Spanning more than 106,000 sq ft, the facility will feature advanced processing and storage capabilities, including consumer packaging, roasting and grinding operations.
The first phase will be completed within two years, with the hub expected to process more than 65,000 metric tonnes of staple food ingredients -- such as pulses, spices and nuts – generating over AED440 million in annual turnover once fully operational, said a statement.
Abdulla Al Hashmi, COO, Parks & Zones, DP World GCC, said: 'We are pleased to welcome Spring Valley to Jafza. With 80% of the region's food supply being imported and global demand set to soar for two billion more people by 2050, ensuring food security is more critical than ever. Dubai plays a vital role as a hub for the UAE's food trade, handling 75% of the nation's food and beverage imports. Jafza's dedicated F&B terminal, advanced logistics network, and vibrant business community continue to drive innovation, and we're committed to investing in solutions to secure the future of the global food supply.'
The global agricultural commodity market is projected to grow from $220 billion in 2024 to $277 billion in 2028, driven by rising demand for healthier diets and a growing global population.
Toms Mathew, Executive Director, Spring Valley Food Industries, said: 'As a home-grown brand, this new hub in Jafza strengthens our role in regional food security. Our strategic location next to a world-class port ensures efficient logistics, enhancing the UAE's position as a leading hub for essential food.'
The facility will operate with 100% sustainable and carbon-neutral processing, featuring a solar power plant in line with Dubai's renewable energy goals. It will also adhere to the highest international food safety standards, with HACCP and BRCGS certifications, it said.

Ayu Life Sciences to set up $9m facility in Jafza

Ayu Life Sciences, a medical devices and cell therapy company, has announced plans to establish a new AED33 million ($9 million) advanced manufacturing facility at Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), the first of its kind in the region. The 13,500-sq-m facility will focus on the production of next-generation wound care solutions and surgical treatments, designed to meet the growing global demand for high-quality, sustainable healthcare products. The launch comes amid a surge in demand for artificial skin, with the market projected to grow from $3.1 billion in 2024 to $5.3 billion by 2032. The facility will be developed in two phases, with Phase 1 set to go live by late-2025, and full completion by 2027. It will produce Ayu Life Sciences' flagship products, including Velgraft, an artificial skin substitute designed for scar-free healing and tissue regeneration; Velvert, a natural antimicrobial wound care dressing formulated to accelerate healing and prevent infections; and VelNez, a nasal and ear dressing that enhances patient comfort and post-surgical recovery. These solutions are backed by a portfolio of 22 global patents and developed using eco-friendly materials and natural components to minimise environmental impact. The company currently exports from its Delhi facility to over 20 markets across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East, many with highly regulated healthcare markets. In addition to advanced wound care, Ayu Life Sciences is progressing in the field of regenerative medicine. Clinical trials are underway for a novel therapy using cells similar to those in the pancreas to regulate blood sugar for patients with Type 1 diabetes. Another trial is for Velnerve, a solution for peripheral nerve injuries. Dr Rajan Datt, Managing Director of Ayu Life Sciences, said: 'We're excited to announce our new facility in Jafza, marking a major milestone for Ayu Life Sciences. Our commitment to proprietary research and development enables us to consistently deliver excellent wound care products so we can continually push the boundaries of patient care. We look forward to breaking ground on this new facility and extending the reach of our flagship products like Velgraft, Velvert, and VelNez to more patients in the Middle East and around the globe.' Abdulla Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer Parks & Zones, DP World GCC, added: 'Jafza's manufacturing infrastructure and strategic connectivity make it the ideal launchpad for innovators like Ayu Life Sciences. This facility reinforces Dubai's growing role as a global hub for the healthcare and advanced medical manufacturing sectors. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to supporting cutting-edge industries that drive economic growth and improve lives.' -

Jafza expands logistics park with strategic investment

Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) is strengthening its position with a strategic investment of AED90 million ($25 million) in Phase Two of its cutting-edge Logistics Park. Adding 360,000 square feet of Grade-A facilities, the expansion aligns with the UAE's push to grow its logistics sector to AED200 billion annually in the next seven years and cements Dubai's role in international trade. The second phase delivers world-class infrastructure, including modern offices, customisable units, temperature-controlled warehouses, loading docks, and enhanced power capacity to support diverse industries. Abdulla Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer of Parks & Zones at DP World GCC, said: "The expansion of Jafza Logistics Park reflects our commitment to helping businesses compete globally and simultaneously drive foreign investment into Dubai." The Phase One was fully leased before completion, highlighting strong demand for quality logistics and warehousing, and Phase 2 takes this a step further - offering flexible, high-quality solutions to support growth in multiple sectors, said Jafza in a statement. This brings the total area of Jafza Logistics Park to over 922,000 sq ft, it added. With the Middle East and Africa's freight and logistics market set to hit $235.8 billion by 2031, demand for advanced warehousing is accelerating, including in Dubai, where sectors like manufacturing, logistics, construction, and e-commerce are driving unprecedented growth. The newly expanded park helps close this gap. Jafza currently hosts 10,890 companies from 150 countries, supporting over 160,000 jobs and contributing AED620 billion in trade annually.

DP World expands electric freight ops at Jebel Ali Port

DP World has launched a cutting-edge electric freight solution at Jebel Ali Port in partnership with Einride, marking a major step towards decarbonising terminal operations. Now running around-the-clock, the first wave of the electric fleet is set to move over 204,000 twenty-foot containers annually, supporting DP World's efforts to accelerate the transition to greener logistics. The project is part of a groundbreaking partnership between DP World and Einride signed in May 2024 to electrify inter-terminal container flows at Jebel Ali Port, the largest seaport in the Middle East. It aligns with DP World's broader sustainability agenda which includes electrifying its fleet of internal terminal vehicles (ITVs) and implementing innovative partnerships to reduce emissions. The initiative will reduce 14,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) annually, compared to diesel operations, supporting DP World's science-based targets (SBTi) and ambition to make global trade smarter and greener. Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director, DP World GCC, said: 'Decarbonising logistics is a core priority for DP World. We are actively electrifying our operations, integrating AI-powered solutions and working closely with our partners like Einride to support our net zero goals. As the 10th busiest port globally, Jebel Ali is setting the benchmark for the electrification of transport in high-volume trade hubs.' Robert Falck, CEO and Founder at Einride, said: 'This marks the first of many milestones as we set out to have the largest deployment of electric, autonomous freight mobility in the Middle East. The UAE is uniquely positioned to lead this sustainable transition given its forward-thinking approach to innovation, and we are proud to drive this in partnership with DP World.' The electric fleet is being deployed as part of a multi-phased rollout, which integrates Einride's full platform, including electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and the AI-driven Einride Saga operating system. A second wave will follow later this year, and the full fleet in 2026 - capable of moving 2 million twenty-foot containers annually. This tiered deployment uses Einride's data-driven analysis to optimise cost and operational efficiency while laying the groundwork for future autonomous deployment. With today's announcement, these vehicles are now actively transporting goods within Jebel Ali Port, using Einride's technology to make container handling more sustainable.
