
Single-window cell set up in Vizag to clear Ganesh pandal applications
Municipal Commissioner Ketan Garg on Wednesday said such cells have been set up at the GVMC head office and Zonal Offices to issue permissions to individuals, resident welfare associations, NGOs, voluntary organisations and festival committees or setting up Ganesh pandals .
Pandal organisers can approach the nodal officers at the GVMC head office are GVMC Chief Medical Officer E.N.V. Naresh Kumar (9848308823), City Planner V. Meena Kumari (8374996677), Executive Engineer (Electrical Department) D. Sridhar (8187898427), Fire Officer B. Krupavaram (9912448555).
At the zone level, citizens have been advised to contact the respective Zonal Commissioners, Assistant Medical Officers, Assistant City Planners, and Executive Engineers of their zones, he said.
Mr. Garg urged the pandal organisers to ensure that the Ganesh idols are made of clay. 'Use of Idols made from Plaster of Paris, thermocol or those painted with chemicals and synthetic colours is strictly prohibited,' Mr. Garg said.
For household celebrations, citizens are encouraged to immerse the clay idols in a container filled with water. Residents of colonies should use water tanks arranged at parks in their localities for immersion, he said.
Mr. Garg also said that those who wish to set up public entertainment stages in open areas must obtain prior permission from the designated Nodal Officers in accordance with prescribed rules.
He advised that cleanliness should be maintained throughout the festival.

"The work on the cable-stayed bridge, for which Bhide Bridge has been kept shut for vehicles, is still not over. We will, however, stop the work during the duration of the festival," the Metro official added. Maha Metro is constructing a cable-stayed bridge above Bhide Bridge for Metro commuters to reach the Deccan Gymkhana Metro station from Narayan Peth. 1 2 Akola: In a unique blend of devotion and environmental awareness, Akola has entered the England World Book of Records after 10,000 school students sculpted eco-friendly Ganesh idols from shadu clay under one roof. The mega workshop, organized by Nilesh Dev Mitra Mandal, consumed nearly 10 tonnes of clay, making it one of the largest such initiatives in the country. Held ahead of Ganeshotsav, the event aimed to spread the message of celebrating festivals without harming the environment. With 20,000 hands at work, students pledged to install only pollution-free idols in their homes this year. Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi leader Prakash Ambedkar inaugurated the workshop. District collector Ajit Kumbhar, Municipal commissioner Dr Sunil Lahane, Akola Urban Bank chairman Shashank Joshi, CEO Rajan Sontakke and other dignitaries were present. "This initiative helped students shed their hesitation and express themselves through art. It marks the beginning of creativity in their lives," said Ambedkar. GVMC sets up single window clearance cell for Vinayaka Chavithi
Visakhapatnam : The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has established a single window clearance cell to manage Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations. A special cell has been set up at both the GVMC head office and the zonal offices to grant permission to the public, resident welfare associations, NGOs, voluntary organizations, and festival organizing committees for conducting the festivities. The GVMC commissioner, Ketan Garg, has advised city residents, RWAs, NGOs, and festival committees to use environmentally friendly clay Ganesh idols and strictly avoid idols made from chemical-based colors, plaster of Paris, or thermocol materials. He urged people to immerse the clay Ganesh idols in a bucket of water at home and for colony residents to utilize water tanks arranged near parks in their localities for idol immersion. The commissioner also instructed that permission must be obtained from the nodal officers with due compliance to regulations before setting up entertainment stages in public places. He emphasized that cleanliness and hygiene must be strictly maintained during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival celebrations. The GVMC has designated nodal officers at the head office and zonal offices to assist with the celebrations.
