Delhi police conducts vehicle checking, patrolling ahead of Eid al Adha
Intensified checks were conducted in the Kartavya Path area, where police personnel were seen stopping and inspecting vehicles during routine patrols. Similarly, the police carried out security checks at the Yusuf Sarai area, the Ranjit Singh flyover, and the Nelson Mandela Marg.
The police have been taking proactive steps and comprehensive security measures to maintain communal harmony and ensure peaceful celebrations of Bakra Eid on June 7.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South, Ankit Chauhan, spoke to ANI and said, 'Tonight we are conducting a general patrolling. We have deployed around 50 pickets in the south district. Security personnel, including the senior officials, are on the field. We are focusing on the suspicious people, we are detaining them...Preventive action is being taken. In view of Bakrid, we will keep deployment early in the morning.'
Speaking to ANI on Friday, Joint Commissioner of Police, Southern Range, Sanjay Kumar Jain said, 'We are doing general checking. It is the weekend, and tomorrow is Bakrid; We are doing extra patrolling and vehicle checking. The aim of checking is to create a sense of security among people... We appeal to all to maintain peace and harmony. We all should maintain brotherhood and celebrate the festival.'
The security measures are part of broader efforts to prevent any untoward incidents during the Bakra Eid festival. Officials have been instructed to remain vigilant and conduct thorough inspections while ensuring minimal inconvenience to commuters.
Deputy Commissioner of police (DCP), New Delhi, Devesh said, 'In New Delhi, 80 two-wheelers are on patrol, and 48 pickets have been established... For Eid, we have a strong presence where there may be a possibility of any chaos... We also did street meetings. We appeal to everyone that the animal sacrifice may be done in closed premises and not in the open...'
Additional DCP South West District, Aishwarya Singh, also spoke to ANI and said, 'General patrolling is being conducted from 9 pm to 12 am. Habitual criminals are also being rounded up. Hotels and guest houses are also being checked...'

Rescue ops in J&K's Kishtwar enter day 3; 60 dead, over 100 injured
A coordinated rescue and relief operation continued for the third consecutive day on Saturday in a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, where 60 people lost their lives and over 100 others were injured, officials said. Union Minister Jitendra Singh, accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, visited the devastated village late Friday night and reviewed ongoing rescue and relief efforts carried out by the police, army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), civil administration, and local volunteers operating in the high-altitude terrain. So far, 46 bodies have been identified and handed over to their next of kin after completion of legal formalities. Meanwhile, 75 persons have been reported missing by their families, although locals and eyewitnesses claim that hundreds may have been swept away by flash floods and buried under giant boulders, logs, and rubble. Among the deceased were two personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and a Special Police Officer (SPO) of the local police, the officials added. Visakhapatnam: Disturbed by seeing people begging and homeless persons sleeping on the roads, City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi initiated 'Jyotirgamaya'. In an effort to bring light to the dark life being led by alm-seekers in Visakhapatnam and make it a beggar-free destination, the city police initiated 'Jyotirgamaya'. The seed which was sown 10 months back derived desired results as about 243 persons who were begging in various places across the city were rescued and sheltered. Through 'Jyotirgamaya' mission, the Commissioner of Police opines that the beggars will either be sheltered or provided an opportunity to work as they have a right to lead a dignified life. The main agenda of the mission is to completely eliminate begging in Visakhapatnam and provide proper shelter to beggars and make Visakhapatnam a begging-free city. Instead of focusing on just shifting the beggars outside the city, the idea is to improve their livelihood by giving them an opportunity to work and lead a decent life. Based on their ability and age factor, the work opportunities will be provided to the beggars. With the support of NGOs and donors, they will be given a chance to take up small works. As part of the mission, Vizag City Police in coordination with a group of volunteers conducted a survey. With the support of volunteers, 243 beggars have been identified in the city. Of them, 45 were said to be healthy. They were handed over to their family members, following a counselling session. Nine of the beggars were mentally weak and they were shifted to the Government Hospital for Mental Care. About 189 people will be either rehabilitated in shelter homes or assigned work based on their capacities. To take the mission forward, control room Inspector Hussain, Harbour CI Simhadri Naidu, Special Branch CI Tirupati Rao, CI Chappa Prasad (VR) played a key role. In future, a few more people will be identified for rehabilitation. Those who can work will be given work and those who cannot will be provided shelter, the CP said. Similarly, transgenders will also be given work opportunities in future. Next, the city police are working to provide livelihood to prisoners who completed their imprisonment term.
