Miss World contestant pulls out after she claims organizers in India made her ‘feel like a prostitute'

New York Post25-05-2025
A Miss World contestant has dramatically quit the pageant — after she claims organizers in India paraded her around like a 'performing monkey' and made her 'feel like a prostitute,' during contest events, according to a report.
Milla Magee, 24, made history as the first Miss England to quit the contest in its 74-year run, The Sun reported.
During a May 7 publicity event for the contest in Hyderabad, Magee described how Miss World contestants had to wear ball gowns all day, even during breakfast.

Her final straw with the contest was when she was allegedly asked to entertain middle-aged businessmen at tables as a 'thank you' for the money they had put into the show, the outlet said.
'We were expected to sit with them for the whole evening and entertain them as a thank you,' she the UK newspaper.
'I found that unbelievable. I remember thinking, 'This is so wrong.' I didn't come here to be farmed out for people's entertainment. Miss World is supposed to have the same values, but it's outdated and stuck in the past. They made me feel like a prostitute.'
'At one point, I tried to talk about the causes I was supporting, but it was obvious the men at the table were not interested. Instead, there was weird small-talk that left me feeling uncomfortable… We were there to please these people and sit like performing monkeys. I couldn't stand it,' she fumed.

Magee even said organizers berated contestants for being 'boring' and claimed one clapped her hands in her face.
'She clapped her hands right in my face to get my attention and as a signal for people to listen to her… It was so disrespectful, like she was addressing children rather than a coach full of adult women,' she told the outlet.
On May 16, Magee quit the contest and flew home to Cornwall — allowing runner-up Charlotte Grant, 25, the current Miss Liverpool, to take her place.
The 24-year-old previously advocated to scrap Miss World's swimwear round and allow contestants to be judged on life-saving skills like chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Magee is a trained lifeguard and strong advocate for CPR education after a personal tragedy left her family helpless during an emergency.
Angie Beasley, director of Miss England, announced Magee's departure for 'personal reasons.'
'We regret to announce that Milla Magee has returned home to the UK due to personal reasons, Beaseley said, according to the outlet.
'We stand fully by her decision — health must always come first.'

Singer Tamar Braxton reveals she 'almost died' after bloody facial injury

Tamar Braxton is coping with a recent health scare. The "Celebrity Big Brother" winner, 48, took to her Instagram story on Aug. 19 to share that she'd broken her nose, lost "some teeth" and experienced impaired mobility over the weekend. "I struggled to write this but everyone keeps calling me and honestly, I can't even really talk anymore I'm so weak," she wrote. "I almost died Sunday. I was found in a pool of blood from my friend with a face injury," she wrote." "As the days go by the worse it is," she continued. 'I fractured my nose, lost some teeth and mobility. The way I look at life now is totally different. As my health is on the mend my mental journey begins.. pray for me for real. I don't even know what happened to me.' USA TODAY has reached out to Braxton's representative for comment. Braxton, who hosts MTV's "Caught in the Act: Double Life," has a history of being open about her physical and mental struggles. As she competed on Season 21 of "Dancing with the Stars" in 2015, Braxton had to drop out of the competition after being hospitalized. What she'd thought was pneumonia was diagnosed as blood clots in her lungs. Years later, she spoke out against "toxic" forces in the television industry in 2020. After nearly a decade of starring on We TV's "Braxton Family Values" alongside her mother Evelyn and sisters, — Toni, Traci, Towanda, and Trina Braxton — she claimed she was "betrayed, taken advantage of, overworked, and underpaid." Braxton also mentioned her "cry for help" went unheeded, and she survived a suicide attempt. Soon after she made her story public, We TV said it would "honor her request to end all future work for the network." If you or someone you know may be struggling with suicidal thoughts, you can call or text 988 or chat online any time of day. Jennifer Tilly, 66, Poses for Nude 'Thirst Trap' Photo in Her Swimming Pool

The 'RHOBH' star posed for the revealing snap wearing nothing but red lipstick, sunglasses and a flower in her hair NEED TO KNOW Jennifer Tilly stripped down to nothing but red lipstick, sunglasses and a flower in her hair for an Instagram post on Monday, Aug. 18 "Thirst trap," she simply captioned the photo Tilly joined season 14 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as a friend of the show last year Jennifer Tilly is baring all! The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 66, stripped down to nothing but sunglasses and a flower in her hair for an Instagram post shared Monday, Aug. 18. Leaving little to the imagination, Tilly stood completely nude in a pool as she folded her arms and stared into the camera, completing her look with red lipstick. She received lots of love in the comments section from fellow Bravolebrities and fans. LaLa Kent applauded Tilly's post with a "👏" Emoji while Lisa Rinna wrote, "🔥🔥🔥." Actress Donna D'Errico commented, "On fire! 🔥," while another fan added, "Consider me trapped." The Chucky actress joined season 14 of RHOBH as a friend of the show last year. She revealed what it was really like to film for the series, confessing it wasn't as glamorous as she thought it would be. 'I remember I was like, 'I live in Beverly Hills, and it'd be kind of fun to see Beverly Hills through the lens of really rich people,' ' she told Vulture in an interview published in August 2024. 'I thought that I was going to see a lot of people shopping on Rodeo Drive, but a lot of the filming that they do is in the Valley, in places where it's easier to get permits. So it's not like you're at the fanciest places in Beverly Hills, arguing.' Still, she later added that there was no shortage of drama. 'You come in without a script. It's just sort of like they just wade in there, and they go at it,' the Academy Award winner continued. 'In real life, if you're at a restaurant and people at the table are screaming at each other, you're mortified like, 'Oh my God. I can't believe I'm with these uncouth people.' But when I am sitting at a table with Housewives, I feel like I have a front-row seat at the Super Bowl.' Tilly also noted that she has no regrets about her new gig. 'I appreciate what they do,' she said of Housewives. 'I'm just going to say it's really challenging. It's the craziest thing I've ever done, but I'm really happy I'm doing it, and I think it's such an interesting kind of sharp left turn for my career.' "I'm not a Housewife. I'm a Friend, though, which is a lot easier," she continued in part. "You just dip in and out. You try to avoid, like, flying shrapnel. And you know, if drinks are thrown, I have good reflexes." The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills can be streamed on Peacock. Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword
