How Will Services, Mac and iPad Fare in Apple's Q3 Earnings?
Apple 's AAPL third-quarter fiscal 2025 results, to be reported on July 31, are expected to reflect the impact of Apple Intelligence on iPhone, as well as non-iPhone devices: Mac and iPad. Introduction of Apple Intelligence, an advanced personal intelligence system seamlessly integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, is helping Apple sell more of its devices, including the iPhone. The Services business is expected to have benefited from a growing installed base of devices as well as subscriber base of its offerings, including Apple TV+, Apple Pay, Apple Music and more. Apple had more than 1 billion paid subscribers across its Services portfolio at the end of the fiscal second quarter. Paid subscriptions grew double-digits, a trend expected to have continued in the to-be-reported quarter. However, while Mac sales are expected to grow year over year, iPad is anticipated to decline. Services Growth to Ride on Apple TV+, Strong Install Base Severance, along with Ted Lasso, Slow Horses, Silo, and The Gorge, are a few of the Apple TV+ shows and movies that have gained fame in recent years. The company leverages Apple TV+, along with Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and Apple Pay, to attract users to its Services portfolio, which currently has more than 1 billion paid subscribers, more than double what Apple had four years ago. However, Apple TV+ is suffering from stiff competition in the streaming space from the likes of Disney 's DIS Disney+, Netflix NFLX and Peacock. For the fiscal third quarter, Disney expects a modest increase in its Disney+ subscriber base on a sequential basis. Disney closed the second quarter of fiscal 2025 with 180.7 million total streaming subscribers, representing a 2.5% sequential increase. Netflix's strong content performance across global markets, including hits like Exterritorial (89M views) and Tyler Perry's STRAW (109M views), drove member growth that exceeded forecasts in the second quarter of 2025. The quarter was highlighted by Squid Game S3 becoming Netflix's sixth biggest season ever with 122M views. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter fiscal 2025 Services is pegged at $26.96 billion, suggesting 11.3% year-over-year growth. Apple to Benefit From Y/Y Growth in Mac Sales The PC segment climbed up in the second quarter of calendar 2025. Per IDC, Apple had a market share of 9.1%, up 110 basis points (bps) on a year-over-year basis. Shipment grew 21.4% year over year to 6.2 million. Per Gartner, Apple had a market share of 9%, up 70 bps year over year. Apple's estimated shipment growth rate is the largest in IDC's vendor list, followed by ASUS and Lenovo's growth of 16.7% and 15.2%, respectively. Dell Technologies ' DELL shipment declined 3%, while HP saw shipment growth of 3.2%. According to Gartner's list, Lenovo was placed at the #1 spot with shipment growth of 13.9%, trailed by Apple's 13.4% and ASUS' 8.7%. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for fiscal third-quarter Mac net sales is pegged at $7.16 billion, suggesting 2.2% year-over-year growth. Apple's iPad Sales to Decrease Y/Y iPad accounted for roughly 6.7% of fiscal third-quarter net sales. Strong demand for iPad Pro and the launch of 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air benefited sales, which increased 15.2% year over year to $6.4 billion. However, iPad revenues are expected to have suffered from sluggish demand in the to-be-reported quarter. Universal Pictures announced the news Monday in an Instagram post, which also confirmed that the film will be released on Thanksgiving 2026. Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo and Owen Wilson will all return to reprise their characters. Ariana Grande will also be joining the cast, although details about her character have yet to be announced. 'The Focker family is expanding,' the caption for the post – which was also shared by Stiller and Grande's Instagram accounts – read. The first 'Meet the Parents' film was released in 2000, with 2004's 'Meet the Fockers' and 2010's 'Little Fockers' sequels following. The films follow Greg Focker (Stiller), a nurse from Chicago, and his partner Pam (Polo) as he navigates milestones in their relationship while dealing with her overprotective former CIA agent father Jack (De Niro), leading to plenty of hilarious awkward moments along the way. Plot points and details about 'Focker In-Law,' which will be directed by 'Little Fockers' producer John Hamburg, have not yet been released. An announcement from Universal also revealed that 'Booksmart' star Beanie Feldstein will also be featured in the cast. Stiller, Polo and De Niro reunited in June at a Tribeca Film Festival screening of 'Meet the Parents' to mark the film's 25th anniversary, where Stiller teased what audiences can expect for the upcoming sequel. 'What spurred the idea is that I'm the age that Bob was when we did the first movie,' he said, according to Variety. 'It felt like a mirror to the first film, where one of my kids is thinking about introducing his person to the family.' Although they stayed mum on details, De Niro teased that he'd already read the screenplay at the time. 'The script is really fun,' he said. 'I'm looking forward to it.'

Sure it's summer, our short, short summer, but when it hurts to breathe, TV is always there to help. Google 'reinvented the sitcom' and you will not find the name Chuck Lorre, who is responsible for a lot of shows that run long and familiar, usually built around a sharp-tongued central character supported by a kooky cadre of family (Two and a Half Men), roommates (Big Bang Theory) or the like. So the offer here is cosy comfort TV and a lot of it: all 16 episodes at once! Leanne looks and sounds a lot like Lorre's long-running hit Mom, with an older single woman refusing to give up. Standup Leanne Morgan takes the title role, newly single after her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Her 'ride or die' sister is played by Kristen Johnston (The Righteous Gemstones). Their mom is played by Celia Weston (The Blacklist). Ryan Stiles (Drew Carey Show) is the errant husband. Let the binge — and pelvic-floor jokes — begin. ● Chief of War Series premières the first two of nine episodes on Friday, Aug. 1 on Apple TV+ Apple TV+ Jason Momoa stars in Chief of War. Looks spectacular. ● Marc Maron: Panicked Comedy special premières on Friday, Aug. 1 on HBO Crave Stephen Colbert's Late Show isn't the only farewell unsettling comedy lovers (in case you missed it, CBS is axing that late-night stalwart entirely in May 2026). As well, Marc Maron is ending his long-running, quite excellent interview podcast, WTF, 'sometime in the fall,' he told NPR. He says he's burned out, he's been busy acting (Stick, just renewed for a second season) and who knows what else is on the horizon. Maybe even another podcast, he says. In the meantime, here's his second comedy special for HBO to help quell your comedy-news panic. Or his panic, with his trademark 'intrusive catastrophic thinking.' ● Eyes of Wakanda Animated prequel series premières all four episodes Friday, rescheduled from late August, on Disney+ I'm utterly overwhelmed and unmoored from the global timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but I did love Black Panther so much back in 2018 that I might try this new series, which 'follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history.' Plus it's four episodes. I can do it! If you are keeping track, this is a Black Panther prequel and first TV entry into the MCU's Phase 6 — which was launched by the new movie reboot of Fantastic Four, in theatres now. Following on the great success of the very fun Heads of State, which premièred July 2 with John Cena and Idris Elba playing world-leader action heroes, comes The Pickup. The storyline is immaterial with a cast including Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, Eva Longoria, Andrew Dice Clay and Keke Palmer. But if pressed, here is the one-liner: regular-guy armoured-truck drivers bicker but eventually rise to the challenge after being ambushed by 'ruthless criminals.'
