During the climax, Ethan Page tried to strike Joe Hendry with the title, but Hendry dodged it. Page then slammed Hendry face-first onto the title with a cutter. However, Hendry kicked out at two. The champion quickly retaliated with a standing ovation and successfully retained his championship.
However, Joe Hendry's celebration didn't last long. WWE NXT superstar Trick Williams suddenly entered the ring, delivering a spinning kick to Hendry from behind. As Hendry tried to recover, Williams hit him with a powerful Trick shot.
Following his attack, Williams picked up the TNA World Title, making it clear that he has his sights set on the championship.

'Representation matters. Everybody should feel represented, everybody should be able to turn on their television set and feel inspired by what they see,' Williams said. 'They should feel like their dreams are possible, that anybody can make it happen. So, I'm glad we were able to do that today, and same thing last year. Me and Melo made history, it was the first time since Booker T and The Rock did the same thing, so it was an honor.'

Released WWE Superstars Officially Become Free Agents
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The professional wrestling free agent market has just been flooded with a wave of championship-level talent. As of today, July 31st, several prominent former WWE superstars, who were released on May 2nd, have completed their 90-day non-compete clauses and are now free to sign with any promotion in the world. This new class of free agents includes a former Universal Champion, multiple former NXT Women's Champions, and several multi-time tag team champions. Their availability is set to create a bidding war among promotions like AEW and TNA. The 90-Day Clause Explained The 90-day non-compete clause is a standard part of a main roster WWE contract. When a superstar is released, they are prevented from appearing for a competing promotion for a 90-day period. During this time, WWE continues to pay them their downside guarantee. This clause is the reason for the three-month waiting period before released talent can appear on another company's television program. A Monster On The Market The biggest name in this group of free agents is former Universal Champion Braun Strowman. "The Monster Among Men" is a homegrown WWE star who rose from being the powerhouse of The Wyatt Family to a main event attraction, famously winning the Universal title from Goldberg at WrestleMania 36. Strowman has already been announced for several independent wrestling dates later this summer. Shayna Baszler, a dominant two-time NXT Women's Champion, and Dakota Kai, a multi-time NXT and WWE Women's Tag Team Champion and a founding member of Damage CTRL, are now free agents. Interestingly, while Kai has been teasing a return to her pre-WWE persona on social media, Baszler has reportedly already returned to WWE in a backstage capacity, working as a trial producer for NXT. A Ready-Made Tag Team The highly acclaimed and long-term tag team of Katana Chance and Kayden Carter are also now available. The former NXT Women's Tag Team Champions were known for their exciting, high-energy in-ring style and were a consistent presence on the Raw roster before their release. They represent a ready-made, top-tier team for any promotion's tag team division. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - OCTOBER 11: A WWE logo is shown on a screen before a WWE news conference at T-Mobile Arena on October 11, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was announced that WWE wrestler Braun Strowman will face heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury and WWE champion Brock Lesnar will take on former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez at the WWE's Crown Jewel event at Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 31. More After being released, he was brought back by the new creative regime led by Triple H in 2022 with his original, menacing character restored. While his second main roster run has been more successful, featuring high-profile feuds with stars like Drew McIntyre and AJ Styles, he has yet to recapture the main event aura he had in NXT. A Commitment to The Fans Despite the uncertainty, Kross was clear about his commitment to the audience. He referenced the recent "We Want Kross" social media movement, which was a major factor in his increased television time and new merchandise. "I love WWE. I love the WWE Universe, and I have every intention of giving people what they want, if I'm allowed to," he declared. "And if I'm not, I'm still going to find a way to give them what they want." This statement serves as both a promise to his fans and a savvy public negotiation tactic as the clock ticks down on his current contract.
