FM holds meetings with African counterparts in Malabo

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty held a series of bilateral meetings with his African counterparts as well as senior officials of the African Union (AU).
The meetings involved the foreign ministers of Equatorial Guinea, Tanzania, Djibouti, Somalia, Angola, Burundi, Gabon, and Mauritania, alongside AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Bankole Adeoye, Director-General of the AU Commission Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Space Agency (AfSA) Tidiane Ouattara, and Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Wamkele Mene.
These discussions were held on the sidelines of his participation in the 47th ordinary session of the AU's Executive Council in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tamim Khallaf stated that the minister underscored Egypt's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with African countries.
The meetings focused on mechanisms to activate bilateral cooperation and strengthen trade, investment, and economic relations.
The talks also covered Egypt's potential contributions to major development projects in the continent, leveraging the extensive expertise and capabilities of leading Egyptian companies in key sectors, such as energy, construction, healthcare, and infrastructure.
The talks also included an exchange of views on regional developments, stressing the importance of coordinating positions within African and international fora, and intensifying joint efforts to advance regional integration and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the continent.
Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts to support development in Africa, particularly through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD), under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has, over the years, contributed to building the capacities of thousands of African professionals and implementing development projects in key sectors such as health, education, agriculture, water, and energy.
He affirmed Egypt's aspiration to broaden the reach of EAPD's programs and initiatives to benefit a greater number of African states, as part of its enduring commitment to supporting its African partners and promoting sustainable development across the continent.
Abdelatty also reiterated Egypt's steadfast commitment, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and in his capacity as Chair of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), to deepening South-South cooperation and advancing continental integration, particularly through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), in line with Egypt's strategic orientation toward strengthening economic partnerships in the continent.
He further stressed the importance of strengthening joint African action and fostering unity in the face of mounting challenges, reaffirming Egypt's continued commitment to playing its pivotal role in supporting efforts to achieve development, peace, and stability across the continent.
He reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering commitment to supporting the priorities of the African continent and the AU's Agenda 2063, as well as to advancing regional integration and sustainable development.
He underlined the importance of supporting specialized African institutions, most notably the AfSA, noting Egypt's full backing for the Agency and its readiness to strengthen its capabilities, particularly in light of Cairo serving as its host city.
He expressed his appreciation for the African support extended to Egypt's candidate Khaled al-Anany for the position of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), noting that such support exemplifies the spirit of African solidarity.
He stressed the importance of preserving a unified African voice in international forums, as a means to advance the continent's legitimate aspirations and strengthen its position within multilateral organizations.

CAIRO, July 15 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said the government is moving forward with implementing recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Urban Development and Real Estate Export, highlighting the strategic importance of the sector. Speaking during a meeting on Tuesday in New Alamein City, Madbouly said Egypt aims to simplify property acquisition procedures for foreigners and streamline real estate registration, while promoting Egyptian property abroad through embassies and consulates. Cabinet spokesman Mohamed El-Homsany said the meeting reviewed progress on launching a digital platform for real estate exports, including coordination with relevant agencies, technical aspects, and regulatory frameworks. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology reported it has issued property identification numbers for over 18 million residential units. The Justice Ministry is preparing legal frameworks for issuing ownership and transaction certificates. The platform will launch its pilot phase in September 2025 in New Alamein City, expanding to Sheikh Zayed City in December 2025, before rolling out nationwide by mid-2026. The platform will offer listings from both public and private developers, and include a digital registry to facilitate ownership transfer and boost transparency, officials said. (MENA) R E E/

OPEN// Diplomats: Sisi's presence at AU summit shows Egypt's support for regional unity

CAIRO, July 13 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's participation in the African Union's mid-year coordination summit in Malabo reflects Egypt's continued support for African unity, development, and regional cooperation, diplomats said. In statements to MENA, they added that President Sisi's remarks at the summit reaffirmed Egypt's role in supporting development and stability across the continent, and its active engagement within African Union frameworks. Former assistant foreign minister Mona Omar said that Sisi's attendance showed that Africa remains at the heart of Egypt's foreign policy, despite ongoing regional crises. She noted that Sisi's presence among just 16 attending leaders was a strong signal of Egypt's commitment. She added that Sisi represented Egypt not only as president, but also as head of NEPAD, which Egypt will continue chairing until 2026, and the North Africa Regional Capability, which deals with serious security challenges in Libya, Sudan, and the Sahel. For his part, former assistant foreign minister Salah Halima stated that Egypt plays a big role in pushing African development through NEPAD, particularly in areas like regional trade, industrial growth, and cross-border infrastructure. He cited the Cairo–Cape Town road and the Victoria–Mediterranean link as priority projects. He called for more African support for the North Africa Regional Capability based in Cairo, which focuses on peace and crisis response. Meanwhile, former deputy foreign minister Ali El Hefny noted that the summit was especially important as the continent faces economic, security, and climate challenges. He added that Egypt is working with African states on four main fronts: counterterrorism and migration, political coordination and conflict resolution, economic development, and social cooperation in education, health, and climate action. Hefny affirmed that Egypt's leadership role in both development and regional security was evident throughout the summit, and that recent bilateral meetings with African leaders reflect Cairo's intent to expand cooperation and overcome barriers to growth across the continent.
