James Bond 'has to be a guy', says Helen Mirren

Dame Helen Mirren has said James Bond should be played by a man, even though she is "such a feminist". In a new interview with Saga Magazine, the Oscar-winning actor said "you can't have a woman. It just doesn't work. James Bond has to be James Bond, otherwise it becomes something else". Amazon MGM Studios will produce the next iteration of the spy franchise, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight set to write what will become the 26th film in the series. The Studios previously said they were planning a "fresh" take on franchise but would honour the "legacy" of the "iconic character". The 80-year-old is currently starring opposite former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan in the much anticipated film adaption of The Thursday Murder Club, in which she plays a retired spy. Brosnan, 72, also told the magazine that he believed a male actor should continue to play Bond and he was excited to "see a whole new exuberance and life for this character." He starred in four Bond films during his tenure as 007, starting with GoldenEye in 1995 and finishing with Die Another Day, which was released in 2002. Mirren has previously been quoted saying that the concept of James Bond was "born out of profound sexism", and that women have always been an "incredibly important part" of the Secret Service. Mirren and Brosnan are not the first to push back on the idea of Bond being played by a woman, with the sentiment echoed by Brosnan's Die Another Day costar, Halle Berry. "In 2025, it's nice to say, 'Oh, she should be a woman.' But, I don't really know if I think that's the right thing to do," she said, speaking at Cannes Film Festival in May. The James Bond franchise was owned by the Broccoli family for more than 60 years, but producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson sold creative control to Amazon for a reported $1bn (£760m) earlier this year. Speculation about who will next play the titular character has been rife, with British actors Aaron Taylor-Johnson and James Norton rumoured as frontrunners for the part. There is no current release date set for the next film. Who will be the next James Bond? Speculation mounts after Amazon buys 007 Peaky Blinders creator will write new James Bond film Amazon plans 'fresh' James Bond but will respect 007 legacy

Prince William and Kate Middleton's Upcoming Move Displace Two Windsor Families

Prince William and Kate Middleton's Upcoming Move Displace Two Windsor Families originally appeared on Parade. Prince William and Kate Middleton's next move on the Windsor estate has already led to a shake-up for a couple of nearby residents. The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 43, along with their children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, are preparing to leave Adelaide Cottage — their home of the past three years — for Forest Lodge later in 2025. As plans for the relocation progress,PEOPLE confirmed on Sunday, August 17, that two neighboring families were asked to leave their residences earlier this summer. According to the Daily Mail, the households had been living in cottages once converted from old stables on the estate. These properties, which were rented out through the Crown Estate, sit in close proximity to Forest Lodge, the new eight-bedroom home for the Wales family. While the transition may have come as a surprise, PEOPLE stated that the tenants did not receive eviction notices and were instead moved to 'similar or better housing' within Windsor Great Park. 'Those houses are very close to the lodge, so they're not going to want any Tom, Dick or Harry living in those houses if there are going to be royals there.' According to the outlet, additional privacy measures have already been put in place, including fresh shrubbery and screening around the property. Minor renovations are also underway, and a Kensington Palace spokesperson previously confirmed, 'The Wales family will move house later this year.' As for Kate, she recently expanded her early childhood advocacy with the launch of a new educational project. On August 6, the Princess of Wales unveiled seven animated videos through her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, aimed at helping parents, caregivers, and professionals better support children's emotional and social development. 'Loving, responsive interactions with trusted adults help shape how children learn and grow, laying the foundations for future life health and happiness,' Kate explained in her announcement, noting that the series highlights how everyday relationships influence brain development. Quentin Tarantino reveals 'crazy' reason he scrapped his final film 'The Movie Critic'

Quentin Tarantino may have backed out of his swan song, but it wasn't because of stage fright. The Oscar-winning filmmaker, who was slated to conclude his esteemed directing career with "The Movie Critic," opened up about the film's cancellation in an Aug. 15 interview on "The Church of Tarantino" podcast. "It's a little crazy to listen to podcasts and hear all these amateur psychiatrists psychoanalyze as if they (expletive) know what they're talking about," Tarantino, 62, said. "About what's going on with me, about how I'm so scared of my 10th film. ... 'Oh my God. I'm so fragile about my legacy.'" Tarantino, who previously said he planned to retire after his 10th film, told Deadline in 2023 that the film was set in California in 1977 and based on a real-life film critic who wrote "movie reviews for a porno rag." Brad Pitt, who won an Oscar for his role in Tarantino's 2019 film "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood," was reportedly in talks to star in the film. Tarantino said the film started as a limited, eight-episode series. While the "Pulp Fiction" director was satisfied with the show's script, he later decided to adapt it into a film format: "No one's waiting for this thing, per se. I mean, I can do it whenever I want. I mean, it's already written. So OK, let me just not start it right now." "Let me try writing it as a movie and let me see if it's better that way. ... And I was like, 'Oh, OK. No, I think this is going to be the movie.' And then it wasn't," Tarantino continued. "I pulled the plug on it. And the reason I pulled the plug is a little crazy." Throughout his nearly four-decade career, Tarantino has become an icon of cinema thanks to his colorful neo-noir style, which often includes graphic violence and frequent references to popular culture. Some of his best-known films are "Reservoir Dogs," "Pulp Fiction" the "Kill Bill" franchise, and "Inglourious Basterds." 'The Movie Critic': What Quentin Tarantino has said about Brad Pitt-led film Why Quentin Tarantino didn't move forward with 'The Movie Critic' When it comes to movie magic, Tarantino isn't one to repeat himself. The director told "Church of Tarantino" host Reverend Scott K. that he gave himself a "challenge" with the subject of "The Movie Critic," which fueled much of his creative interest in the film. "Can I take the most boring profession in the world and make it an interesting movie?" Tarantino said. "Who wants to see a movie called 'The Movie Critic'? ... If I can actually make a movie or a TV show about somebody who watches movies interesting, that is an accomplishment." Quentin Tarantino's movies, ranked: From 'Reservoir Dogs' to 'Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood' And while Tarantino felt he met that goal, he said the film's production process bore too many similarities to "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood," which is also set in a retro period of Los Angeles. "I wasn't really that excited about dramatizing what I wrote when I was in pre-production," Tarantino said. "There was nothing to figure out 'cause I already kind of knew, more or less, how to turn LA into an older time. So, it was too much like the last one." As for what the future holds, Tarantino shared that his upcoming projects include an untitled play and "The Adventures of Cliff Booth," a sequel to "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" written and co-produced by Tarantino, directed by David Fincher, and starring Pitt as the title character. "I won't be on the set every day and everything, but I'll be around if they need me to do something," said Tarantino, adding with a laugh: "It's a little more like I've given David a gigantic novel written in screenplay form, and it's his job."
