A new BBC factual drama series in The Bombing of Pan Am 103, will be airing soon on the channel.
It will explore the tragic bombing of an American passenger flight above the small Scottish town of Lockerbie, which occurred back in 1988.
The attack killed 270 people, which included all 243 passengers and 16 crew aboard the flight and 11 residents of Lockerbie.
The programme follows the joint investigation from US and Scottish authorities into who exactly could have planned and carried out the bombing.
As reported by the Radio Times, the synopsis reads: "The series follows the untold story of the Scots-US investigation into the attack and the devastating effect it had on the small town and the families who lost loved ones.
"From the initial exhaustive search for evidence on the ground in Scotland, via the US and Malta to the trial at Camp Zeist in 2000, the series leads up to the forthcoming new trial in the US."
For accuracy and sensitivity, families and friends of the victims were consulted by the production team during development of The Bombing of Pan Am 103.
The Bombing of Pan Am 103 becomes the second TV show released in 2025 to cover the incident, following Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, which starred Colin Firth.
THE BOMBING OF PAN AM 103 comes to @BBCOne this Sunday evening from 9pm. Episode 2 will air on Monday at 9pm. Episodes available on @BBCiPlayer shortly afterwards #TBOPA103 pic.twitter.com/nDLLYlakXT

Hundreds honor security guard killed in New York office tower shooting

NEW YORK -- Hundreds turned out to honor the life of Aland Etienne, the security guard who was killed last month at a Manhattan office tower by a gunman targeting the headquarters of the National Football League. An immigrant from Haiti who came to the U.S. in 2017 with a dream for a new life, Etienne was remembered as a dedicated father and grandfather who was faithfully working at his security post when the gunman suddenly opened fire on July 28. 'My brother will be remembered as a hero. A humble, steady, kind New York hero,' said Smith Etienne, Aland's brother, in a statement. 'Aland made the ultimate sacrifice, choosing bravery and selflessness over fear. In his final moments, he acted to protect others.' The memorial service was held Saturday in Brooklyn for Etienne, 46, the last of the four shooting victims to be laid to rest. A New York City police officer, an investment firm executive and a real estate firm worker were also killed. The gunman wounded a fifth person before taking his own life. Like Etienne, slain NYPD Officer Didarul Islam, who was working a department-approved private security detail that day, was an immigrant. Islam was Bangladeshi-American. Manny Pastreich, president of Etienne's union, 32BJ SEIU, said Etienne represents not only essential workers who are the backbone of New York City, but also immigrants who come to the U.S. to build a better life and contribute in both large and small ways. 'His legacy will serve as a reminder of the contributions of immigrants, and the sacrifices, they make every day,' Pastreich said in a statement.

TV actor Ray Brooks dies aged 86

TV star Ray Brooks has died aged 86. The actor - whose career spanned five decades - passed away on Saturday (09.08.25) following a short illness. Brooks was, perhaps, best-known for narrating Mr Benn, the animated TV series that aired on the BBC in the 70s, while he also played a leading role in Cathy Come Home, the TV play directed by Ken Loach. In a statement, the actor's sons, Will and Tom, told the BBC that he he was best known for Mr Benn, "with people continually asking him to say the catchphrase 'as if by magic!'". They added: "Although only 13 episodes were made, they were repeated twice a year for 21 years." Brooks - who spent the last few years living with dementia - was also known for playing Robbie Box, the rogue gambler, in Big Deal, the BBC comedy drama series that aired between 1984 and 1986. What's more, Brooks is one of few actors to star in both EastEnders and Coronation Street. The late actor played Norman Philips on Coronation Street in the 60s, and he played Joe Macer - who murdered his wife Pauline Fowler - on EastEnders. In a post on X, EastEnders' official account said: "We are deeply saddened to hear that Ray Brooks has passed away. Ray will always be remembered fondly by everyone that worked with him at EastEnders. Our love and thoughts are with Ray's family and friends." Danny Baker, the veteran broadcaster, has also paid tribute to Brooks. Alongside a throwback image of Brooks, Danny wrote on X: "Ray Brooks in the landmark film, Cathy Come Home. "When I was young it was a sensation because it was shot round our way. "Here's Ray in Southwark Park with my school and estate in the background. "His excellent 1971 album is worth £££ too... "RIP mate. (sic)" Brooks' sons noted that he "shunned the limelight", despite his fame and success. They said: "His three true loves were family [he also had a daughter Emma, who died in 2003], Fulham Football Club, and spending time in Brighton, where he was born."
