Zakir Khan Met BTS In Korea But Didn't Recognise Them: 'Who Are You?'
Last Updated: Zakir Khan once met band members of BTS in Korea — but didn't know who they were. Imagine being in a room with one of the biggest music groups in the world — and not recognising them. That's exactly what happened to Indian comedian Zakir Khan, who unknowingly spent time with the members of BTS during a visit to South Korea. Sharing the hilarious story in a recent chat with The Lallantop, Zakir said he had travelled to Korea for an event where a top celebrity was scheduled to appear. Coincidentally, the global K‑pop group BTS was also there to meet the same celebrity. But Zakir, who admits he tends to overthink things, didn't quite put the pieces together. 'I happened to go to Korea once, and there is a very famous band there by the name of BTS. I knew there is a band called BTS and I also know that they are famous. And by chance I went there for an event to interview a very big celebrity and the band was also there to meet the same person," he said. Because he arrived late, Zakir was grouped with the BTS members in the final entry batch. 'So I asked one of the members, 'Who are you and where are you from', and he told me they are from BTS. I thought that the Korean organising team has called for a behind-the-scenes team," he added. He remained blissfully unaware until later. 'I was totally unaware of the fact that they are famous people. Later, when I told people that for 35 minutes I was in the same room as them, they fainted." BTS is a seven-member South Korean boy band made up of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Known for their chart-topping hits, high-energy performances, and massive global fanbase (called ARMY), they became one of the most influential music acts in the world. After taking a break for mandatory military service, all seven members have now completed their enlistment and returned to the spotlight with solo music, live shows, and fan interactions. The band — Jin, Suga, J‑Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — has since returned from military service and resumed solo activities, with fans eagerly following every move. Megan Thee Stallion, Vanilla Ice, PSY and ITZY all in one room? Kpopped brings the best of the west to Seoul
Just when you thought the K-pop crossover wave couldn't get any wilder, in comes KPopped — a new Apple TV+ show that's part remix battle and honestly, part fever dream. The eight-episode music series brings together some of K-pop's hottest groups with legendary Western pop stars for reimagined versions of their biggest hits. Yes, really. From Savage to Wannabe to Ice Ice Baby, the songs get a full K-pop makeover — complete with new choreography, outfits, and live performances in front of a Seoul audience that picks the winner. Think of it as the musical multiverse you didn't know you needed. Kpopped brings the best of the west to Seoul The lineup? Unhinged in the best way possible. K-pop groups like Billlie, Itzy, Kep1er, JO1, Ateez, STAYC, Kiss of Life, and Blackswan will be joining forces with Western legends including Megan Thee Stallion, Patti LaBelle, Mel B and Emma Bunton of the Spice Girls, Vanilla Ice, Kesha, TLC, Kylie Minogue, Boyz II Men and more. The show is hosted by comedian Soojeong Son and features Psy and Stallion as star mentors. Naturally, the internet is already spiraling 'Looks like a fun show. Imagine this leads to more positive collabs in the future, this is good for the mid-tier groups like Billlie and Kep1er. Just for the laughs, I would love to see a Mnet styled show, with zoom ins or close ups of voice cracks, 'evil editing' and repetitive repeats of choreo mistakes,' wrote one fan. Another added, 'Dang, these are some heavy-hitter A-List musicians collaborating in this project. Personally, looking forward to Billlie. Taylor Dayne has a ridiculous voice but pairing with Vanilla Ice? That one is unexpected.' Someone else noted, 'Vanilla Ice and Kep1er is either going to be the best thing ever or beautifully chaotic. No in-between.' Others were equally floored by the lineup. 'This is the most unexpected lineup ever,' said one. Another declared, 'This is going to be such a fun show.' One person summed it up best: 'This isn't a concert, it's a multiverse collision.' And finally: 'Such a random, yet iconic lineup! We are seated for all of these collabs!' KPopped premieres August 29, and if nothing else, it's proof that chaotic TV is still alive and well.

BTS faces backlash over alleged Michael Jackson collaboration: ‘Literally no one wants this'
BTS may be about to enter their most controversial decade to date. According to reports, the South Korean supergroup is working on a top-secret tribute project as they get ready for their reunion: recording an unreleased song that was originally written for Michael Jackson . The song was recorded during Jackson's 2006 stay in Ireland at the Grouse Lodge studio, where he worked on an unfinished album. Paddy Dunning, the owner of the studio, recently disclosed that BTS came to re-record one of those long-lost songs there last year. "The sessions started last year, and we have already had the Korean boy band BTS over with us in Grouse Lodge, recording one of the songs," Dunning said in an interview with The Irish Sun. "There are about ten more, written especially for Michael by the collaborators he worked with in Ireland, including producer Rodney Jerkins and rapper Nephew, who have signed up for the project." In addition to the music, Dunning revealed that a documentary about Jackson's contented life in Ireland with his kids is currently in development. 'Michael's estate told me to plough ahead with this because, like me, they see it as a tribute to Michael. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cesar Millan Reveals What Honey Does to Your Aging Dog Experts In Pet Health Learn More Undo And for the documentary, we're going to get everyone's memories of working with Michael in Ireland," he continued. During a trip to the United States, the owner even had the opportunity to meet Prince, Jackson's oldest son. Prince allegedly stated that he, Paris, and Blanket hope to visit the studio again in the future as they discussed the family's stay at Grouse Lodge. Netizens are not overjoyed Although the partnership is being marketed as a tribute, online responses seem to indicate otherwise. While many fans are excited, many others are suspicious, if not outright annoyed. One user on X questioned, "Have Michael Jackson's family and estate approved of this?" Another user commented, "I don't have anything against them, but their style/sound has nothing in common with MJ... This song will NOT be good.' "They're so desperate, oh my goodness," one fan commented, while another added, "If anyone had the honor of this, it should have been Gaga. " One user questioned, "Who asked for this, no shade?" while another said bluntly, "They're not even close to Michael Jackson's level, mind you… so that's a lot of nerve.' Some were even more severe. One person said, "This is so disrespectful; we need to cancel BTS now." Another said, 'They're going to ruin it.' 'Literally no one wants this. K-pop, stop biting off of other artists challenge!', according to another comment. Another said, 'They're doing anything for a comeback clearly.' "Who are they to even touch Michael Jackson's music?" said another. It's undeniable that BTS has always admired Jackson, even in spite of the criticism. In many respects, their English hit song Dynamite was a visual and vocal tribute to the King of Pop. In addition, the group has consistently stated that he is an inspiration to them, even receiving an honorary mention in his documentary Thriller 40 (2023). Time (and streaming numbers) will tell if this new project turns out to be a musical misstep or a heartfelt tribute, but it might just be an extension of that same respect.
