Unlike in a throuple, the wives are only in a relationship with their husband and not with each other and are known as "sister wives".
The large family all live together, including their 11 children, who all of the wives raise together.
Despite having to share a husband, the Barrett wives do not seem jealous of each other, and often make videos on social media bragging about their unconventional relationship.
However, while they not may appear insecure about themselves, the wives allegedly compete for the hubby's attention, a recent clip on their Instagram page showed.

The video, which has been viewed more than a whopping 27million times, sees the wives - Jess, Gabby, Diana, Cam and Starr - doing their own thing, as the hubby arrives home.
Hearing the door open, the ''sister wives'' get excited - and rush to be the first one to give him a kiss.
One of them, for instance, quits cleaning the floor - whilst another immediately stops doing the dishes.
The third wife proceeds to stop sprucing up the couch, as the fourth ditches cleaning up the mess after a baby and another immediately looks in the direction of the hubby.
One by one, they all start getting ready for the race - whether that means getting their trainers in sports mode or fixing their hair.
''When hubby gets home and we all are trying to be the first to kiss him,'' read the text on the footage.
I'm raising my child with 5 parents & none are the biological father - yes it's unconventional but full of love
''Nothing wrong with a little healthy competition,'' the husband chuckled in the caption.
But while this arrangement might work for the mega family, social media users were not so sure, as thousands flooded to comments to share their thoughts.
One person prayed: ''May this type of relationship never find me.''
What is polyamory?
Polyamory is the practice of having romantic relationships with more than one person at the same time, with the knowledge and consent of all parties.
It can refer to relationships where one person has multiple partners or spouses, or where all parties are in a relationship with each other, for example in a throuple.
According to You Gov, 6.8% of people in the UK have been in a polyamorous relationship.
''I'd rather scoop my eyes out with a hot spoon,'' another declared.
''This is actually really depressing,'' is how someone else felt about the relationship.
''Being poly is one thing, but being the only man in a 5 woman relationship is definitely fishy,'' a fourth thought.
The wives previously said that polyamory is a great choice for men who are always cheating, or who jump from relationship to relationship.
They added that they don't want another man in their lives, and are happy sharing just one.

Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones split as he returns to dating app 'keen to meet other women'

Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones have 'ended their rumoured romance' after the former Blue Peter presenter was 'spotted on a popular dating app' Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton appear to have called it 'quits' on their rumoured romance, as Gethin has reportedly returned to a dating app. ‌ The popular BBC presenters have shared a close friendship for some time, which was believed to have blossomed into something more after they were seen leaving the BAFTAs together in May. While they never officially confirmed a relationship, the pair had been spotted spending time together away from work, including a recent spa day at a country club. ‌ But it seems the brief romance has fizzled out as Gethin has reportedly been spotted on celebrity app Raya while he enjoys a trip to Australia, where he's been watching the British and Irish Lions' tour with a group of mates, the Mirror reports. ‌ It comes days after a further hint that things were heating up between the pair when Gethin, 47, took to his Instagram stories to publicly wish Helen happy birthday as she turned 42 earlier this month. "Gethin is on the prowl Down Under which puts the nail in the coffin for his romance with Helen," a source told Mail Online. "He's there with pals but keen to meet other women. ‌ "There is no way Helen would stand for that if they were together and he has far too much respect for her to even go behind her back. Despite having an increasingly close connection it's cooled down significantly which is gutting for fans who really wanted them to be together." The pair have both endured heartbreak in recent years. Gethin's engagement to Katherine Jenkins was called off in 2011 and he's experienced a series of short relationships since. ‌ Meanwhile Helen separated from ex-husband Richie Myler - with whom she shares three children - back in 2022. Helen and Leeds Rhinos rugby player Richie, 35, had been married for eight years and had just welcomed their third child, Elsie, when they parted ways. He now has two more children with Stephanie Thirkhill, also 35, whose millionaire father Andrew Thirkill is the president of Richie's rugby club. ‌ Shocking her followers at the time, Helen revealed the devastating news of her split on Instagram as she shared: "Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children." While writing her 2023 autobiography, In My Stride, Helen opened up about the heartbreak of her unexpected separation. She shared candid reflections on the emotional toll it took, admitting that the breakup came as a shock and wasn't something she had ever seen coming. She penned: "I was in shock. I know that following break-ups, people often say they didn't see it coming and it sounds like a cliché, but that was me."

Gen Z wardrobes are already full of 90s and noughties fashion statements from scrunchies and chunky heeled boots to flared leggings. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Scrunchies are among the trends that folk loved in the 90s 2 The classic Casio is back And now the latest nostalgic accessory making a big comeback is the humble 90s style digital watch. Once a school uniform staple, vintage Casio timepieces are suddenly trending again among younger fashion lovers. Affordable, nostalgic and just the right amount of ironic, these watches are fast becoming a must-have street style statement. It's all part of the ongoing retro revival, where Gen Z continues to borrow and reinvent the style codes of the 1990s and early 2000s. But unlike the more obvious comebacks - such as bucket hats, low-rise jeans and platform trainers - the vintage digital watch has quietly earned cult status as a cool and understated detail. Danny Toffel, from Watches2U, understands exactly why the 90s models have come back into fashion. He said: "These digital watches tick a lot of boxes for Gen Z. "They're affordable - especially when compared to hundreds of pounds you have to shell out for a smartwatch - plus they offer that much-wanted nostalgia and are practical, too." On TikTok, videos tagged #casio and #vintagewatch have racked up millions of views, with users styling classic Casio models alongside baggy jeans, crop tops and thrifted bomber jackets. Fashion creators are pairing them with everything from tracksuits to blazers. 'Awful flashbacks to being a teen in the 90s' fashion fans cry as Primark brings back tee trend no-one wanted Meanwhile, interest in old-school timepieces has seen a surge in resale platforms like Depop and Vinted. Now high street stores and online retailers have started stocking updated versions of the retro designs, many for under £30. Daniel added: "It's great to see the trend return for a younger generation, many of whom are rejecting a hyper-consumer lifestyle and instead want ways to be unique."

Parents of Southport stabbing victim, 7, say her 'light lives on' one year on from attack

Bebe King was killed along with Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, when Axel Rudakubana launched his knife attack on the Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport on July 29 last year The family of Southport attack victim Bebe King have told how her light "lives on". They issued a tribute today, on the eve of the first anniversary of the attack. ‌ The six-year-old was killed along with Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, when Axel Rudakubana launched his knife attack on the Taylor Swift-themed dance class in the town on July 29 last year. ‌ A post on the Instagram account of Bebe's Hive, set up by her parents Lauren and Ben, detailed the youngster's "favourite musical" Wicked with the quote: "Because I knew you, I have been changed for good." Bebe's Hive was set up by her family to provide support for grieving children. The post, which appeared to have been written by Bebe's mother Lauren, referred to her as "my mini me" and "her dad's soulmate". ‌ It went on: "It's time for us to take the space we need. To feel, to breathe, to hold each other close. To just be. To be able to create something so purposeful, so needed, has given us a strength we didn't know we had. A reason. A focus. "We love and thank every single person who has helped us carry this. I feel her with me every day and that feeling is what keeps us going. Her light, her care, her spark - it lives on, and we'll continue it for as long as we can. ‌ "To our incredible family and friends, thank you for keeping us afloat, while trying to keep yourselves above water. Thank you for loving Bebe so deeply and for riding this forever journey with us. "To our amazing community, I don't think you realise what you've done. To everyone further, we also thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your kindness has saved us. ‌ "To Elsie and Alice, we never had the chance to meet you, but we feel like we know you. Your light shines so brightly through your parents, and we're proud to walk alongside them." In a reference to the Taylor Swift song Bejeweled, the post went on to say: "Our girls' energy will continue to shimmer. And to every brave child, every adult, every family whose lives were changed forever that day, we see you and we're sending you so much love." A video of Bebe dancing and playing with a bubble machine accompanied the caption, along with photos of her. Sefton Council asked people not to lay flowers to mark the anniversary of the attack. ‌ They suggested donating to causes including Bebe's Hive, as well as Elsie's Story and Alice's Wonderdance, which were set up in the victim's memories. A three-minute silence will be held in the town at 3pm on Tuesday. Sgt Greg Gillespie, one of the first officers at the scene of the tragedy, recalled the look of "fear and terror" in the faces of the people who flagged him down as he arrived. "I don't think there's any amount of training or experience that can quite prepare you to deal with something like that or to process it," he told the BBC. "As a father, the thought of something like that happening to a child and then having to get up the next morning and try to proceed with your life is unfathomable. But the three sets of parents have not only done that… They've continued the legacy of their daughters' names and they brought the community together."
