The Chicago White Sox have signed Noah Syndergaard to a minor league contract nearly two years after the former All-Star pitcher last pitched in an MLB game.
The White Sox confirmed to media Tuesday that Syndergaard has reported to the team's spring training complex in Glendale, Arizona. It's not clear where within the White Sox system Syndergaard will go from there.

Syndergaard, 32, is an eight-season MLB veteran who made his name with the New York Mets thanks to an imposing fastball and effective curveball that he leveraged with his 6-foot-6 frame.
He made his MLB debut with the Mets in 2015 at 22 years old and was a starter as the Mets advanced to the World Series against the Kansas City Royals. He made an All-Star team the following season while posting a career-best 2.60 ERA with 218 strikeouts and 43 walks in 183 2/3 innings.

Syndergaard missed the 2020 season and most of 2021 after undergoing Tommy John surgery and struggled to regain his prior form following the procedure.

Syndergaard left New York in free agency ahead of the 2022 season to sign a one-year, $21 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels traded him that season to the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Syndergaard ahead of the 2023 season, then traded him to the Cleveland Guardians before the trade deadline. The Guardians released him after six starts.
Syndergaard posted a 6.50 ERA with the Dodgers and Guardians in his last MLB season. For his career, Syndergaard has a 3.71 ERA and 1.196 WHIP with 928 strikeouts in 941 1/3 innings pitched. The White Sox are rolling the dice that Syndergaard can regain some of his previous form.

MLB Writer Pitches Dodgers Buy-and-Sell Strategy if Starting Rotation is Healthy

MLB Writer Pitches Dodgers Buy-and-Sell Strategy if Starting Rotation is Healthy originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Dodgers, if they were to be fully healthy, would have a stacked starting rotation. But, with all of the injuries the starters have suffered, there's a need for so many starters. However, in a scenario where the Dodgers' starters are healthy, they could make some interesting moves. Advertisement According to writer Mark Feinsand, the Dodgers could join the buy-and-sell trend in Major League Baseball. If the starters are all healthy, they could look to move one or more starters to resolve issues around their roster. "... Though if the rotation is healthier by late-July and Friedman believes there are other holes to fill," Feinsand writes. "The idea of using some of its depth in the back of the rotation to address those needs makes sense." With the current crop of injuries, trading a starter seems out of the question. But if everyone, or most, were to get healthy, there would be a few starters who would be out of a spot in the rotation. Feinsand names Dustin May, Emmet Sheehan, and Landon Knack as potential options for the Dodgers to trade in such a scenario. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, and Clayton Kershaw are the big-three starters who are healthy right now, but there are plenty of starters who are hurt at the moment. That's seven starters, already, not including the three Feinsand mentions as trade chips for the Dodgers. Advertisement With teams around baseball looking to buy starters, the Dodgers could be in great shape if they decide to sell one of those three starters. A team like the Boston Red Sox could be willing to ship off outfielder Jarren Duran for one of the Dodgers' starters. The lack of potential starting pitchers on the market could allow the Dodgers to get a strong return if they employ the buy-and-sell strategy. The clear area where they could explore an improvement is in left field with Michael Conforto. Feinsand's strategy is an interesting one, but it'd only happen if the oft-injured starting rotation can get healthy. If the Dodgers' rotation does get healthy, they could be in line to make a deadline splash by sending one or more of their starters to bolster one of the best offenses in baseball. Cardinals' Masyn Winn and Victor Scott II Snubbed in Gold Glove Award Predictions

Cardinals' Masyn Winn and Victor Scott II Snubbed in Gold Glove Award Predictions originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Last season, a record-tying 14 players took home their first Rawlings Gold Glove award. Advertisement This season, a pair of young St. Louis Cardinals - shortstop Masyn Winn and centerfielder Victor Scott II - are seeking to become first-time recipients. However, Winn and Scott are not the current favorites to take home the hardware. A panel of writers recently predicted Atlanta Braves shortstop Nick Allen and Chicago Cubs centerfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong will claim the honor at their respective positions. Allen leads all NL shortstops with nine runs prevented and an outs above average of 12. Winn, however, is right on his heels with eight runs prevented and an OAA of 10. Both are tied with two errors apiece, however Winn has a slight edge in fielding percentage, .992 to Allen's .991. The panelists also had the Cubs' Dansby Swanson and the Los Angeles Dodgers' Mookie Betts in the mix. St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn (0) throws out Baltimore Orioles catcher Maverick HandleyGregory Fisher-Imagn Images If Winn were to win the award, he'd become the first Cardinals shortstop to do so since Edgar Renteria in 2003. St. Louis legend Ozzie Smith holds the record with 13 career gold glove awards, all of which he won between 1980-'92. Advertisement Scott's chances of over taking Pete Crow-Armstrong in the centerfielder gold glove race might be a little more difficult. Crow-Armstrong leads all NL centerfielders with nine runs prevented and an OAA of 10. Scott is right behind him with eight runs prevented and a nine OAA. However, Crow-Armstrong has played 100 more innings than Scott this season, and has registered an NL-leading 221 putouts without an error. Harrison Bader was the last Cardinals centerfielder to win a Gold Glove award in 2021. Jim Edmonds, Willie McGee and Curt Flood - who primarily played centerfield - each won multiple outfielder Gold Gloves before the rule was changed back in 2011 to award the individual outfield positions.
