If NFL players go to 2028 Olympics for flag football, who would make the USA's Dream Team?

Yahoo16-05-2025

And you thought the 1992 United States men's basketball team crushed the competition.
The NFL's team owners will discuss a resolution that would allow NFL players to participate in the 2028 Olympics in flag football. It would allow one player from each team, plus a designated international player, to play. Nothing against those international players, but USA vs. anyone in flag football would make the Dream Team vs. Angola look competitive.
The game of flag football is five on five, so let's pick the United States' 2028 Dream Team starting lineup for flag football using NFL players:
Lamar Jackson would have been the pick if running was allowed, but quarterbacks can't run in flag football. Jackson would still be a fine pick because he's a great passer too, but we'll go with Mahomes. Because nobody could go wrong picking Mahomes to be their quarterback.
One underrated option: Jared Goff, who won last season's Pro Bowl Games offensive MVP and a skills competition there. He's a perfect pocket distributor. But we can take only one player from each team and ...
The quarterback can hand it off to a running back or throw, but the running back has to be an elusive threat out of the backfield with the ability to catch. Sorry Derrick Henry, you can't run over the poor defenders in this game. We've seen Gibbs absolutely dust NFL defenders in open space, and good luck to the German or French defender catching up to Gibbs.
We could try to get cute and make an argument like "Marvin Mims Jr. had the most separation in the NFL last season so he should be the pick," or "KaVontae Turpin would be the fastest receiver on the field" but let's be real. If nobody can cover Jefferson in the pros, nobody can cover him in the Olympics either.
See above. There could be some contrarian argument that this or that slot receiver would be better suited for flag football, or that Xavier Worthy's speed should be considered. You pick one of them, and then tell the NFL's triple crown winner he's not in the starting lineup.
Hill has made the NFL look like he's already playing flag football. There's some worry he didn't look like the same explosive player last season. But Hill is practically built for this game. Though it's tough to say no to players like Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr. and Nico Collins for the final starting spot.
In flag football one player usually rushes, and Parsons will be just fine at that. His background as an off-ball linebacker at Penn State also helps a little bit. He gets a slight nod over T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett. An international quarterback seeing any of them bearing down might cause any of them to pass out.
Yeah, he hasn't played an NFL game yet. But he wouldn't have any problem playing both ways in a flag football world. And his body control is already as good as anyone in the NFL already. Pity the poor defender trying to grab his flag after the catch, if he can even get any playing time as a receiver.
Perhaps we can argue that slot cornerbacks are actually better for flag football, considering the speed and space element involved. I'll assume last season's NFL Defensive Player of the Year will be fine in any environment.
We do have some recent tape of NFL stars playing flag football, from the Pro Bowl Games last season. Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. had three pick 6s and was the defensive MVP of that game and should be considered based on that, but we already have Justin Jefferson from the Vikings. Instead, let's go with DeJean, who had the highest Pro Football Focus grade of any cornerback as a rookie for the Philadelphia Eagles last season, and has experience playing safety, slot corner and outside corner. Besides, the Super Bowl champion Eagles have to have some representation.
Hamilton is the latest Swiss Army knife safety in the NFL, making plays everywhere for the Baltimore Ravens. That versatility is perfect for an Olympic flag football team. Not that it should matter much, given the rest of the starting lineup.

Money in the Bank 2025 date: WWE Money in the Bank match card and predictions

Want to see two WWE wrestlers become future champions in 10 easy steps? Even less if they're tall. It's Money in the Bank weekend and the men and women of WWE are ready to put on a show full of bumps, bruises and falling off ladders. Advertisement This year's show has four matches featured, including a huge tag team all-star match, a Women's Intercontinental championship match and the two Money in the Bank clashes. It should be fun. Here's everything you need to know about the show. When is Money in the Bank? WWE's Money in the bank will be held Saturday, June 10. What time does Money in the Bank start? Money in the Bank starts at 7 p.m. How to watch Money in the Bank In the United States, WWE Money in the Bank will air live on Peacock. It will also be available on traditional pay per view for $44.99. Where is Money in the Bank? WWE's Money in the Bank will be held at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. Does Money in the Bank have a kickoff show? A kickoff show will begin at 6 p.m. Eastern, one hour before the show. It will likely begin after WWE Worlds Collide. It will air on WWE's Youtube page and on Peacock. How long is Money in the Bank? While it's impossible to say, it looks like the card will be about three hours. It's starting at 7, and TKO won't have Money in the Bank air the same time as UFC 316. Will Steve Austin be at UFC 316? If he's not, he should be. WWE Money in the Bank match card Men's Money in the Bank match: Solo Sikoa vs. LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins vs. Penta vs. Andrade vs. El Grande Americano Women's Money in the Bank match: Giulia vs. Stephanie Vaquer vs. Naomi vs. Roxanne Perez vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Rhea Ripley Lyra Valkyria vs. Becky Lynch, Women's Intercontinental championship match Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso vs. John Cena and Logan Paul Money in the Bank predictions There are four matches on the card, which is one less than normal, but that could be thanks to the length of the ladder matches. Here's how we see it playing out. Men's Money in the Bank match Everyone has Seth Rollins as the favorite, but I think he has too many enemies to win this. Sure he has friends, but so many are out to get him. He's a longshot, but I'm sticking with my boy Solo Sikoa to grab the briefcase. He needs it. He's done a lot to make other people look good, he's built other guys, he's been everything WWE could want. Put the belt on him and let him go toe to toe with Jacob Fatu. I'm predicting Solo Sikoa wins. Women's Money in the Bank match Once again, I'm going with the wrestler who deserves it the most. All are deserving, all are capable of big things, but Naomi is who I'm going with. She helped Jade Cargill look great at WrestleMania, and while she held up her end of the bargain, Naomi was the veteran leading that match. She's been a pretty entertaining bad girl, and I'd like to see her with some gold. Naomi wins. Lyra Valkyria vs. Becky Lynch Becky Lynch has helped make Lyra Valkyria a star. And Valkyria is doing her best to hang right there with one of the best women in the world. Guess what? She doesn't at all look out of place. Not in the ring, not even on the microphone where Lynch is one of the best. I thought Valkyria was the star last month and she was great leading up to this rematch. I think she does it again. Valkyria wins. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso vs. John Cena and Logan Paul This match has two of my favorites (Jey Uso, Logan Paul) and two of the biggest stars in the world. But I have little interest in it. It will be fun, and I'm looking forward to what this match leads to, so that will be cool, but I have little interest in who wins. I'm banking on the bad guys winning, and I think Uso and Paul will make the match fun. Cena's matches haven't been good during this championship run. I hope he somehow wins without kicking someone low. Prediction: Logan Paul and John Cena win. Shaquille O'Neal once found David Beckham's wallet, and his reaction was 'surprising'

David Beckham once had an unexpected message after losing his wallet. By a lucky chance the iconic footballer's wallet was picked up by none other than basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal. But the basketball player wasn't going to let the opportunity to joke around with Beckham pass by, the Mirror reports. The pair have been for a number of years since they met when Beckham was with LA Galaxy in Los Angeles, California. Shaq shared that it had crossed his mind to keep the cash in the wallet, but once he realised who it belonged to he changed his mind. "I was walking one day in Beverly Hills and I found a wallet," the 53-year-old recalled during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. "Usually when I find wallets, I just take all the money out and I just throw them," he joked. "But this was a nice wallet." Shaw then noticed Beckham's ID inside the wallet, and decided to play a prank on his friend. "First I played a joke," the American said. "I was like, 'I have your wallet, it's going to cost you a million dollars to get it back'. But he knew it was me. [Beckham said] 'Shaq, stop playing'. I was like 'Dave, I found your wallet'. The funny thing is he [Beckham] said, 'There was some money in this wallet, you know what happened?' And I was like, 'Nope.'" Shaq retired from elite basketball in 2012 and is recognised as one of the greater players of the sport. Towering at 7ft 1in, he helped the Lakers to secure four NBA titles including three with the Lakers during the Kobe Bryant era, and one with the Miami Heat. Beckham retired from professional football in 2013, and has recently been finally confirmed as receiving a knighthood in the king's birthday honours list.

WNBA Makes Big Nneka Ogwumike Announcement on Saturday

WNBA Makes Big Nneka Ogwumike Announcement on Saturday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. All eyes were on United Center on Friday night as the Chicago Sky hosted a Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever side in their second meeting of the season. The Fever sent a strong statement by blowing out the Sky again, 79-52, to go 2-0 in their season series. Advertisement There was another game on the docket, though, as the Seattle Storm and the Phoenix Mercury battled it out following the marquee Fever-Sky matchup. History was made in the Storm-Mercury game, too, with former WNBA Most Valuable Player Nneka Ogwumike marking another historic career milestone. The league took to social media to announce that Ogwumike has climbed to the No. 8 spot in the WNBA's all-time steals list with 628. This is yet another feather added to Ogwumike's cap as the 6-foot-2 forward continues to rewrite the WNBA history books. Ogwumike, 34, has nine All-Star nods to her name, seven All-Defensive team appearances, a seven-time All-WNBA forward and, of course, has a WNBA title under her belt. Advertisement Ogwumike is off to a strong start to the season as well, averaging 16.5 points on 50.0% shooting, 9.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals entering Saturday's game against the Mercury. Seattle will need their star to be at her best again this season as it looks to compete for a playoff spot. The Storm headed into Saturday's matchup with a 4-4 record, and they haven't exactly established themselves as one of the strongest contenders for this year's title. However, if Ogwumike is able to keep her foot on the gas, it would be foolish to count the Storm out.
