Costco members vent on their biggest gripe… and it's an infuriating habit of other customers

Daily Mail8 hours ago

Costco members are venting about an infuriating in-store habit — big families who walk 'shoulder to shoulder' in stores.
More and more shoppers say they're fed up with fellow members who show up with their entire extended family, clogging aisles and moving in slow-motion packs.
'First of all, your spouse and kids are one thing,' one frustrated shopper wrote on Reddit.
'But why bring pee paw, mee maw, your brother, your cousin, your second aunt twice removed, her 8 kids and the guy you met at the ball game?'
'And why do you insist on all walking shoulder to shoulder, creating a wall that moves at the speed of a snail fart?.'
Other Costco customers were quick to agree with the member's gripe, calling the behavior one of the chain's most maddening quirks.
'This is a personal hell for me. Glad I'm not alone,' one member replied.
'One of my biggest pet peeves in the store. That and when people stop and stand there right after entering the store. Move out of the way,' another chimed in.
Some say shopping at Costco now feels more like navigating a theme park, with several Redditors likening it to 'walking around Disney World.'
The chain, which Reddit users claimed has members with 'main character syndrome,' was recently dethroned as the top grocery store in customer satisfaction.
'What bugs me is when people scan their card at the entrance, walk 3 feet then stop to put the card back in their wallet,' a shopper wrote.
'I'm always behind these people who are completely unaware of anyone around them.'
'I get annoyed at every child under six not in a basket or right next to their parent,' another person admitted.
'The amount of children who've sprinted in front of me, only for their parents to give me a dirty look is absurd.'
A few shoppers claimed they 'didn't mind' the 'should to shoulder' customers and had tricks on how to deal with it.
'You just gotta go into Costco with the acceptance mindset that people are going to be in your way and run into you. It just is what it is. It's a part of shopping there,' a customer responded.
Other tricks Costco members suggested the customer do next time include shopping at specific times or kindly speaking up.
Costco has been the target of social media backlash multiple times this year
Costco has received social media backlash for several changes that have taken effect this year.
Instagram users trashed Costco's Pepsi and Coca-Cola swap after a member spotted a Coke machine in one of its food courts.
Members from the US and Canada were also furious after claiming Costco quietly hiked food court prices.
Its food court has also been a hot Reddit topic due to talked-about menu items like the hot turkey and provolone sandwich and Frozen Strawberry Lemonade.
As of now, the member-only retailer has not confirmed if it raised food court prices this year.
However, it's made it clear on several occasions that it will never change the price of its $1.50 hot dog and soda combo.
Other Costco changes that caused a social media frenzy include its gold bar purchase limit, select Kirkland Signature products, and its decision to hike membership fees.
