Above average warmth, chances for moisture lacking

Yahoo08-04-2025

There are not as many Freeze Alerts this morning but a few of our counties to the northeast will be under a Freeze Warning until 8am. Even though most of us are chilly in the 30s this morning, most of us are also above freezing.
We have more sunshine and warmth on the way. Highs will be in the 70s and 80s.
Winds will be stronger today too and reach 20 to 25 mph. Storm Tracker Satellite and Radar will continue to be pretty quiet over the coming days, at least for our area.
Since we are not expecting much moisture we will see wildfire concerns begin to creep back into the area from the northwest.
There will be a small chance for rain mainly to the north this evening and through the night as winds shift out of the north. Any rain will be light and spotty.
Temperatures during the night will not be as chilly and everyone will be well above freezing.
After another warm and breezy afternoon Wednesday, there will be one more opportunity for rainfall. A few thunderstorms will be possible to the northeast but most of this activity will miss us. There will be a 10% chance for rain in the rest of the area.
The rest of the week will be dry and fire concerns to the northwest will need to continue to be monitored.
The weekend will be gusty and warm with widespread highs in the 80s by Sunday. Skies look to stay dry into early next week.

Neosho River flooding causes Ottawa County road closures

MIAMI, Okla. — Heavy rainfall from recent severe storms has caused the Neosho River in northeast Oklahoma to rise well above flood stage. Moderate flooding is occurring along the Neosho River in Ottawa County. The river is currently sitting at 19 feet and is expected to crest at 20 feet on Sunday (6/8). That has prompted a flood warning for Ottawa County until 9:00 a.m. Monday. However, any rain we get this weekend could cause flood waters to rise above what forecasters are predicting. Flooding around Miami has made it difficult for drivers Friday (6/6), closing Highway 125 near the fairgrounds, along with several other roads throughout Ottawa County. If you see a road covered with water, or barricades blocking a flooded road, Miami Police say it's best to just turn around. 'The fine for driving around a barricade is $560, so just be smart, be safe. We're already going to be strapped as it is with all the flooding that's going on. We have localized flooding throughout the city of Miami right now and other than South Main Street being blocked, Highway 125 being blocked, we have other areas throughout the city that are also blocked that we're dealing with. So, help us out by staying safe. Don't drive around the barricades,' said Miami Police Chief, Stephen Sigmon. Despite the flooding, the O'Reilly Auto Parts Outlaw Nationals Monster Truck Show will take place this weekend (6/6 – 6/7) at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds in Miami. A detour on 69 Highway will take you around Highway 125, which is closed due to rising flood waters. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
