And Just Like That star requested more nude scenes in season three: ‘My DMs blew up the next day'

Independent17-04-2025
And Just Like That star Mario Cantone has revealed he insisted on filming more nude scenes after his season two sex scene was met with overwhelming fan praise.
The 65-year-old actor, who was first introduced as event planner Anthony Marentino in the original Sex and the City series, returned to the Max reboot alongside leads Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon.
In episode 10 of the most recent season, Anthony is seen in bed with his new romantic interest, Giuseppe (Sebastiano Pigazzi), a young Italian poet and new employee of Anthony's Hot Fellas bakery. After the two get into a tiff over Anthony's preferences in bed, he gets up to go to the bathroom. As he turns around to walk away, he shows off his bare naked bum.
Speaking about the positive fan response to his nudity during a recent interview on Davis' Are You a Charlotte? podcast, Cantone recalled getting bombarded on social media with private messages after the episode's release.
'My DMs blew up the next day,' he said, adding that before filming for the new season began, he told showrunner and executive producer Michael Patrick King he wanted 'more nudity.'
'I like being sexualized at 65 years old. It's good,' Cantone joked.
The forthcoming series of And Just Like will welcome the return of the show's leading trio, Parker as Carrie, Davis as Charlotte, and Nixon as Miranda. In addition to Cantone, it will also welcome back Sarita Choudhury as Carrie's friend and realtor, Seema, and Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa Todd Wexley, a fellow parent and board member at the private school Charlotte's children also attend.
Sara Ramirez's non-binary stand-up comic and podcast host, Che Diaz, would not be returning. Their two-season appearance on the show, which included a romantic romp with Miranda, faced backlash from fans, who found them to be the show's most insufferable character.
Earlier this week, Max released the season three trailer, which teased that there's 'nothing like summer in New York City' and showed Carrie (Parker) turning her hand to fiction writing, tackling a rat infestation in her home and, of course, dealing with the twists and turns of her love life.
Season three of And Just Like That premieres on Thursday, May 29 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET on Max in the U.S. and on Sky TV and Now in the U.K. The rest of the 12-episode season will be released weekly thereafter, concluding with the season finale on August 14.

Strictly drug scandal, sexual slurs, 'Z-list' line-up - will it survive another year?

Strictly Come Dancing has been plagued by scandals, but it's still winging its way to our screens in September, despite some viewers calling for its axe Strictly Come Dancing has been sullied by scandals over the last few years, tarnishing its former family-friendly reputation. Kicking off in 2023 with the drama surrounding Giovanni Pernice - who was accused of bullying Sherlock star, Amada Abbington - the show's reputation as the jewel in the Beeb's crown seemed to be perilously precarious. ‌ After Giovanni was cleared of some but not all of the charges against him made by Amanda, his fellow Italian Graziano di Primo was also given the boot after footage of him appearing to kick Love Island star, Zara McDermott, in the rehearsal studio was leaked. ‌ Graziano apologised after his exit from Strictly, insisting: "I wasn't meaning to kick her. I'd never, never do that. My foot brushed her after I kicked the floor." But viewers weren't happy, with many urging the BBC to pull the plug. It comes as a PR expert has warned that Strictly is facing an identity crisis. ‌ A slew of scandals In more drama for the dance series, Go Compare star, Wynne Evans, was seen with his hand creeping around Katya Jones' waist in an alleged "in joke" between the pair last year. The Welsh warbler was then axed from the show's tour after making an alleged sexual slur about Janette Manrara and has now been let go by the BBC completely. And just when the show had seemed, for a second, scandal-free, Strictly was hit by another bombshell when it was claimed that two of its stars were high on cocaine and boozing during filming. When contacted by the Mirror about the claims its stars were drinking on set and being 'monitored', the BBC said it did "not recognise the claims and any suggestion that anyone has been asked to monitor an individual is completely untrue". However, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are investigating a drug allegation related to the BBC' s hit programme. This investigation after fresh reports that external lawyers Pinsent Masons began an inquiry into the dance competition, just days after its 14th celebrity contestant was confirmed. They previously launched an inquiry into the show after claims that two of its stars had used the Class A drug, cocaine in a long list of controversies the show has faced in the past few years. ‌ 'Z-list' line-up Scandals aside, there's also pressure on the show after it revealed an 'underwhelming' line-up, announcing the class of 2025. Strictly will return to our screens this autumn for the 23rd series, but some fans say they have already been left feeling short-changed. To crank up the excitement, the show's social media team has been dropping an announcement for each contestant. Among the names we can expect to see on the show including Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Love Island's Dani Dyer and Doctor Who star Alex Kingston. While some excitement simmered for the likes of Vicky Pattinson and YouTube star George Clarke, plenty of people were left wanting more. As BBC bosses revealed Lioness and broadcaster Karen Carney and Hollywood correspondent for Lorraine, Ross King, viewers spoke up. ‌ Strictly fans were quick to flood the comments of the post with their opinions – and many of them didn't hold back. One user wrote: "Not really into the lineup this year. It feels a little underwhelming for me." Another person mused: "Is it me, or are they really scraping the barrel for these 'celebrities'? It feels like the Z-list reboot." So can Strictly survive? The short answer is yes. Despite the slew of scandals that have surrounded it in recent years, the show still has a legion of loyal viewers who look forward to tuning in every week to see the celebrities chance their arm in a tough arena as they learn a new skill and usually something cute about themselves. ‌ The programme is still one of the BBCs' biggest exports, with many viewers defending Strictly despite some urging for it to be axed after 21 years in wake of the bad press that has surrounded it. 'You can't blame Strictly for the douchebags' After Channel 5's Jeremy Vine Show debated whether it was time for the show to end, many took to X to advocate for the show. ‌ Ahead of the new series, one declared: "I love Strictly and look forward to it! Only good thing about autumn" as another said: "Don't be ridiculous it's a great show !!" A third wrote: "No. It's one of the best shows on tv and just because something gets mentioned in a paper. Doesn't make it true." Meanwhile, a fourth stated that you can't blame Strictly for "some of the douche bags" caught up in the controversy, posting: "You seriously can't blame the show, which is hugely popular for some of the douchebags that manage to get on it. If you go around every tv show or work place, you're going to find wrong-uns! Ridiculous hysteria." The new series of Strictly starts in September, where it will, hopefully, be heavy on sequins and low on scandals.

The Formula One World Champion, 27, has been spotted sunning himself topless on the vessel just off the coast of Sardinia. The luxurious yacht, named Mangusta 165, is believed to have cost the racing boss £20million and spends most of the time moored in Monaco when not in use. F1 is currently on its summer break, with the next race not until August 31 in Zandvoort. Max's break with the Mercedes boss has refuelled rumours that he might move to the team when his contract with Red Bull is up. The four-time world champion told RacingNews365: "I'm in the middle. Maybe it'll be good, maybe it'll be bad – we'll see. "I'm very open-minded, honestly. I don't even think about it too much – I'm just enjoying the moment. "When I sit in the car next year, we'll figure it out. I'm not making the rules anyway." Toto has owned his yacht, which is 50m in length and has a top speed of 25 knots, since 2023. It boasts five bedrooms and can host 12 guests, who can also enjoy use of the jet skis and a hot tub. The Mercedes boss isn't the only F1 star to own a fancy yacht. He owns 33million yacht Unleash the Lion, which is thought to be worth £11million. It can hold up to 12 guests alongside five crew, meaning Max and partner Kelly Piquet have ample space for entertaining as well as room for their daughter, Lily, born in May. It has an open deck to the rear which is fitted with white couches and is thought to have an area to store a speed boat. He also has a large stateroom inside, but little else is known about the pricey vessel's interior. He splashed out £2.2million on the luxurious vessel following his success on the track. The boat might be smaller than grid rival Max's, but it's not tiny either. It has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a kitchen and a spacious upper deck living area. And he's been showing the yacht off on his social media with girlfriend Carmen Mundt, 26, and a host of friends on board. They also have a stash of pricey water toys and the racer has posted videos of him and others on a hydrofoil skimming across the sea. Each yacht from the brand is a bespoke creation for the buyer. The 18.3m long vessel is solar-powered, giving the boat eco-friendly credentials that most yachts don't have. 'I think [Sunreef] is the only company that takes sustainability to a very serious level,' said Alonso during an interview with BOAT International. 'To have a fully electric catamaran powered by solar panels made perfect sense to me.' The solar panels cover 68.6m squared across the yacht, including the roof and hull sides. It's equipped with two 360kw electric motors and a set of 990kwh batteries which are solar powered - making the yacht essentially silent when moving. One of the smaller yachts owned by an F1 star, it can accommodate up to six guests and four crew. But, for Fernando, size doesn't matter. Alonso said: 'On board, all that matters is peace of mind, fresh air, and good company. Yachting should not be about ego. 'For me, it's about sharing good moments and being respectful towards the environment.' Lawrence Stroll 20 The Aston Martin F1 boss has traded his huge yacht for a slightly smaller one Credit: Getty 20 Faith isn't a small vessel at 262ft long and repotedly has a swimming pool on board Credit: Feadship Billionaire Lawrence, 65, has splashed some of his enormous fortune on a 262-foot long floating mansion for a cool £184.5million. The Aston Martin F1 team owner downsized from his original yacht, Faith, to Project 714 in March - and has now also renamed it Faith. The upper decks, enclosed in glass, contain a swimming pool, a games deck and a helicopter landing pad with a hangar below, according to Luxury Launches. Inside, there are seven guest cabins which can hold up to 14 people as well as space for 20 crew members. It's thought the large vessel, which has a top speed of 17knots, has annual running costs of up to £20million. Lawrence's previous boat could host up to 18 people across nine cabins and had a crew of 34. It also boasted a private cinema, nine-meter swimming pool plus a spa and plunge pool. He sold it to business tycoon Michael Latifi when he decided to downsize to a slightly smaller vessel. And when he's not feeling like being on his own boat, he charters other vessels that boast a bigger range of rooms and activities. Sunseeker 90 is 91.9feet and can sleep up to eight guests. It boasts a top speed of 30 knots meaning it's a speedy boat. The yacht is normally moored in Monaco, where Lewis resides during the off season. It features American walnut carpentry, air-conditioning, a huge kitchen and an entertainment area with a shower where guests can rinse off after a dip in the sea. He was seen entertaining model Bella Hadid, 28, on a yacht back in 2017, but it's not clear if he used his own boat or rented one for entertaining. Lewis has also been spotted entertaining pals over the years, including former teammate Nico Rosberg and his own family. He owns a Riva 66 Ribelle named Sedici, which is Italian for sixteen - his race number - and a Riva Dolceriva open cruiser. Sedici is a 20m sports yacht that can reach speeds of up to 37 knots and has three cabins inside. He brought it to the Monaco Grand Prix this year, like many of his fellow drivers. It seems to be his favourite of the two boats, as he often shares snaps from holidays on it, many with it in the background while he swims. His second vessel is named Monza after the world-famous racing circuit - and is a speedy boat. Charles paid approximately £1.5million for it back in 2020 and reportedly bought it to commemorate winning the Grand Prix at Monza the year before. It's 48ft long and can accommodate up to four guests across two cabins. The lower deck has an L-shaped sofa with a coffee table in the centre. The master cabin has a huge king-sized bed as well as an ensuite.

Sarah Jessica Parker has stark response to people who 'hate watch' And Just Like That amid finale backlash

Sarah Jessica Parker is not holding back in her response to those who 'hate watch' And Just Like That... - even after the season three finale was torched by critics. The Sex and the City spinoff, which stars Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Kristin Davis as Charlotte York, and Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes, follows the beloved characters as they navigate New York City in their 50s. The original Sex and the City ran from June 6, 1998, to February 22, 2004, while the spinoff had a three-season run on HBO Max before coming to an end last week. This season's finale marked the end of the spinoff for good, as it was revealed that it wouldn't be returning to air. However, many fans were not happy with the series ending, especially as the final scene involved a clogged toilet, which fans slammed as 'disgusting' on social media. Bethenny Frankel even tore into the series, boldly calling it ' the worst show ever' in a recent video posted to TikTok. However, it seems like Parker doesn't have the energy for people who loved to hate on AJLT. In response to those who 'hate-watched' the show, which involves tuning into a series you despise for a rather unique pleasure, she told the New York Times in an interview published on Friday, 'I don't think I have the constitution to have spent a lot of time thinking about that.' 'We always worked incredibly hard to tell stories that were interesting or real. I guess I don't really care,' she continued. 'And the reason I don't care is because it has been so enormously successful, and the connections it has made with audiences have been very meaningful.' During the interview, the actress also revealed more about why they decided to wrap up the show this season. When asked what lead to it ending, she simply said, 'Because that's where the story ended.' 'We could have gone on doing coffee shops. There's a million ways to do it that are easy and familiar and fun, but feel exploitative to us,' Parker told the outlet. 'We felt this was the honorable thing to do. It's very easy to stay. It's where we're all happy. 'But you have to be principled when you make these very difficult, agonizing decisions because there's a lot of people who are affected.' Parker's interview comes just days after showrunner Michael Patrick King revealed that the decision to end the show was made amidst filming this year. 'The reality is, the decision was not made at the beginning of the season. The third season was going gangbusters in the writing room,' King told Variety in a recent interview. 'And as the stories go, and the stories go, and the stories go, there's a reason I started saying, "Don't repeat."' 'You start to realize - and it's part muse, part smarts - "This is where it's going,"' he explained. The final episode showed Carrie finally feeling comfortable with being single, as she finished her historical novel that took a few cues from her own story. She realized that the novel's protagonist 'was not alone, she was on her own.' King told Variety that he was so proud of what they had accomplished, especially when it comes to Carrie's character. He explained that he believed the ending felt 'profound,' and after a conversation with Parker, they both agreed that it was where they should stop the series. 'When Susan Fales-Hill and I were writing the last episode, which is in the middle [of the season's production], all of a sudden we came up with that moment for the end of the series and the season. "The woman realized she was not alone - she was on her own,"' King said.
