On Sunday, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said that the INDIA bloc MPs had marched from the Parliament to the Election Commission's office on Monday to protest the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar and allegations of "voter fraud" during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
At a press conference, Digvijaya Singh alleged that all the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were filling out "fake forms" in one room.
Live Events
He stated, "Rahul Gandhi put forward such facts that no one could deny... The name of one person appeared at multiple locations, including polling booths... Rahul Gandhi's demand was for electronic data of the voter list, which could be scanned using software to determine how many votes were cast on a single EPIC number... The reason for the SIR happening in Bihar was questioned. It had been thoroughly tested in 2003, which took 2 years in Bihar, but this time they wanted to do it in 1 month..."
Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha is set for a packed agenda on Monday, with multiple committee reports, ministerial statements, and significant legislative business scheduled for discussion.
The day's proceedings will begin at 11 am with questions entered in a separate list to be asked and answers given. This will be followed by the laying of papers on the table by ministers from various departments, including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for the Ministry of Culture; Jayant Chaudhary for the Ministry of Education; Pankaj Chaudhary for the Ministry of Finance; Kirtivardhan Singh for the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; and Sukanta Majumdar for Ministry of Education.

Rajya Sabha uproar: Mallikarjun Kharge raises Bihar voter rolls, JP Nadda counters

The Rajya Sabha continued to witness disruptions on Tuesday, with Opposition members demanding a discussion on the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, prompting deputy chairman Harivansh to adjourn the House till 2 pm soon after the papers were laid on the table. The House was adjourned again to meet at 3 pm. Once the proceedings resumed, leader of the House JP Nadda countered leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge after the Congress leader sought to raise the issue of SIR. BJD's Sasmit Patra, who was in the Chair, allowed sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya to move the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025, for passing. The Opposition MPs urged the chair to allow Kharge to speak. On the Chair's instruction, Kharge rose and sought to speak on SIR. After Patra's objection, the Opposition walked out. Nadda countered Kharge and said the Opposition did not believe in healthy democracy. After the Opposition walked out, the government discussed and passed the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Income Tax Bill, 2025, and the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

High levels of Russian crude imports may not last forever, says govt

The increased levels of Russian crude imports into India may not last forever, and public-sector oil refineries are, therefore, continuing with term contracts with other suppliers and regions for firm and optional volumes to secure the country's refinery requirement in case of any volatile market situation, the government has said. 'Prior to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Russian crude oil was largely exported to Europe and China. The conflict and the resulting sanctions on Russian crude oil have resulted in increased flows of Russian crude into India due to attractive discounts,' the oil ministry told the parliamentary standing committee on petroleum and natural gas. The ministry was commenting on a recommendation by the panel on imports of crude oil from Russia according to the report of the panel tabled in Parliament today. The committee appreciated the government's decision to purchase crude oil from Russia and recommended that it should keep the energy security of the country in mind while taking decisions on the import of crude oil. India imports crude oil from various locations, including West Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. In 2021-22, the top six countries accounted for 80 per cent of the total crude imports, and the shipments from Russia were low. After the Ukraine-Russia conflict began, and economic sanctions were announced by the United Nations, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the US, with the price cap imposed on Russia, India increased its Russian crude imports. The committee had earlier recommended an overall review of the policy on crude oil imports, including enlarging the Indian crude basket, diversifying the sources and types of crude oil, and implementing reforms in the pricing of crude oil to ensure energy availability at a reasonable price.
