PlayStation handheld reportedly in development and may release alongside PlayStation 6
The rumor mill surrounding a potential PlayStation handheld console has been quiet since last December. However, a regular insider on the NeoGAF forums recently claimed that Sony is working on a portable PlayStation.
The leaker, HeisenbergFX4, is usually more focused on Xbox leaks, but in a thread about the PlayStation Portal, said, "A full blown PS handheld is coming."
When asked by other GAF dwellers, they claimed sources and added, "Timing-wise somewhere around PS6 launch," when prodded on a release date.
Which means that a handheld PlayStation console will be part of the next generation of consoles, which we expect to launch sometime in 2027 or 2028.
Previous PS handheld rumors painted a picture of a console that could run PS4 games natively and probably stream PS5 games like the PlayStation Portal.
A Bloomberg report from Thanksgiving said that Sony is using the Portal as a basis for its PlayStation handheld, though at the time, it was positioned as a console to take on the Nintendo Switch 2.

PlayStation's main rival, Xbox, has teased an Xbox handheld for years, and is allegedly dipping its toes in the portable waters with an Asus-made/Xbox-branded handheld.
With the Switch 2 launching in June and new consoles from Sony and Microsoft coming in the next couple of years, the future of console gaming is looking more and more portable.

Sony is finally making it possible to pair a DualSense with more than one device
Sony is bringing a welcome quality-of-life feature to the PlayStation 5. In the next PS5 system update beta, players will be able to have their DualSense controllers synced with multiple hardware platforms at the same time. That means you could swap a controller from a PS5 to your gaming PC to your smartphone without needing to re-pair the DualSense each time. Up to four devices can be simultaneously paired with a single controller, and each of them will be mapped to one of the action buttons. To switch between them, first make sure the hardware you want to start using is on, then press the controller's PS button and the corresponding action button at the same time. Hold for three seconds, and when you see blinking on the controller's light bar, release both buttons. It's the sort of change that may not carry weight for all players. But for those of us who do like to hop between platforms, this is very exciting news. The current beta access is limited to an invite-only guest list, but Sony said it plans to roll out the feature globally "in the coming months."

Sony explores sale of cellular chipsets business, sources say
By Milana Vinn NEW YORK (Reuters) -Sony Group is exploring a sale of its unit that provides cellular chipsets for connected devices, as the group shifts its focus to the entertainment segment, according to three people familiar with the matter. The Japanese technology and entertainment conglomerate is working with investment bankers on the sale of Sony Semiconductor Israel, which is currently in the early stages, the sources said. It generates about $80 million in annual recurring revenue and is expected to be valued at close to $300 million in any deal, the sources said. The business is expected to attract interest from financial sponsors and semiconductor industry players, added the sources. Sony declined to comment. The sources requested anonymity as the matter is not public. Formerly called Altair Semiconductor, Sony Semiconductor Israel provides cellular chipsets for connected devices such as wearables, smart meters, and home appliances. Sony acquired the business in 2016 for $212 million. Sony has been increasing its focus on games, movies, and music, with more than 60% of its profit coming from entertainment last year. As part of its portfolio reshaping, Sony is preparing for a partial spinoff and direct listing of its financial services arm later this year. A leading maker of image sensors, Sony said in April it is considering options for its chips division, including bringing in investment partners or adopting a fab-light strategy.
