Narwal's New S30 Series Improves on Wet-Dry Vacuuming with AI Dirt Detection and Self-Cleaning

CNETa day ago
Together with robot vacuums that can mop, wet-dry vacuums are becoming a common tool for saving time and effort when cleaning your home. As the name suggests, wet-dry vacuums like the Dyson Submarine V15s -- one of our top cordless picks -- can vacuum dirt and debris from carpets while also wet-mopping hard floors with a cleaning solution. The S30 and S30 Pro, first announced at CES 2025, are two of the latest wet-dry vacuums from Narwal and they improve on the previous generation, the S20 and S20 Pro.
Here's what's new.
Narwal S30 and S30 Pro
Narwal's lineup includes robovacs, all-in-ones and cordless stick vacuums.
Narwal
Both the S30 and S30 Pro offer stronger suction, AI that automatically adjusts cleaning strength and an upgraded self-cleaning system when docked. Narwal says the two models share many of the same capabilities and features, but the S30 Pro is designed for more advanced cleaning for larger families with pets and kids, hands-free maintenance and more control over cleaning. The S30 has similar features but is more affordable at about $100 less.
Specs and features
Both models come with 20,000 pascals of suction and are capable of exerting 20 newtons of downward mopping pressure. We're currently putting the S30 Pro through its paces at CNET's vacuum testing lab in Louisville, but typically cordless vacuums with this kind of suction strength tend to score well in our testing.
The S30 and S30 Pro come with an SGS and TUV-certified system for their brush rollers to minimize tangles. The dual comb design should capture and separate hair before it gets pulled in, preventing clogs. The S30 Pro additionally has a built-in cutter and a reverse-spin roller, so that it can remove tangled hair strands from the brush roller automatically.
The more affordable S30 has many of the same features as the S30 Pro, including AI dirt detection and self-cleaning.
Narwal/CNET
The models are also designed to fit under furniture and hit corners more easily, with a 180-degree flat-laying body. With both, you also get a smart base station that should help keep maintenance hands-free. After a cleaning session, the base station should heat water to 194 degrees Fahrenheit to sterilize the brushroll and keep it odor-free. There's also a built-in waste separation system to keep wet and dry debris apart, and even the internal tubing of the vacuum is air-dried after cleaning to prevent mold.
The S30 and S30 Pro both self-clean their mop rollers when docked and keep dry and wet debris sealed separately.
Narwal/CNET
Finally, like most other wet-dry vacuums on the market, the S30 Pro dispenses detergent automatically and can adjust the amount it dispenses, presumably based on the soil level. There's also DirtSense AI, which can scan for messages and adjust the vacuum's suction power. There are five cleaning modes to choose from, depending on the surface and mess.
The S30 and S30 Pro should each last around 60 minutes per charge, depending on suction speed and cleaning intensity. Narwal claims they can cover up to 4,300 square feet on a single charge -- a claim we're testing now with our S30 Pro review unit in the Louisville lab.
Price and availability
The Narwal S30 will be available starting August 15 on Narwal's website and Amazon. The S30 Pro will be $549 at full price, but on sale for $499 till September 7. The S30 is $449 at full price, but $399 at launch price till September 7.
