Juvenile among 4 held for looting cash from cosmetics shop

New Delhi: Six people, all of them drug addicts, looted a cosmetics shop in the bustling M Block market of outer Delhi's Mangolpuri. The gang, some of them armed with knives, allegedly threatened the shopkeeper before fleeing with around Rs 10,000. Three of the gang members were arrested and one juvenile was apprehended. According to police, a PCR call was received on Friday about the robbery. The complainant said four unidentified men entered his store and held him at knifepoint, forcibly taking between Rs 8,000 and Rs 10,000. A case was immediately registered, and an investigation was launched. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, helping investigators identify the culprits. The footage showed a group of six people arriving at the market during a particularly busy hour. Several members entered the shop brandishing knives, while others stayed outside, probably to keep a watch or facilitate a quick escape. Once inside, the robbers grabbed the cash and passed it on to their accomplices waiting outside before fleeing the spot together. Deputy commissioner of police (outer) Sachin Sharma said that based on intelligence inputs, the suspects were located in a nearby park. A trap was set, leading to the swift apprehension of four of them. The accused confessed to the crime, claimed police. They admitted that the robbery was planned to fund their addiction.
