Father who fell to his death at Oasis gig: Family pay tribute to lifelong fan who plunged from stand at Wembley

Daily Mail3 days ago
This is the Oasis fan who tragically fell to his death during Saturday night's concert at Wembley Stadium.
Lee Claydon plummeted from the upper tier balcony of the stadium at the sell out gig in front of 100,000 people.
The father of one, from Bournemouth, died at the scene despite medics battling to save his life in front of horrified fans as the band finished off the gig.
In a statement issued over the weekend Liam and Noel Gallagher said they were 'shocked and saddened' by the tragedy.
Mr Claydon's brother Aaron has now paid tribute, describing him as 'the man I have always looked up to' via a GoFundMe page set up to support his grieving family.
He wrote: Our family has been turned upside down and are struggling to deal with this devastation and unexpected loss.
'Lee leaves behind his Son, Dad, Partner, Brothers, Sisters, Nephews and Niece.
'Lee was a loving family man who was a role model to his son Harry and was loved so much by all his family. Lee would have done anything for any of us and he was taken from us far too soon and we will miss him so very much.
'Lee loved all outdoor activities, one of his favourite hobbies was fishing. He also loved music and his guitar. He also really enjoyed going to watch and support the boys and his nephew at their football games.
'Amanda and the boys have our full support at this very sad time which is why we would love to be able to help them financially as well as emotionally.
'Please help us raise as much funds as we can to take one worry off Amanda and family right now as they are going through any family's worst nightmare.'
An eyewitness told the Daily Mail they heard screams and shouts after the male had tumbled.
They said: 'It was horrendous. The guy fell from a balcony. Paramedics came rushing over. There was a lot of screaming and shouting.
'It was a big fall. God knows how it happened. It was so tragic. I don't know how on earth it happened. It was heartbreaking. He was only young.'
The Daily Mail understands Mr Claydon fell at the end of the concert while fireworks were being set off from the stage after Oasis had played Champagne Supernova.
Another fan witnessed paramedics trying to revive him after he had hit the concrete floor.
They said they first thought a coat was falling from above until they looked over.
'I was directly underneath in section 211. At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see,' they said.
Oasis said in a statement that they were ' shocked and saddened' by the fan's death.
'Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved,' they added.
Sunday night's show at Wembley went ahead as planned with frontman Liam appearing to hint about the previous evening's tragedy before performing Live Forever.
The singer told the crowd: 'This ones for all the people who can't be here tonight, but who are here if you know what I mean. And ain't they looking lovely.'
Meanwhile, former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys, who had been at Wembley to watch Oasis, said he was shocked at the amount of alcohol fans were drinking.
Writing on X, he said: 'I heard about this last night. It's so sad. Thoughts are with the family.
'The cause was the massive amount of alcohol allowed into the arena. I was astounded to see it. It wouldn't happen at a football match. It shouldn't happen at a concert.'
A spokesperson for the Met Police said: 'At around 22:19hrs on Saturday, 2 August, officers on duty at Wembley Stadium for the Oasis concert responded alongside venue medics and the London Ambulance Service to reports that a person had been injured.
'A man - aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
'The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage.
'If you have any information that could help us to confirm what happened, please call 101, quoting 7985/02AUG.'
A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: 'Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall.
'Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died.
'Our though go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers.
'The Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.'
Liam Gallagher's ex-wife Nicole Appleton and her friend Spice Girl Emma Bunton were among watching Oasis perform on Sunday.
The former All Saints star took to Instagram on Saturday to reveal she was watching Oasis with Spice Girl Emma, her younger sister Nat and actress Donna Air.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Liam's daughter Molly Moorish-Gallagher, 27 - who he shares with his ex Lisa Moorish - was also in attendance at his Oasis Wembley gig.
She posted some Instagram Stories from the crowd as she watched her dad and uncle perform to hundreds of thousands of people.
It's been almost a month since the siblings performed together for the first time in 16 years following an epic falling out backstage in Paris which sparked the band's split.
While it's been feared that a major bust-up between the once-warring brothers could put a halt to the live shows, their latest gig showed that the pair are still on track.
Liam made a sweet onstage gesture to his brother Noel as they took to the stage on Wednesday.
As they continued their Oasis '25 tour at during their third show at Wembley, Liam left fans in awe as he dedicated a song to his older brother, 58.
Ahead of belting out his next track, Liam told the crowd: 'Now I've gotta dedicate this next tune to our kid - Stand By Me.'
The emotional moment was captured by a fan who shared a clip to X, with music lovers rushing to the comments to share how it made them feel.

Noel Gallagher slammed Scotland as 'third world country' in bitter feud ahead of Murrayfield gigs

Oasis perform three nights at Murrayfield on August 8, 9 and 12 and will get a warm welcome from Scottish crowds of over 67,000 per night, despite Noel's previous comments. The wait is finally over as Oasis are set to take to the Murrayfield stage tonight for the first of a three-night run of gigs in Edinburgh. It's a much anticipated event, to say the least, and is the next stop in the huge tour which has already delighted fans in Cardiff, their Heaton Park home turf, and London's Wembley Arena. ‌ This weekend's shows at Edinburgh's Murrayfield stadium marks the first time in 16 years that Liam, Noel and their iconic Britpop group have performed in Scotland. And it comes after a long relationship between Scots and the Manchester music legends, who were discovered here by Scot Alan McGee in Glasgow back in 1993. ‌ Oasis perform three nights at Murrayfield on August 8, 9 and 12 to crowds of over 67,000 per night and it's pretty safe to predict a warm welcome for the Gallagher brothers. ‌ But buzzing Scots Oasis fans may not be so thrilled to discover that Noel previously brutally bashed Scotland in an interview. Despite his now ex-wife Sara McDonald being from Edinburgh, at the time of the interview, Noel went as far as to brand Scotland as a 'third world country'. What's more, the singer also picked a fight with the country's beloved music icon, Lewis Capaldi, considered a national treasure for his down to earth nature, hilarious sense of humour and incredible musical talents. Their dispute first started when Noel said during an interview in 2019 that he didn't know who the Scots singer was, despite Lewis topping the album charts at the time with his debut, Divinely Unexpired to a Hellish Extent, and bagging the fastest selling record that year. Noel said: "Music is f***ing w*** at the moment". He then insulted the Glasgow-born star as he said: "Who's this Capaldi fella? Who the f***'s that idiot?" Capaldi took it well, and left fans rolling about laughing as he took to Instagram to celebrate Noel's comments in a sarcastic manner. ‌ While watching the interview, he responded: "F***ing c'mon! F***ing peaked – slagged off by Noel Gallagher! "Number 1 single – who gives a f***? Number 1 album – who gives a f***? Noel Gallagher has just slagged me off. This is dreams coming true." The Someone You Loved hitmaker didn't stop there as he wished Gallagher a happy Father's Day while he filmed himself enjoying Oasis' 2002 hit 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out'. ‌ Noel was fast to hit back with a tweet making fun of Lewis, alongside a clip of his then 11-year-old song pretending to cry at Lewis' first single. He captioned it: "@LewisCapaldi you big daftie. You might wanna try and find some joy in your tunes, you're destroying the 11yr old is in bits." In response, Lewis took to the stage at Glastonbury Festival that same month, wearing a typical Gallagher style parka jacket which he unzipped to reveal a top with the Oasis guitarist's face inside a love heart. ‌ He then took things a step further by getting a backstage snap beside Noel's then-estranged brother and former bandmate, Liam. Noel was left furious and referenced Lewis' stunt in an interview with Variety. He then brutally poked fun at the singer's appearance. ‌ The High Flying Birds frontman said: "F****** Chewbacca should enjoy his 15 minutes. The greatest day of his life that I slagged him off or called him an idiot. "It's the greatest day of his f****** life so far. He's just thinking 'wow'. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! It is like a third world country but for f***'s sake, man, you must have had a better day than this. Surely." Lewis again left fans in fits of laughter once more as he changed his Twitter name to "Chewis Capaldi" and made his profile picture an image of his face edited onto the Star Wars character's head. He was then shown some support from an unlikely ally - or maybe likely, given their history - in the shape of Liam, who called his brother out on the remark. ‌ He tweeted at the time: "Moron = The person who wishes aids on other people. Moron = The person who says Scotland is a third world country. Moron = The little one in Oasis with the big head and naff dress sense. As you were LG." Noel later said that every tweet Liam puts out about him was a "nail in the coffin" of Oasis reunion hopes. But thankfully, things were resolved between everyone in the end. Noel and Lewis have put their feud to bed and have even met a few times since., with Gallagher since branding the Scot a "good lad". Noel and Liam have also put their differences to the side, and will take to the Murrayfield stage tonight for what is sure to be an epic show.

Love Island's Meg reignites biggest ever villa feud with sly comments after bullying row

LOVE Island star Meg Moore left fans raging with some sly comments - proving the show's biggest ever divide is still rumbling on. The most recent series of Love Island saw the villa play host the worst ever divide among Islanders, with the girls split into two camps. 3 3 Meg 's team included Helena Ford and Megan Forte Clarke, while finalists Shakira Khan, Yasmin Pettet and Toni Laites kept their distance from the girls. But Meg, 25, also faced fierce competition from the revolving door of latecomers, as boyfriend Dejon Noel-Williams went on a number of dates. Speaking in a new interview with Dejon, 26, Meg was asked about Movie Night and the moment his connection with bombshell Andrada Pop was revealed. She said: ' Movie Night was the worst night in the villa for me. I had a few of the girls on me, and obviously the Andrada situation. 'At the end of the day, we're in Love Island for the experience. People are tested. The past is the past.' And Meg couldn't resist a dig at the ex-Islanders who returned to dump her and Dejon from the villa. She said: 'The girls that had been flirting and been on dates with D, we always knew they were sending us home - and there were quite a few of them up there!' But fans were quick to respond when a clip of the chat was shared on social media. One wrote: "The girls didn't just flirt with Dejon, he flirted back." And another said: "Always blaming then girls and never her man. This is why I don't like Mug." Love Island fans spot Shakira's 'smug' reaction as Meg and Dejon come under fire - did you? The show was previously hit by more than 9,000 Ofcom complaints after furious viewers hit out over the treatment of Shakira Khan in the villa. Meg and Shakira, 22, clashed several times, but it was during a challenge which saw the Islanders share brutal opinions about each other when things came to a head between the girls. After Meg accused Shakira of talking about her and Dejon behind their backs, she fired back: 'I don't know why you keep acting like we're the best of mates in here. "From day one, you were very standoffish with any girl that was posed as a threat.' Meg responded: 'You won't be my friend on the outside.' But Shakira fired back: 'I will never speak to you on the outside. I honestly can't stand you sometimes.' LOVE ISLAND VOTING PERCENTAGES TONI and Cach won the Love Island 2025 final - yet what were the exact voting percentages? Las Vegas waitress Toni Laites and professional dancer Cach Mercer went head-to-head with OG islanders Shakira Khan and Harry Cooksley in a nail-biting finale. However, Toni and Cach were triumphant and won the summer series after surviving a love triangle just two weeks before the final. A results table shared on Love Island's Instagram account this afternoon showed Toni and Cach were the runaway winners on the night, taking over a third of the votes, with 33.5% of viewers backing them for the crown. However, Shakira and Harry drew a sizeable 26.2% of the votes, and Yas and Jamie were not far behind taking 22% on the nose. Aesthetics practitioner Angel, 26, only made her debut on July 17, but managed to secure an impressive 18.3% of the overall voting audience with Casa Amor boy Ty.
