Veteran actor Michael Madsen has died at the age of 67.
The highly-praised actor is best known for his antagonistic roles in such Quentin Tarantino classics as Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill.
HOW THE WORLD CAME TO LOSE MICHAEL MADSEN
The 67-year-old Madsen was found at his home in Malibu, California, on the morning of July 3, 2025.

The actor was pronounced dead on the scene after he succumbed to cardiac arrest, which his manager has confirmed.
MICHAEL MADSEN'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO HOLLYWOOD
Madsen enjoyed the limelight for more than 40 years and amassed more than 300 film and television credits. He had a knack for really locking into roles that saw him portray an antagonist, which led him and Tarantino to develop an on-screen rapport of the highest order.
THE RAZOR BLADE AND THE EAR
Madsen has a myriad of memorable scenes, but none more iconic than the torture scene in the quintessential, Tarantino film, Reservoir Dogs (1992). A robbery goes awry due to a cop infiltrating a caper. The unhinged Mr Blonde, portrayed by Madsen, goes about sniffing the mole out. He zeros in on the person he thinks is compromised and slices his ear off while dancing playfully to Stuck In The Middle With You by Stealers Wheel.
OTHER MUST-SEE MADSEN APPEARANCES
Madsen will usually be a dark character, as is evinced by his work in such films as Donnie Brasco (1997), The Hateful Eight (2015), and Kill Bill: Volumes 1 and 2 (2003-2004). He showed a softer side to his art in Free Willy (1993) and portrayed an anti-hero in Sin City (2005) as the crooked cop, Bob.
His sister Virginia Madsen-an Oscar nominated actor-paid homage to her brother with some sincere sentiments shared about him in a statement.
'He was thunder and velvet. Mischief wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw,' she intimated.

WHAT THE ACTOR WAS WORKING ON BEFORE HE DIED
For the last few years, he had been placing his efforts on creating a few independent feature films. He was also gearing up to release a book of poetry. The collection entitled Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems was an offering fans were anticipating.
In March, he became an ambassador for a cigar brand, a new venture about which he was excited.
Madsen is survived by five children. He lost his son, Hudson, to suicide in 2022. This had a hard-hitting effect on the enthralling talent from Chicago, Illinois.

Fifty and fabulous: Rami Chuene celebrates life with joy and gratitude

Reflecting on her journey, the "Isono" actress, Chuene took to Instagram to share her thoughts on this significant birthday, celebrated on July 3, dubbing it "The Year of Jubilee", which is known as a symbol of liberation, restoration, and fresh beginnings. South African actress and cultural icon Rami Chuene has stepped into her milestone 50th year with a radiant spirit and a heartfelt message to her fans. In the post, she expressed profound gratitude for the grace and mercy she feels for her life, even amidst the trials she has faced. "The Year of Jubilee - the year of liberation, restoration, rejoicing and a fresh start. It also represents a time of experiencing God's grace and mercy." she wrote. She added: "We are reminded that, despite trials, God's love and mercy remain ever at work, guiding humanity towards a future of light and reconciliation. With a mix of humour and openness, Chuene joked about the physical changes that come with age. "Thirty years ago, fifty was so far, so old, so elderly and today here we are ... Don't get me started on those thin but visible lines (wrinkles). What about the nipples being in line with the belly button? "Back then, motho had a figure, now we're just figuring it out. And what about the knees? Now I finally get what that song, hlogo, magetla, sefuba le letheka, mangwele le menwana meant!" "My heart is full, my spirit is at ease and my soul is content. For this 50th birthday, all the ones before and the ones still come by God's grace, I am truly grateful. What a ride, what a life! Hello Fifty❤️," she wrote, showing appreciation for all the experiences that have shaped her thus far. Earlier this year, Chuene invited women who are turning 50 to share their forgotten dreams. She said that she has "angels" who are ready to help those women make their dreams come true. This will be done through her foundation. "If you have a wish, drop us a mail ... Let's come together. Let's celebrate."

Public Safety MMC leads by-law enforcement operation in Midrand

The Public Safety MMC, Dr Mgcini Tshwaku, led a land invasion and by-law enforcement clean-up operation in Midrand on June 20. He visited food trailer owners on Lever Road and illegal recyclers on R101 Old Pretoria Road in Midrand, where some cooking items, such as pots and gas-stoves, were confiscated. Tshwaku was accompanied by various departments, including the Johannesburg Metro Police Department's by-law enforcement unit, land invasion unit, citizen relationship and urban management (CRUM), and immigration unit. Read more: JMPD removes street dancers on Allandale and Pretorius roads Noordwyk Residents Association chairperson Bonginkosi Nhlapo, who was also part of the operation, praised Tshwaku's efforts. 'Just wish there were more arrests of illegal immigrants, and the shutdown of all the street vendors, moving trucks, and food trailers. Maybe, if he was mayor under the current coalition, Johannesburg would have a fighting chance to be cleaned up.' Nhlapo said more raids of this nature would help improve Midrand, and help it to go back to the suburb it used to be. JMPD spokesperson Superintendent Xolani Fihla confirmed being part of the raid. 'Ours was to accompany the MMC and ensure that our various units enforce by-laws directly related to them.'
