Auburn tops Jax State behind late Lucas Steele home run
The Auburn Tigers extended their winning streak to five games on Tuesday night, but it wasn't easy. Auburn defeated Jax State, 4-3, on the road in a game that came down to the final inning. With the game tied 3-3, and two outs, Auburn's Lucas Steele hit a solo home run to give the Tigers the victory. Pitcher Ben Schorr sealed the win when Grayson Ashe was caught looking and struck out for the final out of the game. The win gives the Tigers a 27-10 overall record as they prepare for a big weekend series at Texas.
Christian Chatterton got the start for Auburn on the mound and played well. He pitched six innings giving up two runs off one hit. He also struck out eight of the 20 batters he faced. The Tigers had 14 strikeouts as a team. Schorr stuck out four batters in just a little over one inning of playing time.
Auburn jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. Ike Irish scored the first run when Bub Terrell hit a single to center field to go up 1-0. Eric Guevara hit a single in the next at-bat to score Cooper McMurray for a 2-0 advantage. Finally, a single to center field by Chase Fralick got Terrell to home plate to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. They would not score until the game-winning home run by Steele.
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks only had two hits in the game but made a comeback late. The Gamecocks scored two runs in the seventh to make the score 3-2. Sam Silas got on base due to a fielder's choice, and Drew Collings scored on an unearned run to make it 3-1. Then, Grayson Ashe scored on a wild pitch by Jett Johnston with two outs to cut the lead down to 3-2. Senior Drew Collings hit a solo home run for Jacksonville State in the eighth inning to tie the game at 3. Schoor entered the game in relief for Abe Chancellor.
In the ninth inning, Cade Belyeu struck out swinging and Fralick walked. However, Fralick was called out at second base trying to steal. Next up was Steele, who hit the home run that gave back the lead to the Tigers 4-3.
Auburn will again be on the road this weekend as they begin a series with the No. 1 ranked Texas Longhorns. The series will begin on Thursday and finish on Saturday. Both Thursday and Friday games will start at 7 p.m. Central and will be broadcast on SEC Network+. Game three on Saturday will begin at 2 p.m. and will also be broadcast by SEC Network+. The Tigers will look to continue the momentum they started with the weekend sweep of LSU.

'You wish you were Georgia Tech.' Atlanta radio host roasts Auburn, Eric Singleton
Losing your team's leading receiver from the last two seasons to the transfer portal will make any fan base salty. So it is easy to see why Georgia Tech fans, or media members covering the program, would question Auburn wide receiver Eric Singleton's decision to transfer away from Georgia Tech after recording 1,468 receiving yards and nine touchdowns over the last two seasons on the Flats. One Atlanta radio show host expressed his confusion about the move on Friday morning, and even took the opportunity to blast Auburn's program. John Michaels, co-host of The Locker Room on 680 the Fan in Atlanta, believes that Auburn's football program is inferior to Georgia Tech's at the moment, and does not understand why Singleton would bolt to the Plains. "Georgia Tech is better than Auburn right now. Auburn fans, you can yell at me all you want; you wish you were Georgia Tech right now. You wish you had Haynes King and Jamal Haynes and some of the other guys," Michaels said Friday. "Auburn could potentially be good, but they are banking on a quarterback in Jackson Arnold, who wasn't very good at Oklahoma, transferring there, and Eric Singleton. I don't get that transfer. I never got that transfer." Singleton was a multi-level threat at Georgia Tech. Outside of hauling in over 1,450 receiving yards, he also logged 241 return yards as a sophomore. His speed and athleticism will be hard to replace at Georgia Tech, but he will be welcomed at Auburn as the Tigers look to take a step forward under year three of the Hugh Freeze era. Singleton will not only mesh with Cam Coleman, Malcolm Simmons, Horatio Fields, and Malcolm Simmons in the wide receiver room, but he will stand alongside Tulane transfer Rayshawn Pleasant in the return game to give Auburn a speed advantage. The season has yet to begin, but expect the concept of "Georgia Tech is better than Auburn" to be examined as the season plays out. Pick of the stats: Hull City v Oxford United
Two sides seeking their first win go head-to-head at the MKM Stadium on Sunday (15:00 BST) as Oxford United head to Hull City. Sergej Jakirovic's Tigers picked up a battling point from a stalemate at Coventry on the opening day, but the U's went down 1-0 at home to Portsmouth in their first game. Hull City are unbeaten across their past nine home league games against Oxford United (W6 D3), winning each of their last three in succession whilst netting 2+ goals in each. Oxford United have only won one of their past five Football League games against Hull City (D1 L3); a 1-0 victory at home in November last season. Hull have lost their opening home game of a league season in just two of the prior 13 seasons (W9 D2), a run which has seen them concede just 14 goals in total. Oxford last lost each of their opening two league games of a season back in 2020-21, though have avoided that fate in each of their last six campaigns in the second tier. Last season in the Championship, only relegated Plymouth (48) attempted fewer shots on target on the road than Oxford (61), with the U's also recording the second-fewest touches in the opposition's penalty area (306).

Auburn football RB Durell Robinson would 'die on that field' to help Tigers win
Asked Auburn RB Durell Robinson what he wants people to know about him..@wsfa12news'I would like them to know I'm very passionate about this sport. I would really die on that field if it came to I have to die on that field to get us a win, I would do that!'okay! Auburn football not only possesses the talent to produce a winning season, but it also has players who share a desire to win. Auburn running back Durell Robinson is in his first season with the program after transferring from UConn during the offseason, and has quickly established himself as one of the more driven players on the roster. Following Thursday's practice at the Woltosz Football Performance Center, Robinson spent time with the media discussing his expectations for the upcoming season. Being a transfer, Robinson is relatively unknown to the Auburn fan base, but he may have become a fan favorite with an amazing quote in response to a question by WSFA's Rosie Langello. Langello asked Robinson what he would like the Auburn fan base to know about him, and he responded by sharing his passion for football and his desire to help his team win. "I would really die on that field if it came to that," Robinson said Thursday. "If I have to die on that field to get us a win, I would do that.' In his lone season at UConn, Robinson rushed for 731 yards and eight scores while being a part of a three-running back system with Camryn Edwards and Jayden Brown. He reached the 100-yard mark twice last season, with his best game coming against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 21, when he rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns. According to Pro Football Focus data, 22 of Robinson's runs resulted in gains of 10 or more yards, and 39 of his carries resulted in first downs. Robinson is among four backs that will make up the Tigers' running back room this season. He, along with veterans Damari Alston, Jeremiah Cobb, and freshman Alvin Henderson, will aim to replicate the success left behind by outgoing premier back Jarquez Hunter, who rushed for 3,371 yards and 25 touchdowns from 2021-24.
