EastEnders fans turn on 'manipulative' Suki as Avani story causes shock

EastEnders fans turn on 'manipulative' Suki as Avani story causes shock

Metroa day ago
EastEnders fans have taken to social media to express their thoughts on Suki Panesar's (Balvinder Sopal) latest storyline.
Beloved character Suki is currently married to Eve Unwin (Heather Peace). In recent scenes, she discovered her granddaughter Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) is pregnant with Joel Marshall's (Max Murray) baby.
Avani first told friend Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) about the pregnancy, and tried to make plans to have an abortion.
When he refused, she began to research clinics – but got more than she bargained for when Suki looked over her shoulder and saw what she was looking at.
Avani remained adamant that she was doing the right thing, despite Suki dropping a huge bombshell. She was prepared to raise the child as her own.
There was one major hitch, however. She hadn't told Eve, and Avani knew that she wouldn't be as on board with the plan as Suki made out.
In the episode that aired yesterday, a nervous Avani sat among other women who were making a brave decision at the abortion clinic. Despite Suki's pleading, she was confident that having a child would only hold her back.
She was also sure it would cause an surge of bullying, which is the last thing she needed after a rough few months.
Suki's attempts to guilt-trip Avani failed. She knew she'd have to go the extra mile to secure the child as her own – so she offered financial support throughout her pregnancy.
To her surprise, Avani accepted.
This storyline is really only just beginning, but it's already caused quite a lot of backlash.
Taking to social media platform X, many fans of the BBC One soap struggled to watch Suki push Avani into agreeing with her idea, with many arguing it's an incredibly 'manipulative' move from her.
'Im actually so uncomfortable watching todays eastenders. Sukis constant and unweilding manipulation of Avani is disgusting and quite upsetting. I don't understand how anyone can defend the way she is behaving. Every woman should have autonomy over her own body', this person wrote online.
Echoing the view, another user of X said: 'Suki following her 16 year old granddaughter to an abortion clinic and proceeding to try manipulation, guilt tripping and then straight up harassment to talk her out of an abortion might be one of the most grossly offensive storylines #Eastenders has done in a very long time.'
This person noted: 'NO. I HATE this story so much. Suki has overcome and changed so much in the last couple of years and this is an ABOMINATION of all of that arguably one of the worst things she's done.'

In the episode of the soap that airs this evening, but is also available now on BBC iPlayer, Suki proposes the idea of having kids to Eve, but she isn't interested. More Trending
Eventually though, after a chat with friend Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Eve tells Suki that she's open to considering it.
Avani then arrives and drops the bombshell about them raising her baby – but how will Eve react?

Casualty star reveals 'beautiful moment' in his life during 'tough time'

In 2024, Olly Rix's life changed when he brought a little dog called Nellie home. The actor has been playing Flynn Byron in BBC One's Casualty since March of this year. It's a busy life Olly leads working in the continuing drama and looking after young Nellie but recently, a rare day off from filming saw him take a trip to The Dogs Trust in Cardiff. Olly adores dogs, and could wait to learn more about the work the charity does. The Dogs Trust is an animal welfare charity and humane society that specialises in the well-being of dogs. It's the largest dog welfare charity in the UK and cares for over 15,000 animals each year. The charity's primary objective is to protect all dogs in the UK and elsewhere from cruelty and suffering. It focuses on the rehoming and rehabilitation of dogs who have been abandoned or given up by their owners. I'm a dog lover but I've never visited a rehoming centre before. As a result, it left me wondering if Olly's first emotion when he entered The Dogs Trust in Cardiff – a place home to unwanted dogs – was sadness. In our latest chat he reassured me that wasn't the case, as a dedicated team of people work hard to create an environment full of hope, love and celebratory moments. 'It was amazing. They talked me through the whole thing. How they work as an organisation and across the country, to how they work in that specific locality and in Cardiff', he said. 'I met various different dogs who all have different back stories, some absolutely heartbreaking, some actually oddly sort of uplifting. I met puppies who have just been born. They didn't have any kind of story but they were absolutely beautiful. 'They do so much work and it's so variable. It isn't really a sort of gut wrenchingly heartbreaking day. There's such a beautiful energy there. The people involved are just so humbling to be around. They are so selfless, and so focused on all the dogs there. It's such a tonic to the b******t of everyday life, to just go and be around some thoughtful, wonderful souls.' He smiled: 'They even named a dog after me! He was about a year old, a chocolate Labrador and they called him Olly, which was just so lovely. I got to meet him and play with him, it was a really special time. 'They just don't give up. I think what becomes so apparent so quickly is that there's a sort of uplifting nature to the entire organisation. It hits you in the face within seconds of walking in the door, because everything there, every sort of little soul there, is going to be okay. 'It's going to be a different process and a different journey for each one of them, and some of them will have a really tough time and they might have come from, you know, really horrendous circumstances, and they might need a lot of sort of medical care and intervention that will make the adoption process quite complicated. But even then, in the most extreme cases, they don't stop, they just see it through.' After spending the day at the centre, Olly headed home to look after his own furry best friend Nellie. The pooch is still young, which means Olly has recently had to battle through what everyone faces becoming owner to a new dog: sleepless nights, toilet training, and chaotic mishaps. It's certainly not easy but Olly wouldn't change it for the world. He told me that Nellie arrived in his life at a pivotal time for him, as he was 'having a bit of a tough time' and needed something to focus on. 'I think dogs can irrevocably change anybody's life', he noted. 'Little Nellie came along at a time when I was having a bit of a tough time, sort of personally and professionally, and it was just a bit of a tricky patch. It happens in life sometimes, and she came along in a moment when I needed to take my own attention away from myself, and not sort of become overly introspective or overly self centred, I suppose. It was really valuable and helped. 'So many people find that if they suffer from depression, for example, a dog is a perfect way of taking their attention into a different realm that is maybe more manageable for them. It allows them to see a bit of light in their life, and allows them to care for something external to themselves. That wasn't my situation, but it was something that I discussed with them at The Dogs Trust. A lot of people explained that they've seen that a lot.' 'My situation was different from that, but it was a similar sort of paradigm. It was all about this beautiful, innocent little life that needed me functioning to care for it. It became a really beautiful moment in my life. Despite the things going on around me, it was actually just a really pleasant, uplifting time. I'm always going to do everything I can to champion all dogs.' We're about halfway through Casualty's latest boxset Supply and Demand. As the latter half of the miniseries begins, focus will shift more onto Flynn. There's a lot of order and control when it comes to Flynn's work at Holby ED but in his personal life, things couldn't be more different. 'I think he's sort of settled within the job, but I think he's deeply, personally unsettled, which is a thread that this series begins to pull', Olly told me. 'His family is fractured and he's left to face that in a way that he perhaps hasn't had to before. The quiet nights at home and stuff like that. It's not long before he starts thinking actually, quiet nights at home are probably the last thing he wants, and that's when chaos ensues.' More Trending 'I think the interesting aspect of this series, as far as Flynn is concerned, is that we do a bit of a deep dive into why he is the way he is. We start to explain some of that behaviour in a way we hadn't before. He is quite abrupt and abrasive in some contexts, but we've never really explained why, aside from saying that he's come from a military background rather than a civilian background. 'But it's nice to flesh that out now and explore his emotional world as well.' Danny Dyer's staggering earnings revealed after being 'so skint' when BBC offered him EastEnders role that he 'couldn't afford a lager'

Danny Dyer staggering earnings have been revealed after he raked in huge amounts from a string of hit shows over the last year. The actor, 47, recently admitted he was once 'so skint' he couldn't even afford to buy BBC execs a lager when they offered him a role on EastEnders in 2013. But thanks to his successes, accounts filed at Companies House have revealed that his firm, Arty Bucco, made £1.4million in the last financial year. The figures show Danny has made a huge £712,221 more than the previous year. In 2023, he quit his role as Mick Carter on the BBC soap EastEnders after nine years to try other things and the move appears to have paid off. Since then, he's leaned into his softer side and taken on a variety of different roles - including Jilly Cooper's Rivals and an emotional appearance on ITV 's new show The Assembly. Danny also reportedly bagged £100,000 for presenting television series The Wall. He recently revealed his children get driven to their swish private school in a Bentley, after his role in EastEnders and a series of top films saw his bank account swell. But it all could have been so different for national treasure Danny, who previously told the Jonathan Ross Show: 'I didn't have an audition, they rung me up, I had a touch. 'They said, "Listen we want you to come in the show, take over the Queen Vic" and at the time I was skint and I just had about enough petrol money to get there, that's the truth. 'They thought I was a multimillionaire and I met them in the hotel and I walked in absolutely skint, not a bean about me. I thought, I hope they don't ask me to get them a lager because I've got no dough. 'They sat me on a throne and said how great I was and how they wanted me to come in and take over the Vic and [I was] going to have a really big storyline about having a gay son.' Danny explained he made out it was no big deal, but secretly he was overjoyed by the career-saving offer. He said: 'I was like, "Wow, I want to do a cartwheel in front of them" but I thought, "Play it down, don't show your bolt too early." The actor added: 'I went, "I'll think about it" and then I walked out and I did a couple of backflips on the way out! I played it right down, I didn't want to look desperate and I was desperate.' Speaking about what he might have had to do if the role didn't come up, Danny said: 'I might have had to go and load skips Jon, I just couldn't catch a cold, I was doing nightclub appearances.' In 2023, the Marching Powder star put his past financial woes down to a run of 's*** films' including 2012's Run For Your Wife which made just £602 in its opening weekend. He told The Sun: 'I was on my a**e. I was f***ed. I had made too many bad films. I'd had my shot and made some good stuff. I had resorted to going to nightclubs and waving off balconies. 'That chips away at your soul that I'll tell ya. Where do you go from there?' His life now is worlds away from the dark pre-EastEnders days and Danny told ITV's new show The Assembly last month that his kids head to their private school in Chigwell in style. Each episode of the series sees a different celebrity face questions from a group of autistic, neurodivergent and learning disabled people, which will force them to cast aside their media training, with no topic off limits. And in last week's instalment, he said that because of his fame, his kids have never been on a bus and instead get driven 'door to door in a Bentley'. Danny, who hails from east London, has three children with his wife Joanne – Sunnie, 18, Arty, 11, and reality star Dani, 28, who won the fourth series of ITV dating show Love Island. He revealed in March that they were going to send his son to a private school in Chigwell.

EastEnders confirms Elaine's future with exciting new job after the Vic

EastEnders' Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) may no longer be the landlady of The Vic, but she's back behind a bar with the most unlikely of partners next week. Forthcoming scenes on the BBC soap will see Elaine offered a new job by none other than her sworn enemy Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins). Yes, you read that correctly. The shock offer is set to come as Elaine begins to struggle after she and daughter Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) sold off the Vic to Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) earlier this month. As she pops in her former home for a drink, Elaine confides in her friend Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) that she misses the boozer during an emotional heart-to-heart. Shortly afterwards, her prayers appear to be answered when she finds herself behind the bar of The Albert. Elaine joins forces with Cindy, who has been struggling with staffing since the departure of Felix Baker (Matthew James Morrison) last month, during a busy night of service. Grateful for Elaine's help, Cindy stuns her by offering her the job of co-manager of the place. Will Elaine accept? Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Elaine has resented Cindy's presence in the Square since her return from the dead in 2023, as Cindy was still carrying a torch for her ex-husband – Elaine's other half, George Knight (Colin Salmon).
