Kelly Clarkson gets emotional 12 days before ex-husband's death

Daily Mail4 hours ago
A fan's recording of Kelly Clarkson tearing up on stage less than two weeks before her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's August 8 death has gone viral on TikTok . The 43-year-old singer — whose future talk show plans have been revealed — was performing at her Studio Sessions residency in Las Vegas on July 26 when her eyes swelled with emotion. The moment came as she prepared to sing the latest iteration of her 2015 song Piece by Piece.
She attempted to pull herself together as she declared, 'Compartmentalization!' And the mother-of-two — who shared daughter River, 11, and son Remy, nine with her ex — tearfully told fans that after changing the lyrics in the wake of her divorce in 2023, she has since reworked the song again. 'I've never rewritten a song more and I probably never will,' she told fans, adding, 'I wrote this song with a lot of hope and projection for happiness and better than what was happening.
'And then, well, life set in and I had to change the lyrics. Everybody was like, "Wait, why aren't you singing this song?" And I was like, "Have you heard the lyrics?" That's fun. Embarrassing.' The song was initially penned with Kelly's estranged father in mind as she sang about how Blackstock was a better father and partner. She continued her explanation, 'I ended up changing the lyrics. We did it one time, I did a residency here, and then I was like, "You know what, that sounded a little angry," so I just wanted to explain how it feels now. I'm 43. I've done some therapy, and I changed the lyrics now and I think it's perfect. I promise. I'm not gonna change it again.'
In 2023, as she and Brandon were in the throes of their divorce, Clarkson restructured the lyrics, singing, 'I just walk away when they ask for money. I take care of me 'cause I love me. Piece by piece I restored my faith that a heart can still beat even when it breaks.' And this year she sang, 'I'm learning everyday how to love me. I let go of the shame that you taught me. Piece by piece I restored the faith that a heart can still beat even if it breaks.' The American Idol winner told her audience, 'It just represents, kind of, I don't know... I feel like we grow up, right? And this is the more grown up version of it.'
But she got choked up, stating, 'I'm really trying to pull it together,' before she eventually said, 'Screw it, let's just sing it. This is Piece by Piece.' The fate of Kelly 's eponymous talk show was revealed following her ex-husband's tragic death at age 48 from the skin cancer melanoma. Despite the family tragedy, the Emmy-winning talk show will return for season seven in September, TMZ reported on Friday.
In addition to Kelly and their kids, the talent manager is also survived by his pregnant daughter Savannah , 23, and son Seth with ex-wife Melissa Ashworth. A representative for the family confirmed Blackstock's death in a statement on Thursday which read: 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.
'We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.' In a statement shared online on Wednesday, Clarkson revealed a health-related issue with Blackstock forced her to postpone her Las Vegas residency. 'Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,' she wrote.
'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. 'I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding,' she concluded.

Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow still gossip about their mutual ex Brad Pitt

Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow still gossip about their mutual ex-lover Brad Pitt. The Friends actress divulged the tidbit in her new Vanity Fair profile, telling the publication, 'Ironically, I went to her and Brad's engagement party.' Jennifer, 56, was married to Brad, 61, from 2000-2005, and Gwyneth, 52, got engaged to the actor in 1996 but called off the wedding in 1997. When asked by VF's Julie Miller if they 'ever talk about Pitt', she replied: 'Oh, of course. How can we not? We're girls.' The women met in 1996 when Jennifer's Friends co-star David Schwimmer was working with Gwyneth on the rom-com The Pallbearer. Despite having Brad in common, the LolaVie founder said she and the Goop creator mostly discuss wellness, sharing, 'We're always swapping advice — "What are you doing for this? What are you doing for that? Do you have a new doctor for that?"' When asked by Vanity Fair's Julie Miller if they 'ever talk about Pitt', she replied: 'Oh, of course. How can we not? We're girls'; Brad pictured in June Gwyneth's unauthorized biographer Amy Odell claims in her book, titled Gwyneth: A Biography, that Paltrow was 'sad' when Jennifer wed Brad. She writes that the Academy Award winner got snappy with a reporter at the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival when asked about her love life. An excerpt shared with People reads: 'The reporter then asked how she felt about Brad Pitt marrying Jennifer Aniston [in July of that year]. '"Are you really asking me this question?" Gwyneth replied, her eyes now "daggers." '"I can't comment on this kind of thing." 'In reality, Gwyneth confided to friends that she'd felt sad when she learned they were getting married. (She was also fond of telling them that Brad "has terrible taste in women").' After dating Brad for three years, the blonde beauty called off the engagement in 1997 because at age 24, she felt she was too young for marriage. She went on to have a three-year relationship with Ben Affleck. Asked who was better in bed by Call Her Daddy's Alexandra Cooper in 2023, she answered: 'That's really hard. Because Brad was like the major chemistry love of [my] life at the time. And then Ben was like, technically excellent.' Asked who she regarded as the better actor of the two, she said: 'They're both so talented. And Ben is a great writer and director. 'But I guess I would probably have to say acting alone, Brad. Because if you think of all the different roles that he's done.' Years after her marriage to Brad ended, Jennifer went on to marry actor Justin Theroux. It lasted from 2015 until 2018. In August 2023 she opened up about the long-term effect her parents Nancy Dow and John Aniston's bitter 1980 divorce had on her love life. Speaking with WSJ. Magazine two years ago, she admitted that her 'difficult' childhood experiences didn't leave her desperate to say 'I do.' 'It was always a little bit difficult for me in relationships, I think, because I really was kind of alone,' she explained at the time. She admitted it felt 'easier' to just be alone. 'I didn't like the idea of sacrificing who you were or what you needed, so I didn't really know how to do that,' she said, before adding, 'So it was almost easier to just be kind of solo. So I didn't have any real training in that give-and-take.' The Murder Mystery star recently found love again with hypnotist and wellness entrepreneur Jim Curtis.

Jeremy Allen White displays his chiseled physique as he cools off on the beach

Jeremy Allen White recently beat the summer heat in New York with a trip to the beach. The 34-year-old A-lister bared his impressively chiseled torso as he stripped down to white swim trunks to cool off in the ocean. The former Shameless actor — who stars in the forthcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic — wore a gold nameplate chain, ring, and bracelet during the day at the shore. He added a light-colored, faded baseball cap and was spotted drying off with a striped red, blue, and white towel. The Bear star seemed to be in great spirits as he reemerged from the water with a smile on his face. The beach outing comes weeks after the fourth season of his Emmy-winning hit series premiered on Hulu. Netflix fans recently broke down in tears at Jeremy's 'heartbreaking and messy' film The Iron Claw, which is based on a true story. Directed and written by Sean Durkin, it was initially released in 2023, but has had a resurgence in popularity after finding a new audience on the streamer this month. The hit film is based on the lives of the Von Erich brothers and their careers as wrestlers, under the training of their dad. 'The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s,' IMDb's synopsis reads. In addition to Jeremy as Kerry Von Eric, it features Zac Efron as Kevin Von Erich, Harrison Dickinson as David Von Erich, and Maura Tierney as Doris Von Erich. Stanley Simons plays Mike Von Erich, Michael J Harney is Bill Merce, Holt McCallany plays Jack Von Erich and Lily James portrays Pam Adkisson. In December 2023, Rolling Stone's David Fear said: 'It's a messy movie about messy lives, occasionally in ways you wish it wasn't. But The Iron Claw is also a story of redemption… That's partially why Efron's performance is the one that sticks with you.' And that month Screen Rant's Mae Abdulbaki wrote: 'Zac Efron really gives it his all in this heartbreaking wrestling film about the Von Erich family. The biopic details the complexity of the family.' The acclaimed performer showed off his modest set of tattoos. The beach outing comes weeks after the fourth season of his Emmy-winning hit series The Bear premiered on Hulu Muscles bulged from every angle of the star's gym-honed physique The New York native was spotted drying off with a striped red, blue, and white towel as his wispy, wet hair fell over his face He seemed to be in great spirits as he reemerged from the water with a smile on his face. The father-of-two looked relaxed and happy on his day off Fans are a little over two months away from catching Jeremy in the highly-anticipated biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere. The movie is slated for an October 24 release, after future moviegoers went wild in June following the release of the latest movie trailer. A first-look at Jeremy's portrayal of the music giant Bruce was released in October 2024. It came shortly after the Dancing in the Dark singer shared his thoughts on the project, telling Rolling Stone in a joint interview with Zach Bryan: 'I've seen the scripts and I've talked to the director. 'They're just putting it all together, so I don't have an awful lot to say about it, but I'm excited about it happening.' The feature is a film adaptation of Warren Zanes' 2023 book of the same name, which chronicles the making of Springsteen's classic 1982 album Nebraska. Bruce added: 'It'll be an interesting story... and the script is really good. I feel good about the whole project.' Succession star Jeremy Strong will appear in the film as the singer's manager, Jon Landau.

Emma Stone reveals heart-wrenching reason she cried before shaving her head for new role

Emma Stone followed in the footsteps of Sigourney Weaver, Demi Moore, and Natalie Portman by having her head shaved on camera with a 1.5-millimeter blade for her new movie, Bugonia. Moments before, the 36-year-old movie star burst into tears in her trailer while remembering how her mother Krista Stone lost all of her hair during her triple-negative breast cancer battle. 'She actually did something brave. I'm just shaving my head,' Emma recalled thinking in her Vogue cover story Monday. 'My mom was like, "I'm so jealous. I want to shave my head again!"' Stone and her mother celebrated her cancer-free status in 2008 by enlisting Paul McCartney to design a tattoo of birds feet for them because of their shared love for the Beatles ' 1968 song Blackbird. In the sci-fi black comedy, two conspiracy theorists (Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis) remove the long locks off the two-time Oscar winner's character Michelle, the CEO of a major pharmaceutical company, to prove she's an alien. Emma (born Emily) recalled the first shower she took after her dramatic makeover was 'amazing,' but she concealed her bald head beneath a wig while attending the New York Film Festival on October 5. 'I was bummed I wasn't going out with it,' Stone lamented. 'Just straight-up bald. I think that would have been fun.' The Arizona-born beauty scoffed that her hair has been growing back 'pretty slowly for how long it's been' but her best friend Jennifer Lawrence loved the shaved look. 'I really didn't want her to shave her head. I had already lived through the Billie Jean King haircut,' the Oscar winner wisecracked via e-mail. 'Honestly, she looked beautiful. She pulled it off.' Bugonia marked Emma's sixth collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos after The Favourite (2018), Bleat (2022), Poor Things (2023), Kinds of Kindness (2024), and the music video for Jerskin Fendrix's song Beth's Farm (2025). Emma will likely glam up to attend the world premiere of the Focus Features flick on August 28 held at Italy's Sala Grande during the 82nd Venice Film Festival. The 51-year-old Greek filmmaker's remake of the 2003 South Korean film Save the Green Planet! will eventually hit US theaters October 31 and UK theaters November 7. Becoming mother to four-year-old daughter Louise Jean 'streamlined everything' for Stone, who's been married to Saturday Night Live writer Dave McCary since 2020. 'It's a clichéd thing to say, but it changes everything. And simplifies everything,' the Eddington actress gushed. 'There's nothing I feel luckier about. She's the greatest gift of my life, for sure.' Emma and Dave - who co-founded their production company Fruit Tree in 2020 - just sold their newly renovated Austin, TX mansion which was on the market for $23.5M, according to
