Infra projects worth Rs 24,000 crore on the anvil to decongest Delhi: CM Rekha Gupta
Addressing a press conference Wednesday, Gupta said major arterial roads — Rohtak Road (Punjabi Bagh to Nangloi), Ashram to Badarpur, and MG Road — have now been handed over to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). These roads will be upgraded into signal-free corridors with complete supporting infrastructure, including drainage, side lanes, and real-time monitoring systems.
'Earlier, multiple agencies led to fragmented execution and chronic waterlogging. Now, NHAI will be the single-point authority, with support from the Delhi Public Works Department,' she said.
The press conference was held following a high-level meeting chaired by Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. The meeting was also attended by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, Union MoS Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Cabinet Ministers, MPs, and senior officials from key departments.
Gupta underlined several critical initiatives aimed at easing congestion and reducing pollution. These include:
-A 7-km underground tunnel from Shiv Murti to Nelson Mandela Road
-An elevated road from INA to the airport (eventually connecting Faridabad and Gurgaon)
-Extensions of Urban Extension Road-II linking Alipur to Tronica City and the Delhi–Dehradun route.
-A feasibility study is also underway for a tunnel from Sarai Kale Khan to IGI Airport.
– A 20-km link road from Inderlok Metro Station along the Munak Canal to Sonipat has been proposed. Gupta said this new route would relieve traffic from Mukarba Chowk and benefit thousands of daily commuters travelling between Delhi and Haryana.
The CM said the NHAI is currently executing road and transport projects worth Rs 35,000 crore across the Capital. This comes in addition to Rs 64,000-crore worth of completed works, covering 1,578 km of roads. Furthermore, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for upcoming projects worth Rs 24,000 crore — spanning 128 km — have been prepared and await rollout.
The NHAI has also sanctioned Rs 150 crore for the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Under Bridges (RUBs) to remove bottlenecks near railway crossings.
Gupta expressed her gratitude to PM Narendra Modi and Minister Gadkari, stating, 'With Rs 1.25 lakh crore worth of decongestion projects in Delhi, the Centre has shown unparalleled commitment to transforming Delhi into a clean, green, and world-class city.'
The Chief Minister also highlighted NHAI's eco-friendly practices, such as using inert solid waste and construction debris from Delhi's landfills in road construction.

CM demands over ₹1 cr. recovery from Kejriwal over ‘fake' phansi-ghar
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday called for a thorough inquiry and demanded that the ₹1.04 crore spent by the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on a British-era 'fake' 'phansi-ghar' (execution room) at the Delhi Assembly be recovered from former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Terming the move a 'deception of people' and an 'insult to martyrs', Ms. Gupta said the installation was based on no official documentation and essentially a repurposed 'tiffin room' falsely portrayed as a historic phansi-ghar to mislead the public. During a discussion in the Assembly, she said an FIR should be registered against Mr. Kejriwal and the structure be removed before August 25. Noting that the phansi-ghar was inaugurated on August 9, 2022, Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said the 1911-12 building map accessed from the National Archives clearly marked the space as a tiffin room. 'I challenge AAP to find one historian who can verify it was an execution room,' he said. 'Distortion of heritage' 'Such tiffin rooms are in other offices too. You will know about them if you conduct an inquiry. Without any documents, it was declared as an execution room. We are ashamed of this. He [Kejriwal] had a disease of lying,' the CM said, terming it a 'distortion of heritage'. AAP legislator Sanjeev Jha said many execution rooms from the British era are not officially recorded and accused the ruling party of 'standing with the British'.

IAS officials appointments to oversee five Jyotirlinga development plans
The Maharashtra government on Wednesday appointed five senior IAS officers to monitor and oversee the implementation of development plans for five major Jyotirling pilgrimage sites of the state. According to officials, the appointments were made as per the directions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the move is aimed at ensuring time-bound and high-quality execution of the Jyotirlinga development projects at Bhimashankar (Pune), Grishneshwar (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Trimbakeshwar (Nashik), Aundha Nagnath (Hingoli), and Parli Vaijnath (Beed). Each officer will oversee progress and report directly to the Chief Minister's Office. These Jyotirling temples are among the twelve most revered Shaivite shrines in India and attract lakhs of pilgrims annually. The state had earlier approved development master plans for each site through a high-level committee and followed by formal government resolutions allocating funds for it. 'This is the first time senior officers have been designated for direct oversight of religious infrastructure projects at this level. The aim is for coordinated, efficient, and transparent execution,' a senior official from the CMO said. The state government has already allocated funds for the development of these sites. Rs 148.37 crore has been allocated for Bhimashankar, Rs 156.63 crore for Grishneshwar, Rs 275 crore for Trimbakeshwar, Rs 15.21 crore for Aundha Nagnath, and Rs 286.68 crore for Parli Vaijnath in Beed.

Forest department approves Udaipur dam project after securing land near Sariska
Jaipur: The state Forest Department has granted the long-pending No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the Devas III and IV dam project in Udaipur, nearly two years after withholding it due to the unavailability of suitable compensatory land. The clearance followed the identification of 174.1106 hectares of non-forest land near the Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar district, fulfilling the department's requirement that the land be adjacent to a tiger reserve or wildlife sanctuary. The Rs 1,691-crore project, aimed at securing Udaipur's future drinking water supply, is proposed on an equivalent area of forest land in the district. As per forest conservation norms, any diversion of forest land for non-forest use must be offset by providing equal non-forest land for afforestation. However, such land was not available near the project site, leading to prolonged delays. A forest official said, "Initially, the Forest Department had objected even after the Udaipur administration identified alternative land within the district. In a revised demand, the department insisted on land located near a protected area. Following this, the Alwar district administration identified land in the Kalad–Pratapgarh forest block adjoining the Sariska Tiger Reserve. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Learn More - How Watching Videos Can Boost Your Income TheDaddest Undo A total of 340.32 hectares was surveyed, and 174.1106 hectares have been reserved for afforestation. " The process was expedited after the Udaipur administration corresponded with the Alwar Collector, emphasising that the project was a priority for the ruling govt. "After completing the documentation, the revenue proposal has been sent to the state govt for final approval. Once cleared, the land will be transferred to the Forest Department, which will formally issue the NOC. The Water Resources Department had already issued work orders for construction in October 2023. With the NOC expected shortly, physical work on the dam and tunnel is set to begin," the official added.
