Youth held for sexually assaulting minor after befriending her on Instagram
The accused, identified as Hari Krishna, completed his Bachelor of Arts degree, and was engaged in agricultural work in his village. Police said the two became acquainted on the platform about six months ago. On May 13, he met the girl near a secluded spot in IDPL Township, where he allegedly assaulted her twice.
The matter came to light after the girl complained of stomach pain, and a hospital examination confirmed she was pregnant.
A case was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and further investigation is under way. The accused was remanded to judicial custody on August 11.

Pune: A sessions court in the city discharged Bishop Emeritus Thomas Dabre (79) of Poona Diocese of charges of allegedly violating provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by failing to disclose information about a sexual assault incident involving a 14-year-old boy at a school in 2018. Additional sessions judge Anirudhha Gandhi, in his order of August 8, noted, "The Bishop in a meeting asked a police officer if he should report the sexual assault incident to the police. But the officer said a Bishop cannot be forced to make a complaint and advised him that only a victim could file a complaint. The Bishop thus discharged his duty of communicating the incident to the police. He still directed his subordinate to inform the incident to the Wanowrie police and a letter dated March 20, 2018, was sent giving details of the incident involving the school principal. " The Wanowrie police filed a chargesheet against a school principal and another individual for sexually assaulting and harassing the minor under the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act . Subsequently, a supplementary chargesheet was filed against the Bishop after investigations allegedly revealed that he did not report the incident to the police. Gangster Salman Tyagi Found Dead In Delhi Jail, Suicide Suspected: Cops
New Delhi: A notorious gangster with several criminal cases registered against him, including those for murder and extortion, was found dead in his cell at Mandoli Jail here on Saturday, officials said. They said police suspect that he died by suicide. The inmate, identified as Salman Tyagi, was found hanging during a routine inspection in Jail Number 15. Prison authorities said he had used a bedsheet to make a noose. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, they said. Police and jail officials have launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death. "A probe has been initiated. We are examining how the incident occurred and what could have led him to take this step. A detailed report will be submitted," a senior officer said. Tyagi was widely known in Delhi's underworld. Convicted under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, he had a long record of offences, including cases of extortion and organised violence. He began his criminal career with the infamous Neeraj Bawana gang but later attempted to build his own network, investigators said. Sources said that in recent years, Tyagi sought to align himself with the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate. Even while lodged in jail, he allegedly continued to issue instructions to his associates. Last year, he reportedly ordered an attack on two businessmen in Delhi to extort Rs 50 lakh from them. Police believe the move was intended to show his influence and gain Bishnoi's trust. Beyond crime, Tyagi cultivated a flamboyant image on social media. Officers said he was deeply influenced by Bollywood actor Salman Khan and copied his hairstyle and appearance from the 2003 film 'Tere Naam'. He often posted pictures and videos on Instagram and YouTube, projecting himself as a larger-than-life figure. "Even after his arrest, he directed his aides to film him during court appearances and circulate videos to maintain his online presence," a police source said. Prison officials said CCTV footage and security measures are being reviewed to check for any lapses. Further investigation into the matter is underway, they added.

1 arrested on charge of 8-year-old tribal girl's rape in Dhule
Nashik: The police have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl on Friday in a village in Shirpur, Dhule district. Dhule's deputy SP Sunil Gosavi said, "The accused man was produced in a court in Dhule on Saturday. The court remanded him in five-day police custody." The incident occurred at around noon on Friday. The accused man and the victim lived in the same neighbourhood. At 11am, the accused allegedly visited the girl's house and lured her with a bike ride around the village. He took her to a deserted spot where he raped her. About an hour later, he dropped her back near the locality and fled. The girl returned home crying and informed her parents about the incident. As the news spread, residents ransacked an eatery belonging to the accused man's uncle and contacted the police. The police reached the incident spot and began searching for the accused. Gosavi said the accused man escaped into the adjoining forest area but was apprehended within a couple of hours. A case against the accused under relevant sections of the BNS and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) was registered late on Friday night.
