Now, Britney has addressed the controversy in her own unique way - with an Instagram video showing her toasting the camera while on the plane.
In her caption, she wrote: " 'Me yesterday!!!' before claiming she thought the officials who greeted her were there to support her.
'I was like WOW I feel special!!!' she wrote.
The Gimme More songstress then launched into a further explanation, writing: 'Some planes I've been on you can't smoke mostly but this one was different because the drink holders were on the outside of the seat!!!'

She added that it was her 'first time drinking vodka' and claimed it made her feel 'so SMART!!!'
Britney said she asked for a cigarette, which a friend lit for her, leading her to assume it was allowed on that particular flight.
'I was like OH SO THIS IS A PLANE WHERE YOU CAN SMOKE!!!' she wrote, before apologising to 'anyone I offended'.
She also took issue with one of the flight attendants, alleging they wouldn't let her stand up for the first 20 minutes and were overly forceful when helping with her seatbelt.

However, cops still confronted her when she landed at Los Angeles International Airport, per the outlet.
She was reportedly issued a warning and then allowed to go free.
Sources told TMZ that Britney was "difficult" on the trip.
On a private jet, the owner decides if smoking is allowed in the aircraft cabin.
Customs and Border Protection didn't immediately respond to The U.S. Sun's request for comment.
LAX police and the LAPD also haven't returned The U.S. Sun's request for comment.
The commotion comes after reports that Spears was sober just last year.

Well-known social media personality praises Wexford humour during visit
Fabu-D moved to Ireland when he was 14 years old and gained fame through his social media videos where he portrays comedic characters that also touch on his experience as an immigrant in Ireland. He currently boasts over 619,000 followers on Facebook, nearly 700,000 on TikTok and 184,000 on Instagram. He travelled down to Enniscorthy for the 'Dublin Invasion' comedy show hosted by Brendan Robinson and featuring acts Joe Dowlin, Willa White, and Eric Lalor in the IFA centre on Friday, July 18. Taking to social media, he filmed his escapades around the town, taking in the sites while conversing with people he passed on the street. "Wexford is known for two things; strawberries and legends,' he said before taking a closer look at the colourful umbrella installations on Slaney Street that has become affectionately named 'Umbrella Street' by locals and visitors. While on his stroll, people stopped their cars and crossed the street just to shake hands with him. "Enniscorthy is active,' he added. On his quick tour he also stopped by the White House Bar and M&M Meats to get an in-depth look at their award-winning sausage. After getting recommendations on where he should have a meal, he popped into the local Holy Grail restaurant where he met owner Biju and thoroughly enjoyed a dish of half and half curry. "The chips are very nice, very very fresh. I'm going to rate this a ten out of ten – unreal. This is the definition of a 'Holy Grail'. I love the chef,' he said. Grateful for his fans, he made time to take photos and shake hands with the crowd of local young people who followed him into the restaurant. "I had a great time in Enniscorthy.
