Actor Vaani Kapoor has spoken about the challenges she faced at the beginning of her career. She shared that she was rejected for a film role due to her skin tone and was often body-shamed for being too skinny. In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, the 'Mandala Murders' actor reflected on how these early rejections didn't deter her self-belief. "A filmmaker had once said that I wasn't fair enough to land a role. He said that I wasn't 'milky white'," Vaani shared, adding that while the remark didn't come to her directly, she learned about it through others. Despite the comment, Vaani has remained confident in her identity and abilities.advertisementThe actor also addressed the body-shaming she continues to experience, especially around her slim frame. "What I hear a lot sometimes is that I'm too skinny and that I should put on some weight, because people like women with fuller bodies. But I like me! I don't want to change anything about myself. I'm fit and healthy. I usually don't get bothered by these things. Sometimes, you don't know if such comments are coming from a place of concern or like good advice. But I think I'm pretty okay and I like who I am," she said.
Currently, Vaani is gearing up for the release of her upcoming crime thriller series 'Mandala Murders', where she plays a sharp, no-nonsense investigative officer. Co-directed by 'Mardaani' filmmaker Gopi Puthran and Manan Rawat, the show explores a series of ritualistic murders in the mysterious town of Charandaspur.According to IMDb, the show's synopsis reads - "In a quaint, mysterious town of Charandaspur, where fate, myth, and murder entwine, detectives Rea Thomas and Vikram Singh unravel a chilling conspiracy of ritualistic killings tied to a centuries-old secret society."The series also stars Surveen Chawla, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Jameel Khan, and is set to premiere on Netflix on July 25.- EndsMust Watch
