Jhalawar shcool tragedy a negligence of govt system: Dotasra
Dotasra met five children who are still undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jhalawar.
Speaking to media, Dotasra said, "Seven of our children were murdered, died due to this system's negligence and regardless of politics and party line, it is a serious question mark over all of us that our children are not safe in school even after 70 years of Independence. We should rise above party level and envisage the ways that such tragedy may not be repeated."
He said the issue would be raised for discussion in the Assembly.
He also criticised chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for not visiting Jhalawar to console the bereaved families while finding time to visit Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in Kota.
Dotasara urged the CM to visit Jhalawar, questioning why he could not come when he could visit 100 temples after getting a helicopter. He lamented that the chief minister does not visit without a formal request (parchi), yet he can sit with Om Birla in Kota, enjoying tea and snacks, while not having time to listen to the grievances of the children's families.
He described the compensation of Rs 10 Lakh to the kin of the deceased children as inadequate. 'Compensation is 100% inadequate, visiting and speaking the victims is not even in priority list of the government, compensation and package is too big a thing for this government (to consider upon)'. The Congress party provided financial support to the affected families, offering Rs 1 lakh to the families of the deceased children and Rs 10,000 each to the injured.
Dotasara also remarked that politics is a social service and those who cannot do social service should quit politics.
School education minister Madan Dilawar, responding to Dotasra's statement, said if the Congress govt had properly maintained all the buildings during its time, this incident would not have occurred. He said the BJP govt has allocated funds for the repair of nearly 2,000 schools over a year-and-a-half. "The Congress government deliberately avoided any repairs or inspections of schools during its term. Congress was only interested in making money," he said.

Act against officials over voter list discrepancies: Akhilesh to EC

The Election Commission and the government should have taken measures to prevent irregularities. The BJP is adept at manufacturing fake voters and deleting genuine ones, but they have run out of tricks, and that's why irregularities are being caught.' He alleged that the EC ignored complaints during the bypolls. 'If the DMs of these districts are terminated, no discrepancies will be seen in the voter list. Until the EC suspends or removes such officers, it won't be able to stop the forgery,' he said. Commenting on allegations that Bihar deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha possesses two EPIC numbers, Akhilesh said, 'If the deputy CM of Bihar has two voter IDs, a booth in UP was looted at the behest of the chief minister. Can anyone imagine that?' He also claimed that education department officers posted in Ayodhya assigned duties to others, and that in Meerapur and Kundarki, DMs and police chiefs actively prevented people from voting. 'We all saw the video of a police officer with a pistol warning a woman against leaving her house. Was the EC sleeping then? That's why we presented a white cloth to the EC,' he said. Akhilesh further stated he would request the EC and the government to prevent such officials from 'becoming criminals'. 'When officers become criminals, who will act against them?' he asked. On the monsoon session of the UP assembly, commencing Monday and featuring a special 24-hour sitting, Akhilesh said, 'Why call a session for even three days? They should finish it in three hours. I am against the 24-hour session. The government hasn't worked in the last nine years, but now they want to keep people awake for nothing. School mergers, floods, inflation, farmers' woes and injustice will be our main issues in the assembly session.'

Protest will pressurise Centre for statehood restoration: Khera
Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera on Sunday joined the J&K Congress hunger strike in Srinagar and said that the protest was aimed to build pressure on the central government for restoration of statehood. This protest will obviously create pressure and they will have to return this right of the 1.4 crore people of Jammu and Kashmir,' he said. As part of its series of protests which started last month on July 19, J&K Congress started a hunger strike from Saturday till August 20 seeking the restoration of statehood. On the launch of the hunger strike, J&K Congress president Tariq Hamid Karra said that this strike was aimed to push the government to listen to the wishes of 1.4 crore people of J&K. 'August 9 coincides with Quit India Movement, which had started in 1942 in the AICC session of Maharashtra on the call of Gandhi ji and keeping that in mind, we have started a hunger strike which will be observed across J&K in all districts till August 20. It is being done so that the emotions and desires of 1.4 crore people of J&K reach this blind and deaf government,' Karra said. On July 17, Lok Sabha leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had written to PM Modi to introduce a bill in the ongoing monsoon session to restore J&K's statehood. The J&K Congress then started its protest campaign on July 19 followed by a demonstration on the first day of the monsoon session in Delhi. On August 5, the party observed a 'black day' in protest against the revocation of J&K's statehood. Khera said that RSS would even consider the protests for freedom from the British futile when people were fighting the British. He said that when the statehood was revoked 5-6 years ago many promises were made. 'We were promised that terrorism will be eradicated, some 5 years ago. Many promises were made on demonetisation. Don't trust their promises. The rulers sitting in Delhi don't know how to run the government. They only know word play. Everyday there is new drama and new 'mann ki baat'. The Prime Minister doesn't know how to run the government,' he said. On why their alliance partner National Conference didn't join the protest, Khera said: 'It is our party's program. It is in our manifesto and we are fulfilling that. And whoever wants to join, the doors are open.' He said that the elected government of the union territory doesn't have enough powers. 'This is an incomplete government. It doesn't have powers. More powers are with LG. In a UT system, there are many compulsions. Efforts are more, compulsions are more, one's hands and feet are tied and still one has to move forward,' he said.

More probationer SIs come underscanner for 2021 exam paper leak
Jaipur: The Special Operations Group (SOG) is investigating several more probationer sub-inspectors (SIs) after arresting head constable Rajkumar Yadav a day earlier for allegedly securing the 2021 SI recruitment exam paper in advance for his son. Officials suspect Yadav was in contact with various candidates before the exam. According to sources, Yadav also provided the leaked paper to the son of milkman Ravindra Saini, from whom he regularly bought milk, and to Satyendra Singh Yadav, an acquaintance. Both cleared the exam with top scores and joined the police training academy. While Satyendra was arrested on Friday, Saini remains on the run. Sources said that Yadav was furious when he learned that his son Bharat failed to clear the physical test while Satyendra and Saini managed to clear it. "We have already arrested Yadav and his son. Yadav was posted as head constable in the security detail of former chief minister Ashok Gehlot," said an official. Investigators believe Yadav obtained the paper from Kundan Kumar Pandya, another accused in the SI paper leak case, who purchased it from suspended RPSC member Babulal Katara. Police suspect Yadav to have attempted to profit from the leak. The investigation revealed that Pandya, after acquiring the paper, first handed it to his daughter Riddhi, then to his niece Neha and nephew Naitik. All three were arrested last month. Officials said Yadav's modus operandi closely followed that of Pandya. "Pandya first gave the question papers to his daughter, niece, and nephews, and then he sold it to others. This raises suspicions about whether Yadav was also working on the same lines," said the official. The SOG is now analysing Yadav's call data records and location details to identify other possible beneficiaries of the leaked paper.
