Thomas Partey STILL has profile page on Arsenal website after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault - just five days after leaving the club

Daily Maila day ago
Thomas Partey continues to have a 'player profile' on Arsenal 's website despite leaving the club earlier this week.
The discovery comes in the wake of the midfielder being with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. Partey is accused of attacking three women between 2021 and 2022.
The charges follow a three year investigation by Scotland Yard and comes just five days after his Arsenal contract expired on June 30.
Partey had been in discussions with the Gunners over a deal after impressing last season for Mikel Arteta 's men, who finished second in the Premier League and reached the semi-final of the Champions League.
The 32-year-old's listing on the Gunners' site includes a brief description of the player, that reads: 'Powerful midfielder Thomas showed his value to the team once again at the end of last season, playing regularly during the run in and dominating opponents with his tough tackling, authority on the ball and passing range.
'He began the campaign playing at right back, lifting the Community Shield at Wembley, but was then hampered by injury set-backs, limiting him to 16 appearances.'
The profile goes on to detail his career path from Atletico Madrid, where he won the Spanish title and Europa League, and was recognised as Ghana's Player of the Year in both 2018 and 2019.
On Friday, Partey was charged with multiple sexual offences. He is accused of five counts of rape. Two counts of rape relate to one woman and three counts of rape relate to a second woman.
The one count of sexual assault relates to a third woman. None of the alleged victims can be named. He will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 5.
The Crown Prosecution Service has said the charges came after it 'carefully reviewed a comprehensive file of evidence'.
Partey 'denies all the charges against him' and 'welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name', his lawyer on Friday.
The Metropolitan Police said the investigation into Thomas Partey began in February 2022 after officers first received a report of rape.
He was first arrested in July 2022, though he was not named at the time and continued to play for Arsenal while investigations were ongoing.
He played more than 50 games for Arsenal while on bail, it has emerged.
In a statement, his lawyer Jenny Wiltshire, of Hickman and Rose, said: 'Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him.
'He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation.
'He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.
'Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.'
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, whose team is leading the investigation, said: 'Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward.

England set to face mammoth chase as Rishabh Pant helps India stretch big lead

England were facing up to the prospect of a record-breaking chase at Edgbaston as India stretched their lead to 357 on the fourth morning of the second Rothesay Test. Ben Stokes' side have earned their reputation as a fearless fourth-innings unit, but with seven wickets still to take before they even get their chance, they are likely to require a world record. India took lunch on 177 for three, Rishabh Pant unbeaten on 41 and attacking hard as he made the most of a bad drop by Zak Crawley on 10. The tourists held all the cards as play began, 244 in front with nine wickets in hand. England needed things to happen quickly if they were to drag themselves back into the battle and Brydon Carse did what he could to oblige. Charging in with good rhythm he got on top of KL Rahul and Karun Nair, beating the bat and picking up a couple of edges that failed to go to hand. India had almost survived his spell but Carse got his rewards when Nair nicked an attempted cover drive to Jamie Smith. The wicketkeeper, whose unbeaten 184 on Friday prevented England's position being even more painful, added a solid diving catch to his list of achievements and showed impressive glovework by standing up to the stumps off Chris Woakes. Rahul was a thorn in England's side, reaching 50 and then taking the lead past 300 with a thick edge through the vacant gully area. He was beginning to look at home when Josh Tongue sent him packing in no uncertain terms, firing a quick ball through his defences and detonating middle stump. That brought Pant to the crease and the madness quickly followed. He pulled his third delivery for four, then stepped back to his fourth and swatted Tongue back down the ground for six. That should have been the extent of his scoring but when he backed away to leg and pumped a simple chance to mid-off, Crawley fumbled badly. It did not take long for England to start counting the cost, Pant stooping to sweep Tongue for six more over square-leg, before punishing some drag downs from Shoaib Bashir. At one stage he swung so hard he launched his bat 20 yards into the outfield, a comedy moment he followed by offering another chance off the leading edge. Woakes sprinted in vain to reach the looping ball but could not reel it in.

Along with his Portuguese teammate Joao Cancelo he was seen sobbing during a moment's silence before the game. Jota and Neves played together since they were young, both representing the Portugal national team at youth level. They joined Wolves at the same time in 2017, both establishing themselves as exciting young players in the Premier League, and developing a close bond during the three years they played together. 'You know what you mean to me as much as I know what I mean to you,' Neves wrote in his tribute to Jota on Friday. 'More than a friendship, we're family, and we won't stop being that just because you've decided to sign a contract a little further away from us.' He said he would 'make sure that your loved ones never lack anything while you're there, far away but thinking of us, waiting for us'. 5 July 2025 11:35 Funeral comes to an end as Jota's weeping wife helps carry coffin The funeral mass of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva has come to a close. Silva was a 'talented' player, Mr Barton said, a versatile attacker who could play across the front three. 'He was someone that Diogo absolutely adored,' Mr Barton added. 'On multiple occasions in interviews, Diogo Jota was asked who his favourite footballer is. 'And he would always answer: Andre Silva. He would say Cristian Ronaldo was his idol, but his favourite player to watch was his brother, Andre SIlva. 'I think that really hit home how close the bond between the two brothers was. They did everything together, they travelled together, and they'd frequently watch each other play when they could.'
