Mohit Suri said that he couldn't tap the 'chapri' aspect of Ahaan Panday's personality in Saiyaara due to the story.
Ahaan Panday is winning hearts since his Bollywood debut in Mohit Suri's Saiyaara. Amid the hype surrounding Ahaan Panday, Mohit Suri recently revealed that the actor has a 'chapri' side that went unexplored in Saiyaara due to the script's demands. In a conversation with Komal Nahta, Mohit Suri said that Ahaan Panday is a true 'TikToker' who 'dances for the front benchers' in Gaiety Galaxy.
Mohit Suri said, 'He has a whole different side—the way he dances, he's a gallery man! He dances for the front benchers. Aapne woh videos dekhe nahi hai jo usne pull down kar diye. TikToker hai yeh ladka. Full chapri hai. He's a full, out-there, galleried, Gaiety Galaxy boy jo Bandra mein hai (You haven't seen the videos he deleted—this guy is a total TikToker! He's a loud, energetic, over-the-top Gaiety Galaxy boy from Bandra)."
The filmmaker recalled an anecdote, 'Mujhe yaad hai, 30th day of shooting par, jab 50 per cent shoot ho chuki thi, he suddenly turns to our creative producer and says, 'Sumanna, maine kya kiya tha audition mein? Aisa toh koi audition diya hi nahi tha maine. Mujhe bola gaya tha, you are the right one (I remember on the 30th day of shooting, when half the film was done, he turned to our creative producer and said, 'Sumanna, what did I even do in the audition? I didn't give a big performance. I was just told I'm the right one)."
Meanwhile, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara is showing no signs of slowing down. The romantic drama, directed by Mohit Suri, continues its triumphant box office run. Having crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in just nine days, Saiyaara is now eyeing the Rs 300 crore club—an impressive feat for a film led by newcomers.
The film, which was released on July 18, 2025, started modestly but quickly gained momentum thanks to strong word-of-mouth and a deeply emotional storyline. It follows the journey of Krish Kapoor, a struggling musician, and Vaani Batra, a soulful poet, as they navigate themes of love, loss, and healing. The chemistry between Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda has been widely praised, marking a successful debut for both actors.

Vipul Shah On The Kerala Story National Award Win: ‘Tough Competition, But We're Grateful'

Last Updated: In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah shared his reaction to the unexpected double win for The Kerala Story. The Kerala Story, directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, bagged two prestigious honours at the 71st National Film Awards, announced on August 1. The film won Best Director for Sen and Best Cinematography, marking a significant moment for the team behind one of the most talked-about films of 2023. In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah shared his reaction to the unexpected double win. 'There's always a desire to get your work recognised. But it's a very tough competition. There are so many great films," said Shah, adding that the honours came as a pleasant surprise. 'This is the National Award and so, we can't really say that it's our right to win it. We just have to hope that the jury sees our work in that light. And I'm very glad that they've recognised the film," he added, acknowledging the diverse and high-quality content that was in the running this year. The Kerala Story, which stars Adah Sharma in the lead role, opened to mixed reviews, facing backlash and protests due to its polarising theme and political overtones. Still, the film resonated with a large section of the audience and emerged as one of the biggest commercial hits of the year. Despite the controversy, Shah is grateful for the jury's recognition. 'We all spoke. We cut the cake too just now. Sudipto da came to my office and we congratulated everybody. I also spoke to Adah. We're all really happy and grateful," he shared. The film, inspired by alleged real-life cases, centres on the conversion and radicalisation of Hindu women in Kerala, portraying their recruitment into ISIS. Its release was accompanied by legal challenges and calls for bans in states like Kerala, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu. However, the controversy didn't stop its box office success. For Shah and his team, the National Awards now serve as a moment of validation amidst the storm of debate. 'It's been an emotional journey, and these wins are incredibly special," he concluded. 71st National Film Awards: Sudipto Sen bags Best Director Award for The Kerala Story

At the 71st National Film Awards, Sudipto Sen was honored with the Best Director award for his film The Kerala Story. The movie features Adah Sharma in the lead role, supported by Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani. Sharma portrays Shalini Unnikrishnan, a Hindu woman from Kerala who undergoes a harrowing transformation after being coerced into converting to Islam and joining the Islamic State. What is the storyline? The Kerala Story delves into controversial narrative of young women from Kerala being radicalized and recruited by extremist groups. The film presents dramatized account of Shalini's journey, highlighting the psychological manipulation and exploitation she faces. While the filmmakers claim the story is based on real events, critics have challenged its authenticity, noting a lack of concrete evidence to support the depicted scenarios. What were the controversies that surrounded The Kerala Story? The film's release sparked widespread debate, with supporters lauding it for shedding light on issues of national security, while opponents criticized it for promoting Islamophobic sentiments. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) endorsed film, with some states even making it tax-free, whereas opposition parties and civil society groups raised alarms over its divisive content. How was the box office reception? Upon its release, The Kerala Story achieved remarkable box office success, grossing over Rs 200 crore in India, which was made under Rs 15-20 crore. These numbers underscored the film's ability to engage audiences with its bold and heart-wrenching approach. However, movie faced bans and protests in certain states, including West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, due to concerns over its potential to incite communal tensions. The film also led to a legal battle, due to which the Supreme Court mandated disclaimers clarifying the fictionalized nature of the story and the lack of verified data supporting its claims. More about The Kerala Story Apart from lead stars, the supporting cast includes Benedict Garrett, Pranay Pachauri, Vijay Krishna, and others, who play critical roles in shaping the film's emotional and ideological tension. The film is currently streaming on Zee5 and has received IMDb rating of 6.9. More about 71st National Awards In addition to Sudipto Sen's accolade, the 71st National Film Awards recognized several other notable contributions to Indian cinema. 12th Fail was awarded Best Feature Film, with Vikrant Massey sharing the Best Actor award alongside Shah Rukh Khan for Jawan.
