Bharti Airtel Q1 PAT more than doubles to Rs 5,948 crore; ARPU rises to Rs 250
Total revenues increased by 28.5% YoY to Rs 49,463 crore in the April June 2025 quarter. The growth was driven by strong momentum in both India and Africa.
India revenues for Q1 FY26 were at Rs 37,585 crore, up 29%YoY. Mobile revenues grew 21.6% YoY on the back of improved realizations and customer additions. ARPU for the quarter stood at Rs 250 as compared to Rs 211 in Q1 FY25.
The company managed to fortify its leadership in the postpaid segment, maintaining momentum with net additions of 0.7 million customers in Q1 FY26, binging the total customer base to 26.6 million.
During the quarter, Airtel expanded its nationwide network by installing nearly 1,800 additional towers and approximately 7,500 mobile broadband stations to enhance customer experience. Demonstrating its commitment to delivering superior network quality, the company has invested in the addition of nearly 15,400 towers and deployed approximately 43,700 kms of fiber, on YoY basis.
The Homes business demonstrated robust momentum, achieving 25.7% YoY revenue growth driven by record high customer additions. During the quarter, accelerated expansion of its Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) network resulting in total Wifi net addition of 939K customers, bringing the total customer base to 11.0 million. Additionally, the company expanded its home-pass network significantly, adding nearly 1.6 million fibre home passes in the quarter.
Airtel Business revenue declined by 7.7% YoY, impacted by stated objective of focusing on quality revenues and discontinue low margin business. Underlying growth remains steady driven by both core connectivity and new age digital services.
Digital TV posts revenue of Rs 763 crore with customer base of 15.7 million. Additionally, IPTV services, which were rolled out last quarter, continue to gain traction with encouraging customer response as we added 0.65 million customers.
EBIDTA improved by 41.2% to Rs 28,167 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 19,944 crore in Q1 FY25. EBITDA margin rose by 520 basis points YoY to 56.9% in Q1 FY26.
Profit before tax (PBT) in Q1 FY26 was at Rs 10,504 crore, up by 98.6% from Rs 5,290 crore posted in Q1 FY25.
Consolidated Net Debt to EBITDA ratio (annualized) stood at 1.70 times as on 30 June 2025 as compared to 1.86 times as on 31 March 2025. Consolidated Net Debt (excluding lease obligations) to EBITDAaL ratio stood at 1.26 times as on 30 June 2025.
Gopal Vittal, vice-chairman and MD, said: "We delivered another quarter of consistent growth, with consolidated revenues at 49,463 crores growing 3.3% on a sequential basis.
Our India revenue, including Passive Infrastructure Services, increased by 2.3% sequentially. Africa reported solid performance with 6.7% growth in constant currency.
Our digital network across India and Africa now serves over 600 million customers. Our balance sheet continues to demonstrate strength, supported by solid cash flow generation and disciplined capital allocation."

The scrip was up 0.01% to currently trade at Rs 1930 on the BSE.

Nitish Kumar hails Bihar's free electricity scheme, benefiting 1.89 crore consumers
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday interacted via video conferencing with electricity consumers from multiple districts to discuss the state's free power scheme, which provides up to 125 units of electricity at no cost. The initiative, he said, has been a "revolutionary step" in improving the lives of ordinary citizens. "Free electricity up to 125 units is benefiting 1.89 crore consumers in Bihar. It is a revolutionary step for the welfare of the common people of Bihar. We are also promoting solar energy - it is now installed on all government buildings, and if any consumer wishes to install it at home, the government will help," CM Nitish said. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary noted that, unlike other states, where exceeding the subsidised limit by even one unit triggers charges on the entire bill, Bihar's policy bills consumers only for the units used above 125. "The Bihar government under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar is giving a total electricity subsidy of Rs 20,000 crore," he said. Bihar Energy Minister Vijendra Yadav appealed to residents to use electricity responsibly. "Don't misuse electricity if you are getting it free," he cautioned. The state has begun depositing the July subsidy amount directly into consumer accounts, with August consumption under 125 units also exempt from recharge. To engage the public, special awareness programs are being held at 3,000 locations across Bihar. During Tuesday's interaction, around 15 lakh consumers shared their feedback and experiences with the Chief Minister. The main event was held at the auditorium of the Energy Department in Patna, where CM Nitish, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, Energy Minister Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary S Siddhartha, Secretary to the Chief Minister Kumar Ravi, Patna divisional Commissioner Chandrashekher Singh, Patna DM Tyagarajan SM and many other dignitaries were present. The government has redesigned electricity bills to feature CM Nitish's photo, seen as both an information tool and a political image-building measure.

Delhi emerges as cybercrime hotspot, residents lose over Rs 1,450 cr in 11 Years
New Delhi: The national capital has seen a sharp rise in cybercrime incidents over the last decade, with residents losing more than Rs 1,450 crore to online fraud between 2014 and mid-2025, according to data presented in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, citing inputs from Delhi Police, revealed that the number of cyber financial fraud cases in the city has multiplied nearly eightfold in this period. In 2014, 226 such cases were recorded, involving losses of Rs 2.63 crore. By 2024, the number rose to 1,591 cases, with financial losses skyrocketing to over Rs 817 crore. In the first half of 2025 alone (till 30 June), 184 cases have already cost victims more than Rs 70 crore. In the same duration, 11,712 cyber financial fraud cases have been registered by the Delhi Police. While the NCRB's Crime in India 2022 report ranks Delhi's cybercrime rate at 3.2 cases per lakh population, far below that of states like Telangana and Karnataka, the financial impact per case in Delhi remains disproportionately high. Experts attribute this to the city's high digital penetration, widespread use of online banking and UPI transactions, and a concentration of high-value targets. Despite multiple measures, structural gaps persist in tackling cyber threats, particularly those targeting women. Rai said the Centre has strengthened the response mechanism through initiatives like the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, and the Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System. The government has also set up the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory and launched the CyTrain MOOC platform for law enforcement training. Under the Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children (CCPWC) Scheme, financial assistance is being provided to states and UTs for cyber forensic-cum-training laboratories, hiring junior cyber consultants, and training police, prosecutors, and judicial officers. Delhi has commissioned cyber labs and set up a dedicated Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit. Since 2022, each of the city's 15 districts has had a cyber police station, alongside help desks in all police stations to assist women victims.
