Garett Bolles says Sean Payton has helped the Broncos improve in 'crunch time'
The Denver Broncos have been trending up since hiring Sean Payton in 2023.
Denver improved by three wins in Payton's first season compared to the previous year, and they then improved by two more wins in Payton's second season. Broncos left tackle Garett Bolles, the team's longest-tenured player, spoke about Payton after a mandatory minicamp practice earlier this month.
"We have a hell of a coaching staff here," Bolles said on June 10. "We really do. One of the best in the NFL for a reason. Coach Payton, I love him dearly. I'm just super proud of him, that he chose us to be here. He could have gone anywhere else, but he chose to be a Denver Bronco. Just his coaching experience, his mindset and his culture that he builds is so special. He works the hell out of us, that's for sure. I think when we get in those moments when it's crunch time and you have to score or you have to make a stop, I don't think we're afraid because he puts us in situations in practice to make us feel uncomfortable so that when we get in those moments, we can win those close games.
"A couple of years ago, we weren't winning those close games. We were losing by three, four, five, seven points. Those are the games you have to win in this league. The mistakes that we used to make and the mistakes that we don't make right now is the difference. I think it's just all about the culture we have here, the players we have here and the mindset that we have here.'
Denver went 10-7 last season and reached the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Payton helped the club snap a playoff drought. Now, the next goal is a division title, and ultimately, a Super Bowl victory. Bolles believes they have the right man to take them there.

Cobbo floated for immediate switch to Sydney club as Broncos sign replacement
The St George Illawarra Dragons are reportedly keen on signing Selwyn Cobbo from the Brisbane Broncos - and it could happen as early as this season. The revealed on Monday night that Josiah Karapani has re-signed on a two-year deal with the Broncos, which might be the final nail in Cobbo's time in Brisbane. The Queensland State of Origin representative was dumped to reserve grade three weeks ago by Michael Maguire, and Karapani has scored four tries in two games since replacing him. Karapani's form has now earned him a new two-year deal in Brisbane, and Cobbo's future looks set to be elsewhere. Cobbo reportedly met with Dragons officials in Wollongong last week while the Broncos had the bye. Shane Flanagan's club are said to be the front-runners to sign the 23-year-old, with a view to him eventually replacing Clint Gutherson at fullback in the long-term future. The Dragons have reportedly discussed giving Tyrell Sloan permission to speak with rival clubs and potentially letting him leave before his $500,000 deal expires at the end of 2026. St George Illawarra are reportedly keen on getting Cobbo as soon as possible, but there's less than a week remaining before the June 30 deadline. The Sydney Morning Herald are reporting the Broncos aren't keen on letting Cobbo walk before his deal expires at the end of this season. Brisbane have also signed Grant Anderson from the Melbourne Storm for next year, and can only offer Cobbo a one-year extension for $300,000. "Selwyn Cobbo is unlikely to be at the club beyond this year," reporter Michael Chammas said on Channel 9 on Monday night. "The Dragons are waiting to see what the Broncos do. They want to make sure that he's ready to leave Brisbane before they make him an offer." Chammas revealed the Dragons have a spot available in their 30-man roster due to Ben Hunt and Francis Molo leaving. "The Dragons are looking at an 18-month deal (starting now)," he added. "They have a spot available for this year and they've got the money as well. In a perfect world the Dragons would get Selwyn Cobbo this year to play centre or wing. "But the Broncos are unlikely to entertain that before June 30 at this stage. It all depends on what Cobbo wants and how happy he is, but the mail out of Brisbane is he isn't all that happy with how he's been treated by Michael Maguire." View this post on Instagram A post shared by NRL on Nine (@nrlonnine) There was once a chain of thought that Cobbo wouldn't leave Brisbane due to his family roots and connection with hometown Cherbourg. But that has changed and Cobbo has declared he'd be happy to move interstate if it was right for him. As well as receiving interest from the Dragons, the Roosters, Dolphins and Cowboys have also inquired about signing Cobbo. However the Dolphins have reportedly pulled out of the race, and the Cowboys are only interested in a six-month deal for the rest of 2025. "I'd love to see him stay but he has got to do what is best for himself and his family," said Staggs, who re-signed with Brisbane last week. "He is a player that can turn the game around. I think Selly is in our top 17 for sure. He can turn nothing into something."

Former Pro Bowl WR still sees San Francisco 49ers as Super Bowl contenders
The San Francisco 49ers have been one of the NFL's premier teams over the last 14 years, making it to three Super Bowls, and despite losing all three, they've spent half of those years recording at least 10 wins in a season. Unfortunately, the team stumbled a bit in 2024 after making a Super Bowl run the year prior, finishing with a 6-11 record and in fourth place in the NFC West. This poor performance led to multiple key players leaving in the offseason, including Deebo Samuel, Dre Greenlaw, Talanoa Hufanga, Charvarius Ward, Leonard Floyd and many others. With those changes, many believe that the 49ers will continue their struggles from last year and miss the postseason for a second year in a row for the first time since 2017-18. However, former NFL wide receiver, three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion Keyshawn Johnson believes San Francisco can still be contenders to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in 2025. "They didn't lose the type of pieces that we think," Johnson said recently on FOX Sports 1's "Speak." "They lost some numbers, but they replaced those numbers in free agency and through the draft. I don't think they're going to fall off at all. I think the culture's still there and the window for the Super Bowl is still wide open. 'Everybody for the most part from the leadership standpoint is in place. In terms of the guy that they may miss the most, probably just Deebo." While the 49ers moved on from so many contributors, they also made it a priority to sign tight end George Kittle, quarterback brock Purdy and linebacker Fred Warner to long-term extensions that should keep the core together for a while. 'You still got Christian McCaffrey, you still got [Brandon] Aiyuk, you still got Fred Warner, you still got Brock Purdy and Kittle and Trent Williams,' Johnson said. 'So you still got [Nick] Bosa and company, they're still there.' If the 49ers are going to contend for the division in 2025, they'll need their veterans to be healthy (which is a big ask for a few of them), and their rookies, including first-round pick Mykel Williams, to hit the ground running. Aaron Rodgers' mystery wife nowhere to be found on his weekend adventures
Aaron Rodgers had some fun in the sun this weekend in Southern California — sans his mysterious other half. The new Steelers quarterback took in a three-hour workout session Saturday, as seen in exclusive photos obtained Monday by The Post, before hitting the beach the following day with a pal and his adorable husky pup near his Malibu home. The outings come two weeks after Rodgers, 41, confirmed he's been married a 'couple of months.' 9 Aaron Rodgers was photographed in Southern California over the weekend as his mysterious wife remains out of sight. © New York Post 9 The new Steelers quarterback was photographed taking in a three-hour workout on June 21, 2025. © New York Post The four-time league MVP — who was dating a woman named Brittani as of December 2024 — initially sparked marriage buzz earlier this month when he wore a black band in an official Steelers portrait after agreeing to a one-year, $13.65 million deal with the club. Speculation about Rodgers' spouse has only continued to mount since his bombshell revelation, as his significant other has remained out of sight. 9 Aaron Rodgers (r.) strolled the beach with a friend on June 22, 2025. © New York Post 9 He played in the sand with his adorable husky pup. © New York Post 9 The Super Bowl winner wore his wedding band to the beach. © New York Post Insiders recently told the Daily Mail that members of his family are 'unconvinced the marriage is real,' speculating if the quarterback 'may have had a symbolic 'commitment ceremony' instead of a legally binding wedding.' Prior to his romance with Brittani, Rodgers was engaged to actress Shailene Woodley. They ended their engagement in early 2022. The ex-Jet also dated actress Olivia Munn and retired NASCAR driver Danica Patrick. 9 Aaron Rodgers confirmed in June 2025 that he's been married a 'couple of months.' © New York Post 9 He's currently preparing for his first season with the Steelers. © New York Post When discussing her 2020 breakup with Rodgers on 'The Sage Steele Show' last month, Patrick alleged their 'emotionally abusive' relationship 'wore me down to nothing.'
