Misri arrived here earlier in the day for a two-day visit to the Himalayan nation on the invitation of his Nepalese counterpart Amrit Bahadur Rai.
During his meeting with Oli, which took place at the Prime Minister's Office at Singhdurbar, matters of mutual interest were discussed to further deepen bilateral relations.

Misri "reaffirmed the deep civilizational ties and strong India-Nepal partnership, and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation across various sectors," the Indian embassy here said in an X post.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava was also present at the meeting.

The foreign secretary separately called on President Paudel and conveyed "greetings of the Indian leadership, apart from briefing Hon'ble President on the progress in bilateral ties," the embassy said in a separate post.
He will meet Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba and also hold a bilateral meeting with Nepalese Foreign Secretary Rai later in the day.
Misri will also meet top leaders of major political parties including
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba
and Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda."
His visit reflects the "tradition of regular high-level exchanges between India and Nepal, and reaffirms the commitment to the #NeighbourhoodFirst policy," the Indian embassy said in a social media post.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs here said in a statement on Saturday that connectivity,
development cooperation
and other issues will be discussed during his visit.
Misri will return home on Monday after wrapping up his visit.
People familiar with the matter said the main focus of Misri's engagements in Kathmandu will be on preparing the ground for Prime Minister Oli's trip to New Delhi next month.
Oli is likely to visit India around September 16, according to diplomatic sources. However, the official announcement is yet to be made.

According to market analysts, TCS, the flagship company of the Tata Group, is going through it worst crisis since the 2008 recession, when it shares had fallen by 55 percent. TCS share prices have dipped 25 percent in 2025, and experts predict the current financial could be the worst in company's history if the downfall continues. Why TCS shares are falling? According to analysts, India's stock market has witnessed a turmoil over the past few months as foreign investors are withdrawing from the market in droves amid US President Donald Trump unleashing tariff war against India, and recently announcing 50% import duty on Indian exports. The IT industry, once considered a favorite for FIIs, is now witnessing a decline, with foreign investors reducing their stake in TCS from 12.35% in June 2024 to 11.48% in June 2025, which has resulted in the company's shares falling by over 25 percent in the current financial year. The Nifty IT index has fallen 25% so far this year, making it the worst-performing sector in the market as over half of the Rs 95,600 crore withdrawn from India by FIIs till July 2025 has come from IT stocks alone. Why mutual funds investment increased? Meanwhile, domestic mutual funds have raised their stake in TCS from 4.25% to 5.13%, making fresh purchases worth Rs 400 crore in the company, according to data. TCS' trailing PE declined from 41x to 20x, five-year CAGR stands at 8.5%, while stock CAGR is 6%, the data showed. Notably, India's IT sector has grown at a compounded annual rate of 12.5% over the last two decades, but has underperformed the Nifty over the last three to five years. TCS layoffs According to recent media reports, TCS is mulling to cut about 2 percent of its global workforce, which would result in over 12,000 TCS workers losing their jobs in the current financial year. The company's decision is being investigated, with Jefferies warning that TCS layoffs could result in a slowdown in execution in the near term and an increase in the workforce in the long term.

Foreign Secretary Misri calls on Nepal PM Oli, hands over invite for India visit
Kathmandu/New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who is visiting Kathmandu, called on Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today and formally handed over an invitation for his India visit. During the meeting with Oli at the latter's office in Singha Durbar, Misri handed him the invitation letter on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to the Prime Minister's Secretariat. "During the courtesy meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri handed over an invitation letter from the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, to Oli. Prime Minister Oli thanked him for the invitation," the PM's Secretariat told Nepalkhabar. The Indian side has proposed September 16-17 for Oli's India visit. However, the dates for the visit have not yet been finalised. Misri arrived on a two-day official visit to Nepal in the morning at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart Amrit Bahadur Rai. He paid courtesy calls on President Ram Chandra Paudel, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba. According to the President's Press Advisor, Misri said under PM Modi's policy of prioritising neighbouring countries, Nepal holds an important place. Misri also expressed confidence that his visit would provide an opportunity to discuss enhancing connectivity for mutual progress and development in the modern era, thereby further strengthening bilateral relations. Misri also paid a courtesy call on CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter's personal residence in Lalitpur, according to Dahal's secretariat.
