Here are the Montreal-area road closures scheduled for this weekend
Those planning on driving this weekend should be aware that multiple road closures are scheduled due to construction, including overnight work on the Honoré-Mercier Bridge and Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead to avoid congestion, headaches and cursing in the heat while stuck in traffic.
Honoré-Mercier Bridge/Route 138
From Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m., one lane will be open in each direction on the bridge.
Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel (A-25)
From Saturday at 11 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m., the tunnel will be closed at Exit 90 (R-132) on Highway 20 West in Longueuil (northbound) and Exit 5 (Sherbrooke Street) in Montreal (southbound).
Highway 25 southbound (Laval)
On Saturday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., Highway 25 South will be closed between Exit 17 (A-440) and the Montée Masson access road.
On the same day, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., two of three lanes will be closed on the highway between Montée Masson and Henri-Bourassa Boulevard in Montreal, including the Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge.
On Sunday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., the highway will be closed between Exit 17 (A-440) and the access to Highway 440 East.
Two of three lanes will be closed on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. between Henri-Bourassa Boulevard and Montée Masson, including the Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge.
As a result, the following are default closures:
On Saturday:
The Highway 440 ramp to Highway 25
Exit 14 (Lévesque Boulevard)
Access to Lévesque Boulevard
Exits 10 (Perras, Maurice-Duplessis boulevards) and 9 (Henri-Bourassa Boulevard).
On Sunday:
Access from Henri-Bourassa, Maurice-Duplessis and Perras boulevards. Exit 14 (Marcel-Villeneuve Avenue, Lévesque Boulevard).
Access to Lévesque Boulevard/Roger-Lortie Avenue.
Bridge and access roads will be closed on Sunday between 8 p.m. and midnight.
Victoria Bridge, two-lane configuration / South Shore only between 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
Robert-Bourassa Boulevard
Three of four southbound lanes will be closed between Ottawa and Wellington streets on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and in reserved for Sunday during the same hours.
Viger Avenue
On Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., two of three westbound lanes will be closed between Panet and Wolfe streets.
Bonaventure Expressway area
de la Pointe-Nord Road / l'Île-des-Sœurs Boulevard / Jacques-Leber Street access is closed toward Highway 10 west / downtown until September.
At the end of the Samuel De Champlain Bridge, at Exit 58 towards Highway 10 west / downtown, one of two lanes is closed.
One of three lanes is closed in each direction in the Peel Basin / Victoria Bridge area until December.
On the Clément Bridge, one lane is open in each direction until December.
REM
The REM is closed until Aug. 17.
In case of adverse weather conditions or operational constraints, work may be cancelled or modified.

South Cameron and Howard Avenue South Cameron Boulevard will be closed at Kenilworth Place and Howard Avenue will be closed at Kenilworth Drive for reconstruction of the Howard/South Cameron intersection. This will take place weather permitting from Aug. 5 until Sept. 2.

Ford vows to 4-lane final stretch of Hwy. 69
Progress being reported on four-laning the final 68-km stretch of Highway 69 between Sudbury and Toronto. There appears to be progress on four-laning the remaining stretch of Highway 69 between Sudbury and Toronto in Ontario. Currently, approximately 68 kilometres of the highway from Henvey Inlet First Nation to Nobel remains incomplete. At a news conference in Thunder Bay on Thursday, Premier Doug Ford was asked about expanding all of Highways 11 and 17, rather than focusing solely on areas near the Manitoba border. 'It's treacherous, especially not just here, but have you ever gone from Sudbury down to the city? Like that two-lane – that was like white-knuckled driving down there. If a transport is off by two inches, you're done.' The premier highlighted an agreement with three First Nations communities to secure land for the project. 'We've bought their piece of property, and so we're going to be twinning that. We've made that announcement, and my goal is to make sure our highways are safe,' he said. Northern winters highlight need for safety improvements Ford emphasized the dangers of northern Ontario winters, stating that those in urban centres may not fully grasp the challenges. 'My message to people in the city – you have no clue until you come up to the north and you drive in the winter,' he said. 'We drove all through the north during the election. Snow was coming down – we had a pretty heavy winter. It's terrifying.' He added that northern Ontario's harsh conditions are something one must experience firsthand to truly understand. Timeline still unclear While Ford confirmed that Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford has been pushing to complete the project, no start date for construction has been announced. St. Marys' Stonetown Artisan Cheese wins first place at American Cheese Society competition
Stonetown Artisan Cheese's, a cheesemaker from St. Marys, won a first place award at the American Cheese Society competition. The win was for its Grand Truck in the 'Open Category – Washed Rind Cheeses – Made from Cow's Milk'. The cheese also got an honourable mention for the highest scoring raw milk cheese, as well as a third place win for Best in Show. 'We are beyond thrilled and incredibly humbled by the results and recognition that the judges honoured Grand Truck,' said Ramon Eberle, cheesemaker. 'We couldn't make this cheese as special as it is without the exceptional, high-quality milk produced on our farm. Thanks to everyone on the team, this win is for everyone at Stonetown. The Grand Truck also won the Grand Champion title earlier in the year at SIAL Canada's International Cheese Competition. Grand Truck is described by the cheesemaker as a farmstead Gruyere-style cheese, made with the traditions and recipe from the Swiss Alps.
