Health revolution: First Ayushman Arogya Mandir opens today
New Delhi: Delhi's first Ayushman Arogya Mandir is now ready to begin operations from the Tis Hazari Court complex. Previously functioning as a Mohalla Clinic, the facility has now been upgraded and redesigned to offer improved healthcare services under a new format.
The official inauguration will take place on May 31, led by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The launch is part of a special event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, marking the completion of 100 days of the current Delhi government. As part of the occasion, 33 new healthcare facilities will also be introduced.
The newly developed Ayushman Arogya Mandir is equipped with several features that set it apart. It offers in-house diagnostic capabilities with 14 types of medical tests now available directly at the clinic. In addition to this, outsourced testing options will enable 79 more diagnostic tests to be accessed through the centre.
The facility is also integrated with the National Immunisation Programme, making routine vaccinations available on-site. In addition to this, yoga sessions will be held every Monday and Friday, and comprehensive family planning services will be offered, including pre- and post-pregnancy care.
The centre will operate daily from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., and will be staffed by a medical officer, a nurse, a multipurpose health worker, and a sanitation worker.
Previously, the Mohalla Clinic at the site offered only basic doctor consultations, and most tests had to be done externally. Key services like vaccination were also unavailable. Now, under the new Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir model, all essential health services are being brought under one roof. Local people are quite enthusiastic about the upcoming Arogya Mandir. The BJP government in Delhi has an ambitious plan to expand health services through these centres.
This initiative by the Delhi government aims not only to enhance the quality of healthcare but also to make health services more accessible to the general public.

The objective behind this is to provide comprehensive primary healthcare to the residents, similar to the 'Mohalla Clinics' initiative of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. But the two of them are quite different from each other. One of the key highlights of Arogya Mandir is that pregnant women will be provided a care facility both for delivery and after that. This was not available in Mohalla Clinics. The Rekha Gupta government's focus here is to provide better primary health services to the urban population. The government is paying special attention to ensure that people get better health services. In the first phase, 33 Arogya Mandir will be built in the city. People will be able to avail health services from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM at these facilities. Family planning counselling People will be able to get 14 different types of tests done here, with all of them being made available free of cost. Interestingly, patients will not have to wait for their reports for a long time, as they will be made available in just 30 minutes. Also, parents will be able to get their children vaccinated at these centres. A total of 79 types of tests can be done free of cost in Arogya Mandir through outsourcing. Apart from these, people will be provided with family planning counselling at the centres. Moreover, there will be two yoga classes per week. Mohalla Clinics: Treatment for common diseases only Unlike the all-new Arogya Mandir, the Mohalla Clinics of the former Delhi government used to provide treatment for common illnesses like fever, cough and flu only. The previous AAP government in Delhi started this concept in October 2015. The objective of this flagship healthcare scheme of Arvind Kejriwal was to provide free and easy treatment to the general public. Besides medical consultation, free medicines are also made available in these clinics. These facilities also provided vaccination for children, while certain tests were also made available. In total, there are over 500 Mohalla Clinics in Delhi that give information regarding the prevention of diseases to the patients.

Covid-19 cases in India: 363 new cases reported in last 24 hours, 2 die in Kerala and Karnataka
Covid-19 Update: India now has over 3,500 active cases of Covid-19, with 363 cases being reported in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Union Ministry of Health on Sunday. As per the Covid-19 dashboard of the health ministry, the number of active cases in India as of June 1 is 3,758, up from 3,395 a day ago. Two deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, one each from Karnataka and Kerala. In Karnataka, a 63-year-old man with Pulmonary TB, Squamous Cell Carcinoma of buccal mucosa and incidental Covid-19 positive status died, the ministry said. A 24-year-old woman in Kerala died on Sunday. Along with Covid-19, she was suffering from Sepsis Hypertension and DCLD. While India reported 363 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the number of active cases as mentioned above stands at 3,758. Kerala has the most number of active cases at 1,400, up by 64 since yesterday. Maharashtra and Delhi follow Kerala, with 485 and 438 Covid-19 cases respectively, as per the data. West Bengal reported 82 new cases in the last 24 hours, the highest among all states, followed by Kerala at 64 and Delhi at 61. Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases in Karnataka, the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services on Saturday requested people to stay calm, remain vigilant, and work with health authorities to prevent further spread and ensure public safety. It further asked people to maintain safety by wearing masks in crowded places, maintaining physical distancing, and practicing good hygiene. 'In light of the recent increase in Covid-19 cases in Karnataka, the state continues to monitor and manage Covid-19 through on-going efforts to prevent transmission, detect cases, and provide care. The Department of Health and Family Welfare requests all citizens not to panic, but stay vigilant and actively support public health efforts,' the advisory said. Delhi on Saturday reported its first Covid-19 related death amid the recent spike in cases. A 60-year-old woman who tested positive for Covid-19 has died, officials said on Saturday. 'The woman was suffering from acute intestinal obstruction post-laparotomy. The Covid-19 finding was incidental,' an official said. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Thursday that 19 Covid patients are hospitalised in Delhi, but there is no need to worry. The Delhi government is alert and hospitals are prepared to deal with any eventuality, she said.

Delhi Govt Forms Panel to Fast-Track Covid Compensation Cases
New Delhi: Delhi govt has formed a group of ministers (GOM) to expedite and examine the compensation process for families who lost loved ones during the Covid-19 pandemic. A senior official said on Wednesday that the committee will address pending claims and identify families still awaiting financial assistance. Chief minister Rekha Gupta had earlier stated that many bereaved families did not receive the compensation promised during the pandemic. "To address this, a special committee has been formed to identify such cases and provide financial support," she said. The senior official said that the GOM is expected to meet in early June. Officials from the revenue, health, and other departments will present individual cases to the committee, which will then analyse the details and decide on compensation disbursement. Speaking in the Delhi Assembly earlier this year, Gupta claimed that only 97 families had received financial assistance from the previous AAP-led administration, despite the govt reportedly spending Rs 17 crore on publicity. Official data shows that over 26,700 people in Delhi died due to Covid-related complications. In 2021, the then-AAP govt launched the Mukhyamantri COVID-19 Pariwar Aarthik Sahayata Yojana, promising Rs 50,000 as ex gratia to the next of kin of every Covid victim, along with an additional Rs 2,500 monthly support if the deceased was the sole breadwinner. Families were also eligible for a one-time Rs 50,000 ex gratia from the Delhi Disaster Response Fund (DDRF), with a matching amount from the city government. Meanwhile, the capital has recorded two more Covid-related deaths in the past 48 hours, raising this year's toll to three. Delhi has logged 81 new infections since Friday, and the current active caseload stands at 375. "Nineteen patients are currently admitted to hospitals, while others are recovering at home," said Gupta, adding, "There's no reason for the public to panic. Covid-19 hasn't reached a worrying level, and the govt is fully prepared. " As a precautionary measure, the govt has issued advisories to hospitals to ensure adequate availability of beds, medicines, and oxygen supplies.
