Specsavers 'reignites Oasis feud' leaving Britpop fans in stitches

Oasis are in the middle of their Live '25 tour, but the Britpop band's feud with Blur has been reignited thanks to a cheeky Specsavers advert outside Wembley Stadium A cheeky billboard advert near Wembley Stadium has thrilled Oasis fans as the band continues their Live '25 tour. The ad, a stone's throw from where Liam and Noel Gallagher are performing in London, has appears to have reignited a nostalgic Britpop rivalry. ‌ Britpop, which encapsulates various British bands from the 90s, reached its peak Oasis ' infamous chart battle with another iconic band. Despite that band initially coming out on top, Oasis seems to have had the last laugh with their current sold-out concerts causing quite the sensation. The playful advert poking fun at the feud between the two groups has been shared on TikTok. ‌ ‌ The video's caption reads: "Not Specsavers putting up 'the OG Blur rivals' ad across from the Oasis gig tonight." The Specsavers advertisement is displayed on a screen directly opposite the venue for Oasis' London performances. Specsavers themselves have cheekily acknowledged their "the original Blur rivals" sign, with a comment on TikTok stating: "We saw an opportunity and we took it." The strategic placement has won over fans, who've been chuckling about it while heading home from the concert. ‌ One fan shared: "We were giggling about this on the way to the train." Another praised: "A+ marketing." A third added: "That's genius." However, the person who posted the original TikTok seemed less impressed, writing: "UK people are so weird." The infamous chart battle between Blur and Oasis remains a legendary tale, with the Damon Albarn-led Blur snatching the top spot in 1995 with their hit 'Country House', leaving the Gallagher brothers trailing. ‌ Blur's bassist Alex James later reflected on the rivalry, stating: "Blur won the battle, Oasis won the war, then Blur went on to win the whole campaign." In 2023, Blur returned to Wembley for two electrifying shows to celebrate their new album, 'The Ballad of Darren', not to be outdone by fellow Britpop giants Oasis who have also graced the iconic venue. Fellow icon of the era Jarvis Cocker of Pulp was seen at an Oasis gig at Wembley Stadium, while Blur's own Damon Albarn graciously acknowledged Oasis' supremacy in the bands' historic face-off. ‌ Albarn conceded: "I think we can officially say that Oasis won the battle, the war, the campaign, everything. They are the winners. They take first place. In the face of such overwhelming evidence, I am happy to accept and concede defeat." Cocker, who had previously joked about scoring a spot on the guestlist for Oasis concerts, has openly criticised the term "Britpop" during an NME interview. He shared: "It felt like a revolution could happen. If people are feeling like that again – that they can make their own thing and it can be taken notice of – then that would be great." He added: "If that kind of attitude is coming back, then I would be very excited about it, just not the 'BP' word – it's a terrible word."

Rochelle Humes rushes to comfort This Morning guest as he sobs over family death

Rochelle Humes was presenting the ITV morning show alongside Dermot O'Leary when she rushed to comfort one of the guests as he became overwhelmed with emotion This Morning presenter Rochelle Humes couldn't bear to watch one of her guests breaking down in tears live on air without stepping in to offer comfort. ‌ The ITV personality, 36, is currently appearing alongside Dermot O'Leary this week, filling in for regular hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley whilst they take their summer break. ‌ During Monday's programme (July 28), they welcomed the relatives of Yvonne Ford, the British holidaymaker from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, who was scratched by a puppy whilst on holiday in Morocco and tragically died months later from rabies. ‌ Initially showing no signs of illness, she was taken to Barnsley Hospital after experiencing a "horrendous" headache, and within days her health deteriorated rapidly. She started hallucinating, lost the ability to walk, speak or swallow, and developed hydrophobia. Once alarm bells sounded, doctors moved the grandmother-of-four to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, where relatives were informed she had contracted the deadly disease, reports Wales Online. ‌ Her family are now determined to ensure Yvonne's death wasn't meaningless, hoping to spread awareness as widely as possible, beginning with a This Morning appearance despite being overwhelmed by grief after losing their mother and wife just last month on June 11. Still coming to terms with their loss, husband Ron alongside daughter and neonatal nurse Robyn Thompson and her son Adam, appeared on the ITV show to highlight the risks of rabies. Ron and Robyn remembered Yvonne as a "huge animal lover" with the "biggest heart", noting that she hadn't been bothered or sought medical attention after a puppy scratched her during a holiday in Morocco. ‌ Yvonne's husband recounted how her cut hadn't even bled, telling the hosts she'd seemed fine and had even danced the night away just weeks before her death. As he spoke about his fun-loving wife who showed no symptoms, Ron was overcome with emotion and broke down in tears. Rochelle, visibly moved herself, reached out to comfort him, placing a hand on his shoulder as he covered his face with his hands. ‌ Giving Ron a moment, Rochelle's co-host Dermot turned the conversation to Robyn, discussing their reasons for appearing on the show. The nurse explained they simply wanted to raise as much awareness as possible to prevent other families from experiencing the same pain they had endured watching their mum tragically deteriorate. Dermot thanked them for coming in, acknowledging their grief and their efforts to channel it through their appearance. He sensitively asked: "What's the one message you'd like to get across today?" Adam added: "Check the rabies recommendations. I mean Morocco was only recommended. We don't want anyone to go through what we've been through seeing our mum go through the seven days of deterioration that we had. Get those injections." Ron went on to caution: "The World Cup is in Morocco in 2030, so anybody going just be aware." This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1, from 10am.

Bob Dylan fans spot 'rare' moment during live show and ask 'is this normal'

Bob Dylan gave fans a 'rare' moment during an otherwise ordinary show from the veteran performer, who seemed to be offering a lot more than some attendees expected Veteran performer Bob Dylan had fans asking if a gesture the musician made is "normal" during a recent gig. Fans who attended the show - and those who had seen the Mr. Tambourine Man hitmaker before - said those who attended the show witnessed a "rare" moment from the songwriter. Those who were there have since shared a clip of the experience on social media, sparking conversation among fans. ‌ In a post to the r/BobDylan subreddit, fans wondered whether it was normal for Dylan to be so responsive with the crowd. Those in attendance were told it was a very unique and rare sighting to see the performer interacting with the audience as much as he did at a show in Charlotte, North Carolina. ‌ ‌ Dylan's show, part of the Outlaw Music Festival tour with Willie Nelson, had fans scratching their heads for all the right reasons. One user wrote: "Is this normal? He just got up and sang Under the Red Sky and he actually said thank you in the mic and then laughed and said 'it's hot as summer out here." Fans have since confirmed this is far from the norm as far as Dylan's live shows of late go. One user wrote: "Fairly uncommon for Bob to perform standing these days, and always rare for him to speak off the cuff. I'm going to say this was special." ‌ Another shared a similar experience from a show in April. They wrote: "We were there with you last night. It was my kiddo's 1st Dylan show and their birthday! Even kiddo noticed the 'thank you' because he knew it was rare for him to speak. It felt special. "I saw him in Pittsburg in April and he said, 'This sure is a lovely place to play, it really is. I don't know how old it is but it's older than me,' and I thought I'd faint. "He really seemed to be having a great time that night, and we also got a thank you." ‌ It provides a stark contrast to Dylan's tour in the UK. With the 84-year-old set to return to British shores in November, it will likely be a continuation of his quiet demeanour on stage. The Rough and Rowdy Ways tour will take Dylan to Swansea, Glasgow, and Leeds, and will likely mean a change in the setlist from his Outlaw Music Festival shows. Those shows rarely featured Dylan speaking to the audience, though he has been making more surprise commentaries, as he did at a gig in Liverpool when mentioning Ernest Hemingway. A post to the r/BobDylan subreddit from around the time of the M&S Bank Arena show had fans thrilled that the off the cuff remark had been picked up. One user asked: "When did Bob start talking to his audiences again?" Another replied: "When I saw him in Dublin 2022, he was shouting out to the crowd and spoke at length about Shane McGowan - I felt like I had hit the jackpot to hear him speak so much. He must just be feeling personable these days!"
