Upcoming Char Aznable Action Figure Came Here To Laugh At You
In a curious move, Bandai Spirits has announced a new upcoming Char Aznable action figure from Mobile Suit Gundam.
The reason why this is curious is that while shows like Kamen Rider and Ultraman get loads of action figures, characters from mecha anime tend not to get the same treatment.
I learned years ago from a representative at Bandai Spirits that when it came to mecha shows, people didn't tend to want figures of characters but more of the mecha themselves.
The reason for this is that the mecha in these shows act as cyphers for the characters, so buying a toy of the mecha they pilot is the equivalent of also buying an action figure of the character.
However, the big change now is that series like Mobile Suit Gundam have a much larger international market share compared to a decade ago.
As with other S.H.Figuarts releases, this figure will have a very wide range of articulation.

My guess is that this Char Aznable figure is meant more for the international market to see if character action figures from mecha anime can have more traction abroad.
Naturally, this Char Aznable action figure also ties neatly into the currently airing Gundam GQuuuuuuX anime, where he is featured as part of the backstory for the series.
Char Aznable is also arguably one of the most iconic characters from the Gundam saga, so it makes sense that Bandai Spirits would start here.
Admittedly, this is by no means the first mecha anime-related character action figure, but they are a rarity due to the reasons specified above, so this does stand out as a more strategic release from an international standpoint.
As with other S.H.Figuarts releases, the figure comes with all manner of gimmicks, from different facial expressions to the Newtype 'flash' effect.
This S.H.Figuarts Char Aznable action figure will be released this October and cost 9,900 yen (or around $71 at the current exchange rate).
As for the whole Char meme, admittedly, that is from Zeta Gundam, when Char called himself Quattro, but it still feels appropriate considering how snarky Char can be across the Gundam franchise.

LinkedIn's Mini Sudoku is a clever twist on the classic puzzle
I love sudoku, so I just couldn't resist checking out LinkedIn's new Mini Sudoku game that it launched this week. Two puzzles in, I can already tell you that I like it a lot. The rules in Mini Sudoku are quite similar to regular sudoku: you need to fill in all of the blank spots of a puzzle with a number, but a number can't repeat in a line, row, or box. But the twist with Mini Sudoku is that it uses six numbers instead of nine, meaning the game has smaller puzzles that are a little easier to take in across a mobile phone screen. You can also make notes and ask for hints if you need them. The smaller puzzles have also (so far) been faster for me to solve. The New York Times' easy sudoku puzzle usually takes me more than five minutes to finish (could be a skill issue), and the first two Mini Sukoku puzzles have taken me about two and four minutes to complete, respectively. I know that's not a huge jump, but every minute counts when I'm trying to finish a puzzle before my toddler wakes up in the morning. The most annoying thing about Mini Sudoku is that it's on LinkedIn, so it means I've found myself accidentally scrolling my LinkedIn feed. But I might have to learn to deal with that to finish my daily puzzle. I'm even thinking of trying LinkedIn's other games. Days After An Insider Lifted The Lid On Kelly Clarkson And Brandon Blackstock's 'Messy' Divorce, His Obituary Has Revealed That He Was In A Relationship With Her Former Assistant
Last week, it was confirmed that Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband and former talent manager, Brandon Blackstock, had died from skin cancer at the age of 48. The sad news broke just hours after Kelly announced that she was postponing the remainder of her August concerts in order to be 'fully present' for her children, whose 'father has been ill.' Related: A representative for Brandon later told People that he had 'bravely battled cancer for more than three years,' and 'passed away peacefully' on Aug. 7, 'surrounded by family.' Kelly and Brandon were married from 2013 to 2020 and share two children: 11-year-old River Rose, and 9-year-old Remington Alexander. Their divorce was finalized in 2022 following an incredibly messy legal battle, which centered around a financial dispute from Kelly's time being managed by Brandon under his family's talent agency. The legal case was settled in May 2024. After Brandon's death, an insider reflected on the former couple's 'incredibly difficult' divorce to People, stating that it was 'messy, painful and something she felt terrible about.' However, the source went on to add that Kelly always remained positive about Brandon for the sake of their children, saying: 'When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake. Kelly has always tried to keep things classy.' 'She always wanted her kids to have the best relationship possible with their dad. She never spoke poorly about Brandon to the kids,' they added. 'It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She's been devastated for the kids.' In the obituary, Brittney is described as Brandon's 'beautiful and loving partner in life and business,' and it has since been revealed that Brittney actually worked as Kelly's production assistant in Nashville between 2016 and 2018. In June 2020, which is the same month that Kelly filed for divorce from Brandon, Brittney became an executive assistant for his Montana ranch, V Bar B Cattle Co. Brandon's obituary states that he and Brittney 'started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana.' People also report that Brittney's father, Larry Jones, paid emotional tribute to Brandon on Aug. 8, where he wrote: 'Yesterday we lost a good man Brandon Blackstock.' He purportedly went on to describe Brandon as his 'daughter's soulmate,' and said that he 'considered him [a] son.'
