CM Chandrababu to Launch Schemes on National Handloom Day in Mangalagiri
As part of the day's events, the Chief Minister will launch three key welfare schemes: free electricity for eligible weavers, GST reimbursement by the government, and a thrift fund initiative aimed at supporting the handloom sector.
During his visit, Mr Naidu will tour the Mangalagiri Handloom Development Centre, where he will inspect looms and examine handloom fabrics created by local artisans.
A review meeting on creative policy is scheduled to take place in the afternoon at the Chief Minister's camp office in Undavalli. Later in the evening, Mr Naidu will attend the P4 programme at the Novotel hotel in Vijayawada.

New DDP indicators, GST collections reveal trends, cultural shifts in districts
Lucknow: The addition of 50 indicators to planning department's existing 26 categories, based on which a district's domestic product estimates (DDP) are calculated, has brought forth interesting revelations about the trends, behaviour and culture of various districts of the state. Final District Domestic Product Estimates for 2023-2024 were released a couple of months ago. DDP estimates of 2023-2024 include all 76 indicators, including GST collection through parlours and other items and collection of commercial tax. As the idea of including these indicators was mooted just a year ago, it might not show the holistic picture of any district's progress. However, it does throw light on the trend that the districts are gradually following. Going by one such indicator, women in Gautam Budh Nagar are more conscious about their looks than women from any other district. Though it is expected that not all the parlours are registered for goods and services tax (GST), the calculation is based on GST collection from parlours throughout the state. A total of Rs 11.21 crore was collected as GST from parlours in Gautam Budh Nagar, which was 38.45% higher than Noida's GST collection in 2022-2023 which stood at Rs 8.09 crore. Neighbouring Ghaziabad stood second with GST collection of Rs 7.24 crore, which was 34.02% higher than the collection of Rs 5.4 crore in 2022-2023. GST collections from parlours indicate that women in the state capital occupy third spot in beauty consciousness. Lucknow's GST collection from parlours in 2023-2024 was Rs 4.7 crore, 33.76% higher than the collection of Rs 3.51 crore in 2022-2023. Lucknow was followed by Varanasi which registered a collection of Rs 3.05 crore in 2023-2024. Interestingly, Varanasi registered the highest growth of 68.07% in collection from parlours as compared to previous fiscal which stood at 1.81 crore. However, when it comes to spending on entertainment, Lucknow tops the list with GST collection of Rs 24.5 crore in 2023-2024, a huge rise of 69.93% as compared to Rs 14.42 crore in 2022-23. Noida stands in second position with a collection of Rs 16.14 crore, registering a surge of 137.27% from Rs 6.8 crore as collection in 2022-2023. Moradabad made it to the list of top three spenders on entertainment with Rs 4.46 crore GST collection in 2023-2024 from entertainment. Similarly, there are indicators like GST collection from medical stores, private medical institutions, coaching institutes, budget allocation under National Health Mission, expenditure on Swachh Bharat Mission, tap water connection under Har Ghar Jal Yojana, district wise consumption of electricity and employer's contribution under EPFO. Other key indicators include forest cover, crop production and fuel consumption. "Besides giving a refined picture of a district's performance, these indicators are also helping in gradual shift towards formalisation as district officials will encourage more GST registrations which will bring higher revenue to the govt," principal secretary, planning, Alok Kumar III said. India won't be shaken by tariff threats, says Naidu
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said India would not be shaken by tariff threats or trade barriers imposed by other nations, in an apparent reference to past remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump describing it as a 'dead economy.' Addressing the Har Ghar Tiranga programme here, Mr. Naidu said the country had made rapid strides since Independence, emerging as the world's fourth largest economy and set to climb to third place, driven by reforms since the 1990s. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership in 'steering the country through troubled times,' noting India's talented human resources as a key asset. The tricolour, he said, was not just a symbol but a source of inspiration, evoking the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the Armed Forces. Recalling India's 'befitting reply' to the Pahalgam terror attacks, he urged people to uphold patriotism and unity. Mr. Naidu paid tributes to Pingali Venkaiah, Alluri Sitarama Raju and others who fought for freedom. Ministers Kandula Durgesh and Y. Satya Kumar, MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, and senior officials were present.

India "Losing Trust" In Partnership With US: Amitabh Kant On Tariff Move
New Delhi: The trust built up between India and the US for over two decades is bound to b pulled down by the pejorative comments and tariff moves of US President of Donald Trump, former Niti Aayog chief and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said today. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Mr Kant said, "What Donald Trump has done, by his harsh use of words, including saying that the Indian economy is a dead economy, is that Indians are increasingly losing trust in the United States' ability to be a reliable partner for India in the long run". The US President, demanding that New Delhi stop oil imports from Russia, had doubled the tariff on Indian imports in crucial sectors earlier this month, stacking up 25 per tariff on top of 25 per cent he had imposed in July. He had also said like Russia, the Indian economy is dead. "I don't care what India does with Russia," Donald Trump had said in a social media post. "They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care. We have done very little business with India, their tariffs are too high, among the highest in the world," the post read. India, Mr Kant insisted, should maintain its strategic autonomy and never compromise. "I think simply by bullying and putting you under pressure, India should never compromise. We must maintain strategic autonomy. We never did this even during the Cold War, so there's no question of doing it now," he said. India has declared the US President's action "unfair, unjustified and unreasonable". "India will take all actions necessary to protect its national interests," the foreign ministry categorically said in one of its strongest statements. What Donald Trump's tariff move amounts to is an opportunity for India "to bring in radical reforms in our own economy," and "diversify our exports" in a big way, Mr Kant said. "We need to become far more globally competitive... There's a lot of homework to be done by us in terms of labor reforms, in terms of reducing the cost of energy, so on, so that making GST far more efficient, reducing personal taxes, many other things, including ensuring bringing down the statutory liquidity ratio so that your interest rates can come down, so that you are able to then ensure that your producers are able to export and penetrate global markets," he enumerated. But also, the US being a "critical market", India should "try and work towards a win-win solution," he added.
