Loose Women's Janet Street Porter sets record straight on show future after 'sad' setback
As part of ITV's major 2026 overhaul, Loose Women will move to a seasonal schedule of 30 weeks per year and will no longer feature a studio audience
Janet Street Porter said she won't be affected by the changes
Loose Women star Janet Street Porter has opened up about the upcoming changes to the show, as part of ITV's scheduling plans. Set to come into force in 2026, episodes of the daytime favourite will be reduced, and will no longer have a live audience.

With the programme scheduled to air just 30 weeks per year, there's speculation that the current roster of 26 panellists may also face cuts. Speaking on the matter, the 78-year-old broadcaster claimed that these changes won't impact her much.

"They won't really affect me because I work when I want to work," she told Woman Magazine.

"I can see they need to save money but from my point of view, I'm sad they've cut the episodes because Loose Women as a brand is doing extremely well for ITV.
"Very well indeed. It's increased its audience share and it's loved by the audience."
Janet Street Porter doesn't believe the long-term panellists will be axed from the show

Having joined the panel back in 2011, Janet is among the show's longstanding contributors alongside the likes of Ruth Langsford, Jane Moore and Kaye Adams.
In a previous interview, the journalist insisted that she and "the older" panellists will not be axed.
She told Bella Magazine: "There are no plans to get rid of the older women, despite of what some people have said!

"In fact, the reverse is true. ITV actually put out a statement saying we are the valued members of the show because the audience totally relate to us."
Janet also believes the show has become "trusted by a lot of women", due to the difficult topics the panellists discuss, from female health to domestic violence.
"I think the show has managed to connect to women who wouldn't otherwise have a voice," she added.

"And it's delivered with a lot of laughs because we don't take ourselves too seriously."
Loose Women's Nadia Sawalha said she found the cuts 'brutal'

While Janet has a nonchalant attitude towards the change-up, her co-host Nadia Sawalha expressed a different view.

In a heartfelt video on her YouTube channel, the actress described the sudden cuts as "absolutely brutal".
Addressing the uncertainty of her future on the show due to her self-employed status, she added: "I could be let go tomorrow, [or] I could be let go in five years, you don't know because we're not employees."
Alongside Loose Women, Lorraine Kelly's eponymous show will also shift to a 30-week seasonal schedule, and will see its airtime reduced from one hour to 30 minutes.

Kevin Lygo, the managing director of ITV's Media and Entertainment Division, acknowledged in a statement that the broadcaster is undergoing a "transition".
He stated: "I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off screen in our Daytime production teams.
"We will work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition."

In a new Instagram post, Peter wrote: 'For sixteen years, I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating. 'That ends today.' Peter's statement, posted against a black background to his Instagram feed, continued: 'The latest comments about my children's welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. 'For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood. In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before, out of respect for my children. 'In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases, found my ex-wife had made false claims. She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise, to me and my management. The same falsehoods are being repeated today. 'Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations I have yet to address. Those will now be dealt with in the coming months.' Emmerdale's Charity in baby DNA scandal as Ross Barton twist changes everything

Emmerdale's latest episode saw Charity Dingle's betrayal exposed moments after announcing she was pregnant as surrogate for Sarah Sugden and Jacob Gallagher on the ITV soap There was a big twist on Emmerdale on Thursday that saw the surrogacy storyline take an awkward turn. Just as Charity Dingle learned she was pregnant at the fertility clinic, a later scene revealed all may not be as it seemed. ‌ Charity had agreed to be a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden and her partner Jacob Gallagher. After an embryo transfer Charity feared it was unsuccessful as she began to bleed. ‌ So imagine her shock when at the clinic ahead of a second procedure, Charity was told she was in fact pregnant sparking celebrations with the family. It comes after a scene recently teased a reunion for Charity and her ex Vanessa Woodfield, amid her marriage to Mackenzie Boyd hitting the rocks. ‌ But the truth about what really happened to them and another character was revealed on Thursday night, and it revealed a potential DNA scandal. Charity seemed a little concerned about the pregnancy and the celebrations by Sarah. It was clear she was hiding something and she wasn't alone, as her ex Ross Barton was seen watching her like there was something he needed to say. We then finally saw flashbacks to the night Charity got drunk and headed over to Vanessa's house, with the pair sharing a kiss. It wasn't Vanessa who Charity spent the night with though, as a flashback confirmed this kiss led nowhere and Charity ended up in the arms of Ross. Vanessa had actually rejected Charity's advances, before sending her out of the house. A rejected Charity staggered around before coming across Ross who had also hit the bottle over his split with Steph Miligan. Soon the pair were kissing before they head off together, and as it panned back to present day the truth came out. ‌ Ross asked Charity: "Is it mine?" confirming they had slept together and that there was a chance Charity was pregnant with his child and not with the embryo she is carrying for Sarah. Having heard the baby news and sensing Charity's panic, Ross was quick to figure things out. With that the pair went off for a private chat with Ross demanding to know the paternity of the baby. But will Ross expose her to Mack and Sarah after her betrayal, and could it lead to a split amid reports Mack will be killed by John Sugden? Then there's the fact that if Charity is pregnant with Ross' baby, she's about to break Sarah's heart after offering to be her surrogate. So will she find out the truth or cover it all up just to keep everyone happy? BREAKING: Katie Price 'will no longer be gaslit' as she responds to Peter Andre's bombshell claims

Reality TV star Katie Price has spoken out after her ex-husband Peter Andre issued a statement about her. He criticised her in a lengthy post in which he accused her of making "repeated lies" in the years since they split up. Katie, 47, and Peter, 52, have been separated since 2009, with the former couple having began their relationship after meeting on I'm A Celebrity in 2004. The exes are parents to kids Junior Andre, 20, and Princess Andre, 18, together. Peter hit out at Katie in a statement earlier today, in which he accused her of making "repeated lies" and said that he wanted to "set the record straight". Katie's team has since reacted to the comments by her ex-husband. A spokesperson for Katie told the Mirror: "Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation, this was in the past and she doesn't feel the need to bring up tit for tat comments, but more importantly she's dealing with this the right way and it's now in her lawyers hands. Kate will no longer be gaslight and bullied as she once was..." Peter issued his statement about Katie this evening, writing in a post on Instagram: "For sixteen years, I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating. That ends today. "The latest comments about my children's welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood. In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before, out of respect for my children." He continued: "In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases, found my ex-wife had made false claims. She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise, to me and my management. The same falsehoods are being repeated today." Peter concluded by telling his followers in the statement: "Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations I have yet to address. Those will now be dealt with in the coming months." Earlier this month, Katie hit out at her ex-husband and his management the CAN Group, who used to manage her too, amid the release of their daughter's new show the Princess Diaries. She claimed that she hasn't been allowed to be involved or help guide Princess in her career. She said that she's "upset" that her daughter is being managed by Peter's management, who she claimed consider Katie to be "trash". The former glamour model spoke out about the Princess Diaries ahead of its launch on ITV. On her podcast, the Katie Price Show, she told listeners that she's "very upset" that the CAN Group are managing her daughter Princess' career. Katie, who noted that the model is following a similar career path, said: "I have not been allowed to go on any photoshoot, no signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that. Why? Because I'm not allowed and I'm not welcome." She also told fans that Princess lives with her. Whilst dismissing rumours of a feud with her, she said: "We get on like best friends, mother and daughter. Princess lives with me and she stays at her dad's. Now, she's been staying at her dad's the past two months because she's been filming her show." The CAN Group later issued a statement. It read: "As a company, our duty of care to our clients is paramount. We would never advise a client on their personal life unless asked and we have never stopped anyone seeing their families." More recently, Katie had called for a meeting with Peter and her former management the CAN Group. As previously reported, she said on her podcast: "I feel like I've missed out on so much and it's so not fair to bring Princess as piggy in the middle so I think it's about time all of us adults just sit down and talk about what their beef is with me and just get over it. Life would be such more at peace."
