Saudi academy concludes Arabic program in Spain
RIYADH: The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language has concluded its Arabic Language Month program in Spain, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Held throughout April, the initiative is part of the academy's global project to support Arabic education for non-native speakers and promote collaboration with international academic and cultural institutions.
The program included a range of educational and cultural events across Spanish cities such as Madrid, Granada and Cordoba.
Activities featured an exhibition, seminars, training courses, language proficiency tests and student competitions, organized in partnership with Spanish universities and institutions.
Key collaborators included Casa Arabe, Rey Juan Carlos University, the Autonomous University of Madrid and the University of Granada.
Targeting Arabic learners, educators and specialists, the program offered training sessions, awareness activities and academic forums.
It concluded in Cordoba with an introductory lecture and open forum for Arabic language enthusiasts.
The lecture outlined the academy's global vision, highlighted its international projects and explored future partnerships with Spanish institutions.
The initiative has also been implemented in countries such as Uzbekistan, Indonesia, China, India, France, Brazil, Thailand and Malaysia, expanding its global reach.

Saudi Arabia will broadcast its Arafat Sermon in real-time in 34 languages this year, aiming to reach all Muslims worldwide. This initiative marks the first time Saudi authorities have undertaken such an effort to ensure that pilgrims worldwide can understand the Arafat Sermon, traditionally delivered in Arabic. The Arafat Sermon, delivered on the Day of Arafat, represents a key ritual of the Hajj pilgrimage. Millions of Muslims worldwide follow this significant event. On 5 June, more than two million pilgrims from around the globe will gather on the plains of Mount Arafat to perform the Day of Arafat, engaging in supplication and prayer. Comprehensive Translation Project In an official announcement, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque confirmed the completion of preparations for the Arafat sermon translation project. This year, the Grand Imam of the Holy Mosques, Sheikh Saleh al Humaid, will deliver the sermon from Masjid Namirah. The project aims to convey Islam's message of tolerance to a global audience in their native languages. This initiative fosters better communication between Muslims and non-Muslims, highlighting the Kingdom's pivotal role in serving the two holy mosques. The project will provide real-time translation of the Arafat sermon in over 34 languages, making it one of the largest initiatives of the Hajj season. The authority emphasized that this effort underscores Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to supporting pilgrims worldwide. A key feature of the project includes the integration of Quick Response (QR) codes. These codes will offer easy access to both textual and audio translations, enhancing the experience for pilgrims. Languages Available for Broadcast The Arafat Sermon will be broadcast in the following 34 languages: Arabic, Urdu, English, French, Indonesian, Persian (Farsi), Hausa, Chinese (Mandarin), Russian, Bengali, Turkish, Malay (Bahasa Melayu), Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Filipino (Tagalog), Amharic (Ethiopia), Bosnian, Hindi, Dutch, Thai, Malayalam, Swahili, Pashto, Tamil, Azerbaijani, Swedish, Uzbek, Albanian, Fulani (Fula), Somali, Rohingya, and Yoruba. This extensive range enables pilgrims to listen to the sermon in their respective languages, regardless of their location. To expand the reach and amplify the impact of this service, authorities will display QR codes on screens in key facilities, buses, and pilgrim accommodations. Additionally, the government has promoted the service through various media platforms and shared it with international media in coordination with the Saudi Ministry of Media. This initiative represents a significant milestone in Hajj history, showcasing Saudi Arabia's commitment to leveraging technology for religious services. By providing real-time translations, the Kingdom ensures that the spiritual experience of Hajj is accessible to all pilgrims, regardless of their linguistic background. Saudi Interior Ministry issues Hajj safety and security guide
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior on Tuesday published a comprehensive guide designed to ensure the safety, security and smooth movement of pilgrims during Hajj. It provides detailed instructions for the pilgrimage experience, including directions to the Grand Mosque in Makkah and maps of pedestrian routes and walkways leading to key ritual sites such as the Tawaf and Sa'i zones. To help manage the crowds and ensure orderly movement of pilgrims, the guide highlights peak times within the Grand Mosque and its courtyards, as well as guidance on the use of vehicles during Hajj season. It also explains crowd-management protocols, and stresses the important need for all pilgrims to adhere to designated grouping times when performing rituals during the various stages of the pilgrimage, including Tawaf, Sa'i and the stoning of the Jamarat. The ministry said the guide is designed to help pilgrims perform their rituals safely, easily and with peace of mind, the Saudi Press Agency reported. It reiterated that official regulations require all pilgrims performing Hajj to have a permit, and warned of penalties for any person who breaks these rules. Citizens and residents were urged to comply with all Hajj-related regulations and report any violations by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province, or 999 in other parts of the Kingdom.
