Who Is Tauseef Badshah? The Man Who Brazenly Shot Dead Gangster In Bihar Hospital

News184 days ago
Tauseef Badshah, an alleged contract killer, led the shootout at Paras HMRI hospital in Patna to kill gangster Chandan Mishra. He was detained by police.
Bihar Hospital Shooting: In one of the most chilling displays of gang violence, five armed people entered the Paras hospital in Bihar and shot dead a gangster, who was undergoing treatment and was released on parole. Tauseef Badshah, a rival gangster, led the shootout.
The target was Chandan Mishra, a resident of Buxar who was named in at least 24 criminal cases, including murder. A now-viral video from the hospital shows the attackers entering the lobby with guns before fleeing moments later after the shooting.
After the murder, Tauseef did not run out with the other accused but strutted out of the hospital, unfazed by the murder. He was the first to be detained by police, while raids were conducted at several locations to take the rest into custody. A total of six suspects from Patna and Buxar are in custody.
Who Is Tauseef Badshah?
Tauseef Badshah hails from Patna's Phulwari Sharif area, where his father owns a hardware business and his mother is a teacher. He attended Saint Karen's School, police sources told NDTV.
Tauseef was named in at least one case under the Arms Act and had become involved in contract killings. He began receiving payments to execute murders or assist in coordinating such operations, police said.
It is believed that Chandan Mishra's murder was rooted in an old rivalry with another gangster named Sheru. Chandan and Sheru were reportedly allies who parted ways in Bhagalpur jail, and the former began operating independently. Police have officially attributed the incident to a gang rivalry.
How Was The Attack Planned?
According to a report by India Today, police officials found that the gang that killed Chandan had conducted detailed groundwork and had gathered extensive knowledge about the hospital's layout. Badshah had frequently visited the facility when a close associate with undergoing treatment.
Before the shooting, the gunmen had gathered knowledge of Chandan's location and the lock of Room 209, where he was admitted, was already faulty and could not be secured from inside, making it easier for the shooters to enter.
The gunmen were initially stopped at the hospital's emergency gate by security personnel and were asked to provide gate passes. Since no one had the gate pass, they slipped in through the OPD and made their way to Room 209, and shot Chandan.
CCTV footage showed that while four gunmen fled from the room after the murder, Badshah continued to walk in a slow and nonchalant pace, apparently unfazed by the murder. The gunmen were seen celebrating the act before speeding away on their motorcycles.
Political Backlash
Union Minister and NDA ally Chirag Paswan targeted the Nitish Kumar-led BJP-JDU government on Thursday over the killing of a criminal in a Patna hospital, saying that Bihar's law and order situation has become a cause for concern. 'Murders are happening every day. The morale of criminals is sky-high. The strategy of the police and administration is beyond comprehension," he said.
Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, posted on X: 'Criminals, protected by the government, shot at a patient admitted to a Patna hospital. Is anyone safe in Bihar? Did such an incident happen in Bihar before 2005, during the RJD's rule?"
Recent weeks have seen a string of murders in Bihar, claiming the lives of businessman Gopal Khemka, BJP leader Surendra Kewat, and lawyer Jitendra Mahato. With state polls approaching, the law and order situation has sparked heated debates between the Opposition RJD and the ruling JDU-BJP coalition.

2015 Bharuch double murder: Court orders NIA to attach 1.92 sq m property of accused

Ahmedabad: Nearly 10 years after the murder of two BJP workers in Bharuch, a special court has ordered the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to attach the share of one of the accused in his ancestral properties — a total measuring less than 2 sq m. Mohammed Yunus, alias Manjro, was among those arrested on charges of criminal conspiracy and the murder of BJP workers Shirish Bengali and Pragnesh Mistry. The killings took place in Nov 2015, and the investigation was later handed over to the NIA. The accused were charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). In Dec 2024, the NIA filed an application in the special court seeking permission to attach Manjro's properties under the provisions of Section 33(1) of the UAPA. His share in the two properties was calculated at 1.59 sq m and 0.33 sq m respectively, totalling just 1.92 sq m. The NIA submitted that these properties were liable to be seized for forfeiture proceedings in the case. Manjro's lawyer objected to the application, questioning the agency's move nearly a decade after the case began. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo He argued that the 2013 amendment to the UAPA allows attachment only of properties intended to be used for terrorism-related activities. He opposed the seizure of what he described as a "very minimal" share in the ancestral properties. After hearing arguments, Special Judge M P Purohit rejected the defence's objections and stated in the order, "It is ordered that the share in the immovable properties of the accused Mohammad Yunus @ Manjro (A-4) — (i) Residential House, Ward No. 3, City Survey No. 3614, Bharuch City, having a total area of 143.96 sq m, and (ii) Residential House, Ward No. 3, City Survey No. 3615, Bharuch City, having a total area of 29.59 sq m — is hereby ordered to be attached till the final disposal of this case under the provisions of Section 33(1) of the UA(P) Act, 1967. " The court further directed: "The accused Mohammad Yunus @ Manjro shall not transfer his share in these properties to anyone by sale, mortgage, gift, or in any other manner until the trial is completed."

Tussle over family-run gurdwara: Bros turn foes

Ludhiana: BJP leader Sukhwinder Singh Bindra and his brother, Simranpal, were Monday booked for allegedly threatening their cousin, Navpreet, at gunpoint over a dispute regarding the presidency of the management committee of a gurdwara located in Model Town. Sukhwinder is also a member of the National Institute of Social Defense (NISD). The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Navneet's mother, Surjeet Kaur Bindra. She alleged that the rift between them is over the control of the Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Gurdwara, which was set up by her late husband, Rajinder Singh Bindra. She said that after her husband's death, his brother Surinder Pal Bindra and Surinder's sons, Sukhwinder and Simranpal, started threatening her son to surrender any claim to the gurdwara's management. She further alleged that on March 3, Sukhwinder came to the gurdwara with his security team, manhandled Navpreet, and threatened to shoot him if he did not step aside and allow Sukhwinder's father to become the head of the gurdwara committee. ASI Pardeep Kumar, who is investigating the case, said the accused have been charged with BNS sections 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), 3 (5) (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. Investigation is under way.

2 more suspects arrested in Bengaluru realtor murder case involving ex-minister Byrathi Basavaraj

The Bengaluru police on Monday arrested two more people in connection with the murder of history-sheeter and realtor Shivakumar alias Bikla Shiva, bringing to seven the number of arrests in the case, in which BJP MLA and former minister Byrathi Basavaraj is among the accused. On July 15, a group of people hacked Shiva Kumar alias Biklu Shivu, a resident of Halasuru, to death while he was standing outside his home with his friend and his driver, according to a police complaint filed by his mother, who claims to have witnessed the murder. The police identified the duo arrested on Monday as Arun alias Temu from RS Palya and Naveen from Banaswadi, both in their thirties. According to police officials, the two suspects played crucial roles in the murder, with Arun allegedly being the one who butchered the victim during the attack using sharp weapons. A court remanded both in police custody for 14 days. Five suspects had previously surrendered to the police, claiming responsibility for the murder. The investigation has also led to the detention of RD Anil, who allegedly provided the white Mahindra Scorpio used as a getaway vehicle by the assailants, for questioning. Sources suggest that Anil may be a close relative of the MLA, though police officials have not officially confirmed this connection. The FIR alleged that the MLA backed the assailants in the murder. The police questioned the BJP MLA on July 19 and summoned him again on Wednesday to establish his role in the crime. The prime suspect in the case, Jagadish alias Jagga, remains at large. During searches of Jagadish's Bengaluru residence and office on Sunday, the police reportedly discovered documents related to a revolver he allegedly possessed. 'The investigation is underway from all angles. We are going from bottom to the top and will soon arrest all those responsible,' a police officer said.
