"Had Bad Moments": Months After Fallout, Trump Says Musk A Good Person
Months after the relations between Donald Trump and his billionaire aide, Elon Musk, turned sour, the US President defended the Tesla CEO after a poll revealed he was the "most unpopular public figure in America." A survey by the global research firm Gallup found Musk's popularity dropped by 24 points since January, making him the most unfavoured famous person in the United States.
"I don't know [if] that poll's accurate. I think he's a good person. I think he had a bad moment, a really bad moment. But he's a good person. I believe that," Trump told a reporter in response to a question about the survey.

In the survey conducted between July 7 and July 21, pollster Gallup asked 1,000 random Americans to rank 14 prominent figures--including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been accused of crimes against humanity for Israel's actions in Gaza-- based on their likability. The list also included Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, Joe Biden and Pope Leo XIV.
Musk's net favorability was at -4 in January and came down to -28 in July. The Tesla boss was rated dead last, with 61 per cent of respondents having an unfavourable opinion of him. However, despite the overwhelming majority of negative reactions, 33 per cent of respondents liked Musk, while six per cent said they had no opinion on him at all.

The world's richest man, who once enjoyed the status of "First Buddy" to President Trump, had a speedy fall from grace following his criticism of the Republican's signature tax and spending bill. The two had an explosive fallout in June, with the pair trading blows on social media.
While Musk alleged the Trump administration was not making the files related to disgraced financier and sex offender Jaffery Epstein public because Trump's name was on the files, the President suggested that the South African-born businessman "go back where he came from."

YEREVAN: The streets were almost deserted in Yerevan Saturday because of the summer heat, but at shaded parks and fountains, Armenians struggled to make sense of what the accord signed a day earlier in Washington means for them. The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, two Caucasian countries embroiled in a territorial conflict since the fall of the USSR, met Friday and signed a peace treaty under the watch of US President Donald Trump. In Yerevan, however, few of the people asked by AFP were enthusiastic. 'Acceptable' "It's a good thing that this document was signed because Armenia has no other choice," said Asatur Srapyan, an 81-year-old retiree. He believes Armenia hasn't achieved much with this draft agreement, but it's a step in the right direction. "We are very few in number, we don't have a powerful army, we don't have a powerful ally behind us, unlike Azerbaijan," he said. "This accord is a good opportunity for peace." Maro Huneyan, a 31-year-old aspiring diplomat, also considers the pact "acceptable", provided it does not contradict her country's constitution. "If Azerbaijan respects all the agreements, it's very important for us. But I'm not sure it will keep its promises and respect the points of the agreement," she added. 'Endless concessions' But Anahit Eylasyan, 69, opposes the agreement and, more specifically, the plan to create a transit zone crossing Armenia to connect the Nakhchivan region to the rest of Azerbaijan. "We are effectively losing control of our territory. It's as if, in my own apartment, I had to ask a stranger if I could go from one room to another," she explains. She also hopes not to see Russia, an ally of Armenia despite recent tensions, expelled from the region." Anahit also criticizes Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for "making decisions for everyone" and for his "endless concessions to Azerbaijan". 'More stability... in the short term' According to President Trump, Armenia and Azerbaijan have committed "to stop all fighting forever; open up commerce, travel and diplomatic relations; and respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity." For Olesya Vartanyan, an independent researcher specializing in the Caucasus, the Washington agreement "certainly brings greater stability and more guarantees for the months, if not years, to come." But given the long-lasting tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, "I fear that we will have to plan only for the very short term," she said.

Ukraine drone attack kills one, damages industrial facility in Saratov, Russia says
One person was killed, and several apartments and an industrial facility were damaged in a Ukrainian drone attack on the south Russian region of Saratov, the governor said on Sunday (August 10, 2025). Roman Busargin posted on the Telegram messaging app that residents were evacuated after debris from a destroyed drone damaged three apartments in the overnight attack. The Rosneft-owned refinery in the Saratov city was forced to suspend operations earlier this year for safety reasons after Ukrainian drone attacks, industry sources told Reuters. Russia's SHOT Telegram channel, which often publishes information from sources in the security services and law enforcement, reported about eight explosions were heard over Saratov and Engels, cities separated by the Volga River. Russia's civil aviation authority Rosaviatsia said on Telegram that flights in and out of Saratov had been halted for about two hours early on Sunday to ensure air safety. Both sides deny targeting civilians in their strikes on each other's territory in the war that Russia launched with a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Kyiv says its attacks inside Russia are aimed at destroying infrastructure that is key to Moscow's war efforts, including energy and military infrastructure, and are in response to Russia's continued strikes.
