BJP to amplify ‘Har Ghar Tiranga' by distributing 40 lakh national flags across Telangana

Time of Indiaa day ago
Hyderabad: In a strategic move ahead of Independence Day, the BJP is gearing up to transform the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign into a powerful, state-wide patriotic drive in Telangana.
With plans to distribute 40 lakh national flags across households, schools, and institutions, the initiative seeks not only to celebrate India's independence but also to invoke the spirit of Operation Sindoor, a mission the party credits as a major success under the NDA govt.
This marks a shift from the programme's relatively modest implementation in previous years. First launched during the BJP's national executive meeting in Hyderabad three years ago, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is being revived as a dynamic outreach initiative aimed at energising the party base and reinforcing nationalistic sentiment across all sections of society.
To ensure effective execution, the Telangana BJP has constituted both state-level and district-level committees, which have begun organising events that will lead up to a grand culmination on Aug 15. Activities will begin five days in advance, with the highlight being the hoisting of the national flag on Independence Day.

Unlike in the past, where youth and student wings largely managed the campaign, this year the party's central leadership is involved.
A structured plan of action has been rolled out following a series of workshops and internal meetings. 'This time, the entire party machinery has been mobilised with clarity and purpose,' said party sources familiar with the planning.
Senior leaders have been given key responsibilities, including outreach to families of freedom fighters and war heroes. A Tiranga yatra will be held at the mandal level on Aug 10, followed by the large-scale distribution of flags on Aug 13 and 14.
Freedom fighters and historical figures from each district will be honoured, with party workers instructed to clean and decorate martyrs' memorials on Aug 14. On Independence Day, tributes will be paid to the fallen, with special emphasis on educating youth and communities about Operation Sindoor.
The BJP hopes that by combining historical remembrance with patriotic mobilisation, the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative will not only rekindle national pride but also resonate with voters ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Rahul Gandhi's 'vote theft' claims are baseless, childish: Bawankule

Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule termed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations about vote theft "baseless and childish", and said he had insulted voters in the state with his claims. Bawankule questioned why Congress workers had not raised objections when the voters' list was published ahead of the elections, urging them to do so this time before the upcoming local bodies polls in Maharashtra. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has sparked a controversy with his allegations that the Election Commission is "openly colluding" with the BJP to carry out "vote theft" with the objective of taking away the voting rights of the poor. "When the Congress wins more seats in the Lok Sabha elections, they celebrate. But when they lose the state assembly polls, they complain. His (Gandhi's) allegations are childish and baseless," Bawankule said. Gandhi's allegations about vote theft are an insult to the voters of Maharashtra, he said. "In the upcoming Bihar and local bodies elections in Maharashtra, the Congress will be wiped out," the minister said. Banwankule, who addressed a press conference at the Jalna collectorate, warned of strict action against revenue officials found colluding with the sand mafia. He emphasised the need for coordinated action between the police and revenue departments to curb illegal sand mining. "In most cases, such action is stalled due to the nexus between the sand mafia and officials. If officers are transparent and honest, no one would dare to attack them," the revenue minister said. He further said that the government is drafting a sand conservation policy and will encourage the use of manufactured stone sand in government projects instead of natural river sand to protect the ecological balance. Asked about alleged inaction against revenue officials in the Rs 35 crore disaster compensation scam and a land scam in Jalna, Banwankule assured that he would examine the matter. The inquiry committee has revealed irregularities in the distribution of disaster compensation, naming 74 government officials for allegedly misappropriating Rs 34.97 crore in Ambad and Ghansawangi tehsils between 2022 and 2024. The funds were intended for farmers affected by natural calamities.

BJP leaders in Bihar are ‘more corrupt' than Lalu

Patna: Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Friday flagged 'serious irregularities' in Health department of Bihar, a portfolio held by the BJP all through the NDA rule, and alleged that the leaders of the saffron party in the state are 'more corrupt' than RJD president Lalu Prasad. Addressing a press conference, Kishor launched a frontal attack on state Health minister Mangal Pandey, who is also a former Bihar BJP President, accusing him of 'quid pro quo' with current state unit chief Dilip Jaiswal, whom the Jan Suraaj Party founder has been targeting for some time. Kishor alleged that the state Health department had placed an order for '1,200 ambulances' priced at around Rs 28 lakh each, which was almost twice as what states like Odisha and Uttar Pradesh were paying. He also alleged that in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pandey had purchased a flat in Delhi in his wife's name and Jailswal helped him in the transaction. 'Pandey showed his gratitude by granting the status of deemed university to a medical college in Kishanganj in which Jaiswal has huge stakes', alleged Kishore. 'Jaiswal transferred Rs 25 lakh to the account of Pandey's father on August 6, 2019 and that money was used in the purchase of a flat in the name of the then health minister's wife. Jaiswal even signed as a witness in the document of the flat purchased in Delhi's Dwarka', Pandey said. Even if Pandey borrowed this amount from Jaiswal, then why did he not mention it in his election affidavit in the 2020 assembly polls in the category of unsecured loan, Kishor asked. 'BJP leaders in Bihar claim to be unblemished but in reality they are more corrupt than even RJD President Lalu Prasad, whom they like to attack over conviction in fodder scam cases and alleged involvement in railway scams like land for hotels and land for jobs', said Kishor. Pandey and Jaiswal need to explain this transaction, he added. Despite repeated attempts, neither Pandey nor Jaiswal were available for their comments over the charges levelled by Kishor against them. The Jan Suraaj party founder also raked up a recent Rajasthan court order in which another BJP leader and Bihar minister Jibesh Mishra was held guilty of involvement in manufacture of spurious medicine. 'The BJP leader continues in the Nitish Kumar cabinet despite the opposition's demand that he be sacked or asked to resign in the wake up of the court order', he said. Notably, Mishra is one of the directors of the drug company, which has been indicted by the court in Rajsamand (Rajasthan). The court has not awarded a prison sentence to the Bihar minister but ruled that he be under probation for a certain period. Kishore also deplored the police action against students in Patna a day ago and claimed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may be 'unwell, physically and mentally'.
