Big Prediction Just Dropped on Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes
Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content.
The Kansas City Chiefs lost handily to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl, and now there are plenty of stories regarding their ability to return to the big game in 2025. To be fair, the Chiefs may have seen some changes, but they still remain the team to beat in the AFC.

Patrick Mahomes and company might be receiving more criticism considering the Super Bowl loss, the fact that they won 10 games by one score or fewer, and the offensive line taking a big hit by losing Joe Thuney.
Either way, the Chiefs remain a clutch team, and they should remain an upper-echelon Super Bowl favorite. That said, the "First Take" crew decided to predict the Chiefs' win record, which comes with some surprises.
According to the "First Take" team, the Chiefs are set for a 12-5 record. What is interesting about this prediction is that the team will start off slow, going 3-2 in their first five games.
These first two losses include dropping a game to the Eagles again and the Baltimore Ravens. Additional losses to the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills indicate the Chiefs might have trouble with all the perceived playoff contenders in 2025.

The good news for this prediction is that the Chiefs may have a slow start at the beginning of the season, but they are slated to go on a massive run heading into the postseason.
The "First Take" crew believes a seven-game win streak could end the regular season, with the Chiefs defeating the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys (on Thanksgiving), Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, the Denver Broncos, and Las Vegas Raiders.
Currently, the Chiefs' over/under win tally presented by "First Take" is 11.5 wins. The crew explained how that figure is likely to come true.
The confusing aspect of this prediction is that the Chiefs drop down from a 15-win record to a 12-win record.
It will be interesting to see if this is how things shake out for the Chiefs, but betting on their win total now might be a bit premature.

4 Trades Have NFL World Buzzing On Wednesday Night
4 Trades Have NFL World Buzzing On Wednesday Night originally appeared on The Spun. The 2025 NFL regular season is a little more than tow weeks away, as the Philadelphia Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night, Sept. 4. While one week remains in the preseason, teams are finalizing their rosters ahead of Week 1. NFL teams have been quite busy in this department, too. Four trades have taken place on Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening, August 20. It's rare to see this much movement at this stage of the preseason, but we got a lot of action. The Chiefs, Broncos and Browns, among other teams, were all involved in trades on one of the final days of the preseason. The Chiefs, 49ers, Broncos, Saints, Vikings, Jets and Browns all made trades on Wednesday. In total, four trades were made. Here's the full breakdown: Chiefs traded WR Skyy Moore and a 7th round draft pick to the 49ers for a 6th round pick. Broncos traded WR Devaughn Vele and a 7th round draft pick to the Saints for a 4th round draft pick. Vikings traded DT Harrison Phillips and a 7th round draft pick to the Jets for two 6th round draft picks. The Browns traded DT Jowon Briggs and a 7th round draft pick to the Jets for a 6th round draft pick. More NFL trades could be coming NFL teams have to cut down their rosters on Tuesday, August 26. The 32 teams across the league have to get down to 53 players by that Tuesday. Instead of cutting a player, teams will look to trade them, perhaps for NFL Draft pick compensation - as we saw in all four trades on Wednesday. New York Jets beat writer Antwan Staley noted this possibility on Wednesday night. "BTW, NFL cut down day in August 26, so expect more trades to come in the next few days," he wrote. He added: "It is a good time of the year because the season is close but it sucks for some players who will be looking for work after Tuesday." The possibility of a blockbuster trade or two remains, too None of the four trades made on Wednesday would qualify as blockbusters, but there's a growing possibility that we could get one before Week 1. Both Cowboys star Micah Parsons and Bengals star Trey Hendrickson have asked out, as they're seeking new contract extensions that their respective teams have yet to give them. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that the Bengals have been talking to other teams for a while now about a possible Hendrickson trade. "Teams that have recently inquired about Bengals star Trey Hendrickson were told Cincinnati's asking price included a young defensive player and a 2026 first-round pick, according to league sources. The player heading back does not have to be a pass rusher," she reported. Meanwhile, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Monday that the Cowboys and Parsons seem headed for a divorce, which could spark a trade possibility. "It feels more likely that these sides are heading for a divorce today," Schefter told the Pat McAfee Show. More movement could be coming ahead of the first week of the 2025 NFL regular season in September. 4 Trades Have NFL World Buzzing On Wednesday Night first appeared on The Spun on Aug 21, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 21, 2025, where it first appeared.

Report says bullet was fired into Chiefs coach Andy Reid's office last spring while he was there
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A bullet was fired into Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid's office at the team's practice facility last spring while he was inside, the Kansas City Star reported Wednesday. The Star, citing multiple sources, reported Reid was working alone in his office in early May 2024 when a bullet fired from outside the building broke through glass and left a hole through the window and blinds. It got lodged in a wall between his bathroom and the entry door to his office. The team installed bulletproof glass soon afterward. The Star reported two more bullets hit the facility, with one striking the third floor and another an outdoor air-conditioning unit. Few people people in the organization knew about the incident. A Chiefs spokesman declined comment to the AP on Wednesday night. The incident occurred just months after Reid led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl championship repeat and their third title in a five-year span. They won the AFC again last season, only to lose to Philadelphia. Reid has a 273-146-1 record in 12 seasons with the Chiefs and 14 with the Eagles. He ranks fourth on the NFL's all-time wins list behind Don Shula, George Halas and Bill Belichick. ___ AP NFL: The Associated Press
