Cooler temps Friday in Philadelphia area, beautiful summer weekend ahead. Here's the weather forecast.
Highs on Friday will hover in the mid-70s, about 10-15 degrees below average and almost 20 degrees cooler than Thursday. The last time our high temperatures were in the 70s was more than a month ago on June 27.
We had 21 90-degree days this July. That ties the most 90-degree days ever recorded for Philadelphia in the month of July. So far, we have seen 30 90-degree days since June 1.
All that stifling heat is behind us now, and there are no NEXT Weather Alerts in the next seven days, so make you plans for what is going to be an incredibly nice weekend.
Both days will be in the low to mid-80s with sunny skies. Nights will be cool and pleasant with clear skies and low 60s.
The first week of August begins with sunny skies and highs in the mid-80s. However, by Wednesday clouds move in, and rain returns Thursday.
Friday: A.M. shower, cool. High 75, Low 66.
Saturday: Beautiful. High 83, Low 64.
Sunday: Sunny, nice. High 84, Low 62.
Monday: Mostly sunny. High 87, Low 63.
Tuesday: Clouds and sun. High 86, Low 65.
Wednesday: Shower possible. High 76, Low 68.
Thursday: Partly cloudy. High 84, Low 66.

August's full moon, the 'sturgeon moon,' may have one of the strangest names in the lunar calendar, but this year it's exquisitely timed for skywatchers in North America. Though it's technically opposite the sun early on Saturday, Aug. 9, it will look at its best at moonrise on two successive evenings — Friday, Aug. 8 and Saturday, Aug. 9. However, moon gazers will need to get their timing precise to see it appear on the horizon as a glowing orange orb. (Photo by) Getty Images The moon will reach its full phase at precisely 3:56 a.m. EDT on Saturday, Aug. 9, when it will be 100% illuminated by the sun. A full moon is, by definition, opposite the sun, so it always appears in the eastern sky around the same time as the sunset in the western sky. This month, as seen from mid-latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere, it will rise in the southeast, shine all night and set in the southwest. Since it's opposite the sun, a full moon always mirrors its position. In summer, the moon behaves like the sun in winter, tracing an arc low in the southern sky. Why The Full Moon Will Rise Twice The moon rises, on average, 50 minutes later each night during the 29 days of its orbit around Earth. However, there's much variation depending on the latitude of the viewer. Since the moon has a tilted orbit and doesn't orbit directly over Earth's equator, the daily delay in moonrise depends on how steeply the moon's orbit intersects the horizon. When the angle is shallow — as it is right now, as seen from mid-latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere — the moon rises only slightly later each night. The sturgeon moon is the eighth of 12 full moons in 2025. A solar year is 365.24 days, while a lunar year is around 354.37 days, so sometimes there are 13 full moons in one calendar (solar) year — as in 2023 and next in 2028. The next full moon is the Corn Moon on Sunday, Sept. 8, and from Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Ocean will also be a total lunar eclipse similar to that seen in North America on March 13-14. Pleasant Raven's game conditions are in Baltimore's forecast
Thursday begins on a mild and somewhat humid note across central Maryland. Temperatures are running from the mid-60s in Frederick, to near 70° at BWI and mid to upper 60s across the Eastern Shore. Patchy fog and low clouds are possible through sunrise across the Baltimore metro. Weather shouldn't have much of an impact on your out-the-door routine. Plan on a bit more sunshine than yesterday. Still, there will be rounds of clouds overhead. Brief and spotty rain showers are possible this afternoon. Temperatures peak in the upper 70s and lower 80s between 3 and 5 p.m. The First Alert Forecast looks great for the Raven's game at M&T Bank Stadium; dry and pleasant-feeling, with temperatures in the 70s. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The sky clears as we head into the second weekend of August. As nice as last weekend was, this coming weekend is shaping up to feature the same sort of weather. Mornings are forecast to be pleasantly cool, while afternoon features temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Humidity, however, remains low through the weekend. While warm, it won't feel too bad outside. The First Alert Forecast remains dry both Saturday and Sunday. Monday will be the first afternoon that Baltimore pushes 90°. It only gets hotter from there. Temperatures warm into the lower 90s Tuesday afternoon and mid to upper 90s Wednesday afternoon. Humidity will be more noticeable next week, as well. When factoring in the mugginess, it'll feel hotter than 100° in parts of central Maryland by Wednesday afternoon. A front approaches mid-week, just as the heat begins to get more intense. Scattered Wednesday storms should give way to slightly cooler weather again later in the week.
