MG Windsor EV long-range variant in pipeline, to get a 50.6 kWh battery pack
MG Windsor EV has become the key model from the automaker in 2024. The electric car that was launched with a battery-as-a-subscription (BaaS) program now comes powered by a 38 kWh battery pack. However, with the rising demand and sales numbers, MG has now decided to bring a long-range variant of the EV, which will come powered by a bigger battery pack.
The MG Windsor EV long-range variant is expected to hit the market sometime next month. It would come powered by a 50.6 kWh battery pack, which would allow the electric car to run up to 460 kilometres on a single charge. This will put the upcoming version of Windsor EV on par with the MG ZS EV.

Powering the upcoming variant of the MG Windsor EV would be a front-wheel drivetrain, which will be capable of churning out 131.3 bhp peak power and 200 Nm of maximum torque. The upcoming variant of the MG Windsor EV is expected to run at a top speed of 175 kmph, which is exactly the same as the existing Windsor EV. The EV currently comes promising 20-100 per cent charge in seven hours, while using a DC fast charger, it can be topped up from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.
With a bigger battery pack, the upcoming long-range version of the MG Windsor EV would come commanding a premium of ₹4 lakh over the existing model's top trim. In that case, the upcoming long version of Windsor EV would come directly challenging the electric SUVs like Tata Curvv.ev and the Mahindra BE6.
MG has tasted pretty good success with the Windsor EV in the Indian market within a short span after its launch. Now, the auto company aims to continue that momentum and leverage the rising demand for electric vehicles with the upcoming long-range variant of the EV.

KP Group, Delta Electronics India ink 3 strategic initial pacts
Surat-based KP Group on Friday said it has inked three strategic initial pacts with energy and power management solutions provider Delta Electronics India . This collaboration spans three high-impact areas: Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Green Hydrogen and EV Charging Infrastructure and Solar PV Inverters , a statement said. The Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed by Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India, and Faruk Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KP Group, marking a significant step toward co-developing future-ready energy infrastructure that aligns with India's clean energy ambitions. Delta Electronics India and KP Group already share a long-standing relationship. The newly signed MoUs deepen this collaboration and provide a structured framework to accelerate renewable energy and clean technology deployment at scale, the statement added. The Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) MoU outlines a detailed framework for developing and deploying scalable BESS projects. Live Events In this, KP Group will help in project development, site integration, and regulatory coordination to accelerate the deployment of BESS solutions, whereas Delta will supply key power electronics, including inverters and energy management systems, along with design, integration, and commissioning support, it said. Together, the two companies will deliver energy storage projects in India and potentially overseas markets. As part of the pact focusing on integrated green hydrogen refuelling and EV charging infrastructure, KP Group will lead the development of green hydrogen production plants powered by renewable energy. Delta will contribute critical technology, including energy management systems, hydrogen compression and dispensing components, as well as EV charging hardware and software, and integrated energy management systems. Both parties will jointly design and implement green hydrogen stations and EV charging hubs across India. Under the solar PV inverter agreement, Delta will supply approximately 1 GW of next-generation grid-connected solar inverters over the next 12 months for KP Group's upcoming solar projects across India and selected overseas markets. These are future-ready, supporting both solar-only and hybrid (solar plus storage) configurations. Niranjan Nayak, MD of Delta Electronics India, said, "This collaboration is a strong testament to the trust and shared values between Delta and KP Group." Faruk Patel, CMD of KP Group, stated, "Our partnership is not just about products - it's about co-creating solutions that empower India's energy independence. Whether it is solar, storage, or hydrogen, we believe our combined strengths can build a cleaner, more sustainable tomorrow." KP Group brings to the table integrated expertise across project development, power generation, infrastructure execution, and renewable manufacturing, while Delta brings global experience in high-efficiency power electronics, hydrogen-ready infrastructure, and intelligent controls. Indian EV Industry being hurt by additional restrictions on rare earth minerals by China: Jefferies
New Delhi [India], June 6 (ANI): The EV companies in the country is already facing heat with China's supply restrictions on the rare earth metals, according to a report by Jefferies. The Jefferies report highlighted that several Indian companies are struggling to import magnets from China, which are crucial components in the production of EV motors. The report warned that once the current stock of these magnets runs out, motor production could be severely affected, putting the entire supply chain at risk. It said 'Based on our conversations with Indian companies, industry is facing a challenge in importing magnets from China and EV motor production could be at risk once the existing magnet inventories get exhausted'. Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) too have echoed the sentiment and in its monthly vehicle data release on Friday said 'Global supply-chain headwinds (rare-earth constraints in EV components, geopolitical tensions) may limit urban consumer sentiment and exert cost pressure.' To deal with the situation, companies are considering importing fully assembled motors from China. However, this option comes with challenges. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) would have to make major changes in their supply chains. Additionally, vehicles might require fresh homologation approvals to meet Indian standards. This shift could also lead to a drop in domestic value addition, which is essential to qualify for the government's Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. China had earlier, on April 4, imposed export controls on six heavy rare earth elements (REEs) and rare earth magnets. The country cited reasons like national security and international obligations such as non-proliferation. Although these curbs are not a complete ban on exports for the auto sector, companies must now seek prior government approval before shipping these materials out of China. This adds uncertainty and delay in the supply process. The report also mentioned that the Indian government is aware of the growing risks. According to a Reuters report on Friday, India is in discussions with various companies to build long-term stockpiles of rare earth magnets. As part of this plan, Indian government is likely to offer fiscal incentives to promote domestic production of these crucial components. Contrary to their name, rare earth elements, especially the lighter ones, are not actually rare in the Earth's crust. But they are spread out in low concentrations, which makes extraction and processing difficult. The global supply chain for these elements is heavily dependent on China, which currently accounts for about 70 per cent of the world's mined REEs and roughly 90 per cent of refined production. China also produces nearly 90 per cent of the world's rare earth magnets, especially the heavy rare earths. With China now increasing its restrictions even further, the supply chain could face more disruptions in the coming months, posing a serious threat to India's EV sector. (ANI)
