Saifuddin: Rafizi needs to focus on PKR election campaign
"I believe the priority should be to complete the campaign in accordance with the rules, where we explain our track record and share our vision for strengthening the party.
"We should not be distracted by external factors or concerns. Rafizi is a close friend of mine, and we speak on the phone almost every day.
"It is my responsibility to tell him to focus on the party election campaign, especially with the election just around the corner," he said after attending the launch of Battalion 21 General Operations Force (PGA) Keningau, Battalion 22 PGA Kunak and Battalion 23 PGA Sri Aman at the Sabah PGA Brigade today.
Present were Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun.
Yesterday, while speaking at the 'Hidupkan Idealisme Reformasi Dalam Ujian Kuasa' programme in Kuching, Rafizi hinted that he might be barred from entering Sarawak again if he no longer holds a position in the government or party, including as PKR deputy president in the future.
He said before being appointed as a minister in the unity government, he was already accustomed to being banned from entering Sarawak.
As such, he added, it is not impossible for the ban to be reinstated if he no longer holds a position in the party or cabinet.
Saifuddin, who is also home minister, said he is confident Sarawak today is an important strategic partner in contributing to the political stability of the country.
"As I mentioned earlier, one of the key indicators in the Global Peace Index that carries significant weight is political stability.
"Sarawak is a friendly state. I believe there is no need for us to make any statement or take actions prematurely before something actually happens," he said.

The unity government spokesman said the instruction was given by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. "Since the case involving Rafizi's son is still under police investigation and the Selangor police chief has issued a statement, it is up to the Home Minister whether he wishes to address it in his statement on Monday," Fahmi told reporters after the 20th Civil Service Premier Assembly here on Friday (Aug 15). He added that the Prime Minister had expressed a firm stance against bullying, following discussions in the Cabinet, including on the death of Zara Qairina in Sabah and the case involving a Palapes cadet. "The Prime Minister made it clear this morning that bullying will not be allowed to persist. "Among the measures being discussed by ministers is coordinated action as amendments to Section 507 of the Penal Code, which define bullying as a criminal offence, came into effect in July. "We want to ensure implementation of the amended law is understood by all ministries, especially those managing educational institutions, including boarding schools," he said. Fahmi also said that Anwar had commented on the conduct of certain individuals deemed inappropriate or disrespectful, adding that enforcement action would be taken against such behaviour.
