The Met Police tonight confirmed they are investigating drug allegations relating to Strictly

We told two weeks ago how the BBC, with the help of external lawyers Pinsent Masons, were probing claims that two Strictly stars had abused cocaine.
Today, in a new statement, a Met spokesperson said: 'On Tuesday 12 August, the Metropolitan Police received an allegation about drug related offences.
"Police are assessing the information and further enquiries are taking place to establish whether there is evidence of a criminal offence being committed.
'We won't be commenting further at this time.'
In The Sun's story two weeks ago we told how it was claimed it was 'well known' that two Strictly stars took drugs including cocaine.
And it was alleged one Strictly personality had said about one of the stars they were 'off their face … have you seen the pupils in their eyes'.
This morning we revealed cops were now involved but did not state the nature and detail of the allegations they were investigating.
The corporation had already launched an inquiry into its flagship Saturday night family show amid claims two of its stars had used cocaine.
It is understood that detectives from the Met Police are examining other allegations relating to the telly ballroom hit, which has been rocked by a string of controversies.
Our latest shock revelation comes as the BBC prepares to launch Strictly's 23rd series next month - after officially announcing the line-up of celebrities including reality TV star Dani Dyer.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: 'It's a significant new development in the BBC's recent string of crises that they have now got the police involved in investigating allegations surrounding Strictly.
"This is a very dramatic turn of events.
'Despite all the show and its team have been through over recent months, it's hugely controversial that you've now got Scotland Yard detectives probing Strictly.
'This is their biggest prime-time family entertainment show, so it's not a good look for the BBC.'
Strictly has been the subject of inquiries into bullying and inappropriate behaviour over the past 14 months.
But this is believed to be the first time the BBC has been in contact with the police over allegations linked to the show.
It is understood the matter was referred by the BBC after it launched an inquiry, conducted by external lawyers Pinsent Masons, into alleged drug use on the show.
The Sun on Sunday reported two weeks ago how it was 'well known' that two Strictly stars took cocaine.
It was claimed one accused another of being 'off their face' - saying: 'Have you seen their pupils?'
Lawyers were brought in after ex-Strictly star and opera singer Wynne Evans made allegations in a legal submission to the BBC in March.
In relation to the drugs allegations, the BBC said a fortnight ago: 'We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us.
'We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns.
'It would not be appropriate for us to comment further.'

Strictly drug scandal, sexual slurs, 'Z-list' line-up - will it survive another year?
Strictly Come Dancing has been plagued by scandals, but it's still winging its way to our screens in September, despite some viewers calling for its axe Strictly Come Dancing has been sullied by scandals over the last few years, tarnishing its former family-friendly reputation. Kicking off in 2023 with the drama surrounding Giovanni Pernice - who was accused of bullying Sherlock star, Amada Abbington - the show's reputation as the jewel in the Beeb's crown seemed to be perilously precarious. After Giovanni was cleared of some but not all of the charges against him made by Amanda, his fellow Italian Graziano di Primo was also given the boot after footage of him appearing to kick Love Island star, Zara McDermott, in the rehearsal studio was leaked. Graziano apologised after his exit from Strictly, insisting: "I wasn't meaning to kick her. I'd never, never do that. My foot brushed her after I kicked the floor." But viewers weren't happy, with many urging the BBC to pull the plug. It comes as a PR expert has warned that Strictly is facing an identity crisis. A slew of scandals In more drama for the dance series, Go Compare star, Wynne Evans, was seen with his hand creeping around Katya Jones' waist in an alleged "in joke" between the pair last year. The Welsh warbler was then axed from the show's tour after making an alleged sexual slur about Janette Manrara and has now been let go by the BBC completely. And just when the show had seemed, for a second, scandal-free, Strictly was hit by another bombshell when it was claimed that two of its stars were high on cocaine and boozing during filming. When contacted by the Mirror about the claims its stars were drinking on set and being 'monitored', the BBC said it did "not recognise the claims and any suggestion that anyone has been asked to monitor an individual is completely untrue". However, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are investigating a drug allegation related to the BBC' s hit programme. This investigation after fresh reports that external lawyers Pinsent Masons began an inquiry into the dance competition, just days after its 14th celebrity contestant was confirmed. They previously launched an inquiry into the show after claims that two of its stars had used the Class A drug, cocaine in a long list of controversies the show has faced in the past few years. 'Z-list' line-up Scandals aside, there's also pressure on the show after it revealed an 'underwhelming' line-up, announcing the class of 2025. Strictly will return to our screens this autumn for the 23rd series, but some fans say they have already been left feeling short-changed. To crank up the excitement, the show's social media team has been dropping an announcement for each contestant. Among the names we can expect to see on the show including Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Love Island's Dani Dyer and Doctor Who star Alex Kingston. While some excitement simmered for the likes of Vicky Pattinson and YouTube star George Clarke, plenty of people were left wanting more. As BBC bosses revealed Lioness and broadcaster Karen Carney and Hollywood correspondent for Lorraine, Ross King, viewers spoke up. Strictly fans were quick to flood the comments of the post with their opinions – and many of them didn't hold back. One user wrote: "Not really into the lineup this year. It feels a little underwhelming for me." Another person mused: "Is it me, or are they really scraping the barrel for these 'celebrities'? It feels like the Z-list reboot." So can Strictly survive? The short answer is yes. Despite the slew of scandals that have surrounded it in recent years, the show still has a legion of loyal viewers who look forward to tuning in every week to see the celebrities chance their arm in a tough arena as they learn a new skill and usually something cute about themselves. The programme is still one of the BBCs' biggest exports, with many viewers defending Strictly despite some urging for it to be axed after 21 years in wake of the bad press that has surrounded it. 'You can't blame Strictly for the douchebags' After Channel 5's Jeremy Vine Show debated whether it was time for the show to end, many took to X to advocate for the show. Ahead of the new series, one declared: "I love Strictly and look forward to it! Only good thing about autumn" as another said: "Don't be ridiculous it's a great show !!" A third wrote: "No. It's one of the best shows on tv and just because something gets mentioned in a paper. Doesn't make it true." Meanwhile, a fourth stated that you can't blame Strictly for "some of the douche bags" caught up in the controversy, posting: "You seriously can't blame the show, which is hugely popular for some of the douchebags that manage to get on it. If you go around every tv show or work place, you're going to find wrong-uns! Ridiculous hysteria." The new series of Strictly starts in September, where it will, hopefully, be heavy on sequins and low on scandals.

UK viewers can now watch 'riveting' New Zealand crime drama
A crime drama that left viewers 'hooked' is now available to stream in full for free. Set in New Zealand, The Gone begins with the disappearance of an Irish couple – Ronan (Simon Mead) and Sinead (Rachel Morgan) – from the fictional rural town of Mt Affinity. Although he's just handed in his resignation after 20 years in the job, Dublin detective Theo Richter (Richard Flood) is sent across the world to assist alongside local police officers Diana Huia (Acushla-Tara Kupe), who is undertaking her first ever investigation. The case also echoes a similar occurrence 17 years prior, when a pair of murders were committed in the same town, with the killer never caught. The police then have to deal with a community's 'growing disquiet' that the murders and disappearances may be linked. Cue plenty of twists and turns, with the six-part series also incorporating a storyline centred on the Māori community who are contended with a development that wants to acquire sacred land. Meanwhile an Irish journalist whose arrived in town also goes missing herself. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Shot between Te Aroha, Auckland and Dublin, the story plays out against jaw-dropping scenery, some of which only adds to the sense of suspense and isolation. The first season was released in New Zealand in 2023, with those episodes being made available on the BBC last year. In recent weeks the second season dropped in the UK, with viewers here now able to catch up on the entire series. Sharing their reviews for the shows online, fans said they were captivated after giving the 'slow burn' drama a chance. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'After one episode I was hooked. A lot of really good dramas coming out of New Zealand & Australia lately and this is definitely one of them, 'Barbara posted on IMDB. 'As a fan of Scandinavian-set noir crime series, I've been looking forward to The Gone, and to see how it would work. I wasn't disappointed. The weaving of Kiwi and Irish themes, cast and cultures worked really well. Sometimes, this approach can feel forced but for The Gone it felt authentic and relatable,' Shelley shared. 'I did not have any expectations but, believe me, it's worth watching. The first season has a crazy ending, and I was not even close to guess the ending. For that reason, I can assure you that this series does not have a simple or boring storyline,' Itria added. More Trending After the first season ended on an almighty cliffhanger, the new episodes see Diana disappear herself. 'When it appears she went missing while chasing a lead on the town's historical Mountain Murders, the detectives enter a game of cat and mouse with 'The Goatman' who is back and more dangerous than ever,' the official synopsis teases. For those looking for the next crime drama to binge-watch, other Irish and Antipodean ones include Blue Lights, Crá, Bloodlands, Dublin Murders, Black Snow and The Tourist. JoJo Siwa surprised me when I asked intimate Chris Hughes question – but small detail proved they are the real deal
I SPENT a few hours with JoJo Siwa when she came into The Sun HQ for an interview, and I got to see first-hand how deeply she's fallen for Chris Hughes. The former child star, 22, sat down with me for an on-camera chat about her new single and upcoming UK tour, but within minutes, she happily brought up former Love Island star Chris, her face lighting up as she spoke about the intimate details of their relationship. 6 6 I have zero issue in admitting, I, like most of the nation, was baffled at first when Chris and JoJo got together. Though after meeting her in person and speaking to her both on and off camera about her new life and man, there is little doubt in my mind it's the real deal. During our interview, I decided to cheekily push my luck and bring up a recent interview that Chris did in America, in which he revealed JoJo named his crown jewels Jimmy and Timmy. Nonplussed, JoJo laughed: "Yeah, that's his balls. That's like, that's old, we never even call him Jimmy and Timmy anymore. That's like old school. We've grown out of that." Our chat then somehow moves onto how she can't get enough of kissing her man - insisting she's never had stubble rash from kissing him as he is "perfectly groomed". Her mouth broke into a grin as JoJo told me excitedly: "He is perfectly groomed. That beard is trimmed perfectly every six days by a groomer, by a barber. "It's funny, I was just thinking about this the other day. I love the feeling of his face. That little beard patch. "Like one day if he's ever like, 'I'm gonna go clean shaven', I'd be fine with it, of course, obviously, anything he wants to do, but I love, love the feeling on his facial hair. It's like, it's just scruffy." She went on to admit she's made a cute deal that once she beats him at tennis, she can have a go at trimming it. An avid tennis player, Chris clearly thinks he's made a safe bet. But JoJo tells me she's already taken up tennis lessons to change that. Jojo Siwa on her future music career, Eminem collab dreams and Chris Hughes helping her with trolls JoJo told me: "Does he let me trim it? Oh dear God, maybe for when he's in the grave, I can do it. Maybe he's like in his casket. "We actually do have a deal, if I ever beat him fair and square at a game of tennis, I get to cut his hair and trim his beard. "I have to do it good, like I won't do it bad. He did let me do a little bit on the back of his head to even it out the other day. He's particular about it, honestly, I don't need to mess it up." On paper, it shouldn't work. Prior to them entering the CBB house, no one would have ever thought they could work as a couple. Indeed, when JoJo and Chris met, she was dating Australian content creator Kath Ebs. Though I challenge anyone to chat to JoJo for even just ten minutes and come away not thinking that her relationship is real. In the past, JoJo's relationships have been intense and short - not that I am judging for a second - but her relationship with Chris already seems to be outlasting the previous one. She's even thinking about how they will spend Christmas and Thanksgiving together. 6 6 'Go the distance' JoJo tells me she hopes to see in December 25th with Chris in the UK, which will be the first time she's ever spent Christmas away from her own family. Jojo told me: "We'll be together on Halloween, but we won't be in either his or my place, but we will be together. "We'll have fun. We'll watch a scary movie or something. "My family is super chill. My family doesn't mind if we do Christmas Day. They just like to have a Christmas celebration. "And so I think what we'll do is we'll end up having a Christmas celebration with my family and then maybe spend Christmas Day with his family." "I've never had a Christmas away from my family. But since we don't celebrate Thanksgiving over here, he can come do Thanksgiving with us." After our on camera chat we both made polite small talk... and once again JoJo excitedly brought up Chris. As she'd only been in the UK for a matter of hours she was yet to see him on her trip but after a day of press rather than checking into a hotel she was going straight to his. She's clearly madly in love, I just really hope she proves the doubters wrong and they go the distance. 6 JoJo Siwa and Kath Ebbs' relationship We look back at JoJo Siwa's romance with Kath Ebbs: JoJo Siwa went public with hers and Kath Ebbs' relationship in January 2025. The Dance Moms star had been introduced to 27-year-old Australian content creator Kath by a mutual friend called G-Flip six months earlier. JoJo had split with her girlfriend Dakayla Wilson in November 2024 and it is believed she hooked up romantically with Kath soon after. Speaking in March at the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, JoJo said of her relationship: 'I am so happy. I am in a very mature relationship, and it's beautiful. It's taught me so much about life. 'It's taught me so much about love and respect, and it's a beautiful thing. 'It's different in more ways than I can count. I wouldn't even know what to say the biggest is 'cause just everything is so different and special.' Kath even claimed they had talked about marriage together. However, JoJo's romance with Kath abruptly hit the skids on April 25, 2025, at the Celebrity Big Brother wrap party. JoJo dumped Kath at the bash after spending 19 days in the CBB house - where she had grown close to Love Island star Chris Hughes.
